Nader: Obama 'Talking White'

Ralph Nader continues campaigning to be the Democrat's "man of the year" (kidding, of course). From the Rocky Mountain News:
Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader accused Sen. Barack Obama, the presumed Democratic Party nominee, of downplaying poverty issues, trying to "talk white" and appealing to "white guilt" during his run for the White House.

"There's only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He's half African-American," Nader said