Geithner: Stimulus Plan Heading in the Right Direction

Despite the nation's continuing rise in unemployment, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner today announced before lawmakers that the Obama administration's stimulus package is "on the expected path" and there have been "substantial improvements" made in digging the country out of economic recession.
On the right path? About 2 million jobs have been lost since Congress okay'd the administration's stimulus plan back in February and unemployment now stands at its highest rate in 26 years--all that for only $787 billion! (sarcasm)
Some Obama allies are now calling for the president to consider a second stimulus package. What was it exactly about the first one that makes them so confident a second one will do anything but waste more taxpayer money?

So you acknowledge that you are a apologist for the proven liar, Vlad? Figures. I thought libtards considered themselves to have odorless feces!!! Shoots that hypothesis all to hell.
How can you refute the fact that I have proven Vlad a hideous liar parching these threads? How Bob? How? |

Munck. I have not seen you refute my evidence against Vlad! I have him dead to rights lying his face off! Either you are morally blind or you enjoy the company of proven liars! Vlad is a bald faced liar and you stick up for him! What can I say Bob? I have less respect for you now than I ever did! |

Well, I think I figured out where all the stimulus money is being spent...
While perusing the Seattle.Craigslist.com jobs section, I came across some really great paying jobs.
For instance: This one says: Make a Difference, Make Money, Create Change
Here's another: SUMMER JOBS: Help elect pro-environment leaders! $350-$550/wk
And another: SUMMER JOB FOR INTERNATIONAL CHARITY
Wait there's more: Fight Apathy With Action!
You could get paid to FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING! 400-600/WK
How about this one:FULL TIME Protect the Planet from Corporate Greed! - $1500-$3300/mo"
This is the same company as the first one above, but with a different headline: REPOWER AMERICA! SUMMER JOBS on a CAMPAIGN for CLEAN ENERGY! $10-15/h (Downtown)
And this is just in the Seattle area!
One has to wonder how these non-profits can afford such high pay.
I have links to these jobs on my site freshnews2.us in case you want to read them.
I was dismayed to see the left's political acumen, again demonstrated by this farce!

Prez Obama says everything is right on target, the stimulus plan is working the way it was supposed to. WTF is this guy a socialist whack job, perhaps if we lived in those villages that he just visited in Africa, The Prez says if I don't help my family why should I help you, he has the let them eat cake attitude. Well lefties as Hardy from Laurel and Hardy says " you have put us is a fine mess this time Comrade. |

... thought not paying taxes was ok... until he was nominated for the Treasury position.
His $0.02 "opinion" will cost me an extra $10k in taxes. |
|
everything is going as planned, he isn't kidding.
Notice how, in the manner of Bill Clinton, when Tim is lying his forehead becomes a corduroy panorama of wrinkles, as he raises his brows higher and higher?
He leans forward, bugs his eyes, raises his brows and over-sincerity-izes whatever blather he's dishing.
Obama can't bear to seem to be doing anything Bush did; and his efforts at equalizing everyone thus have to be aimed at pressing down on those at the top (except, of course, the left elite who, like he, will be the directors of everything) instead of lifting up those at the bottom. Hate to be a conspiracy freak, but he means to bankrupt the country, and Geithner is right there with him. |

What Track? ___________________________________________
Same track as: "The unemployment rate will not go above 8%." or the Stimulus will add 3 million jobs....or, wait....uh, um...to now, we saved jobs from being eliminated.
That Track? |
|
Economy on Tract geither said:"There's been substantial improvements in arresting what was the worst recession globally we've seen in generations," Geithner told lawmakers Friday.
Really, what planet is he living on? What about the failure of the auto companies, banks so called toxic assets(HA,HA,HA), home prices falling downwards of 57% of their value(oh, I'm sorry that was a correction, from 1970), foreclosures, millions of job losses, inflated gas prices, small businesses closing in record numbers, Detroit a ghost town, California bankrupt, stock portfolios down over 50%, deficits in the Trillions, credit card interest at 30%, did I miss anything, probably.
So Tim, you expected this? According to you this is the right path? The path to H*ll I say! First grade math could tell you, you are WRONG, once again.
Get a job that suits your ability! Say...valet parking anyone? |

"JAPAN'S EXPERIENCE"
"You have to go back 7 1/2 decades to the Great Depression to witness the folly of a nation attempting to spend its way to economic health. Consider Japan's dismal experiences in the early 1990's.
Before Japan's recession, fortunes in the Land of the Rising Sun were indeed rising rapidly. By 1991, Japan's per capita gross income was close to that of the United States. The following year and continuing through 2000, the Japanese began investing in infrastructure on a massive scale - not unlike Washington's ambitious plans today.
The economic rot set in.
Despite 10 separate stimulus spending packages focused primarily on infrastructure, Japanese prosperity declined. Personal income dropped. And a once bustling economy slumped to annual growth rate of .6 percent between 1992 and 2007, says Ronald D. Utt, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
The upshot of Japan's unrestrained government spending? Economic stagnation. It's doubtful the U.S. will fare any better, based not only on Japan's experience but on America's previous attempts to spend its way to prosperity.
Like Japan's, these prior U.S. "stimulus" plans had little impact on the economy or jobs.
Lavishly spending billions on government projects simply because they're "shovel ready" isn't a course for correction. As history shows, it's a cow path to nowhere." |
|
You are pretty close on that 10%.
About 10% of stimulus money has been actually spent. However, over 90% of this has been misused, not in accordance with what it was pledged for, nor what the states promised to do with it. Over 90% of the money has been used for individual states' budgets, and for their Medicaid paydowns. In no way has this "created" one job. Nor that silly notion of "saved" jobs as so often heard by the democrat party.
One other note. Obummer gave the job of overseeing these expenditures to Joe Biden. Biden was to make certain that the states were doing what the stimulus was intended for.
SO----Joe Biden has proved incompetent, at least so far as the job he was given by his boss.
It has been one massive mess so far. The monies NOT being used as intended. Biden NOT doing his job. And this administration says that the government can do a better job with the new health care plan? Yeah, right---they sure have proven to be competent as already noted. |

No, arch, you don't. I realize you think that in your crack-brained excuse for a mind, but it's all nonsense. I find it rather embarrassing that you repeat it endlessly, rather like watching a person with no sense of balance attempt to ride a bicycle only to fall off, over and over and over again.

...has been (mis)spent to far...even tho people had to come home to D.C. from funerals to vote for it ASAP.
Why the rush and then the delay?
It's the Dems 2010 war chest. They will haul it out just in time for the election....but not so soon that folks have a chance realize it won't do any good.
In the meantime we need yet another one to help with all the jobs that the first one was supposed to create...but isn't.
And why the rush to vote on all these bills? Because if voters had a chance to read the bills (as BHO promised) we would all say, Hell no!
Nothing would ever get passed.
Yipeeee!!! |

No Bob Munck. The undertaker is always there soliciting for business. Every society has the social position of an undertaker awaiting and depending upon the death of others to make his living.
BTW, How is the praise from the likes of Vlad/Lucky Pozzo going for you? Do you relish in the praise and cheerleading from a proven liar? You do realize I have irrefutable proof that Vlad lies don,t you? I may be crude in my insults to libtards, but I am no liar!! |

The government (we the taxpayers) contributed about 50 billion to this company inorder for it to eliminate 30% of it's workforce. In addition, GM hopes to return to it's glory years by manufacturing what the government says will make it profitable. Making "green" vehicles that """everyone""" wants.
Maybe if the government contributes a little more, it can simply disappear with our money altogether! |

Did you happen to see my post to you last week---pertaining to your comment about being of small build and usually being last to be picked for a sport's game?
You had me laughing (not at you, with you) and reminiscing about one of my favorite songs about this. Perhaps you saw it and went to the website to listen to the song? |

"Considering the path Bush led us down..."
Keep laughing because within a few years everyone will come to realize that Obama is Bush on steroids.
Recovery? Don't bet on it! The history of overspending as a means of dealing with a depression is fraught with disasters. It failed for Hoover and Roosevelt; it failed for the Japanese and the Germans.
In 1920 we were hit with a recession that dwarfed the one we are in now. Harding did the right thing and cut both spending and taxes.
Harding's predecessor, Wilson, was such a disastrous president that he makes Bush look like George Washington. Yet, with a proper economic response it took the US less than a year to recover. Harding, and his successor Coolidge, were the 20th century's greatest American presidents. Reagan and Clinton were good, but neither could touch H and C.
Our only hope is that Congress keeps fighting over the money and it never gets spent. Unfortunately, for the US it seems that our luck has finally run out.
But what the heck? The US had to die someday.
In a thousand years or so someone will write a book and call it:
"Barack Obama - Liberty's Undertaker"

Gaither is crying for people to invest in his junk bonds, but nobody is buying. Looks like the crooks in the government have all of the investors sitting on their money. I just invested in a good 308, it is worth a lot more than that junk gm stock. Probably will need it soon to when all of the obama subjects are unemployed and decide to rob people. |
|
$787 billion here, and $787 billion there, and pretty soon you're talking real money.
Too bad the pseudocons can't seem to find the same sense of indignation when they're reminded of the $3 trillion dollars that will have been poured down that rathole in Iraq when it's all said and done. |
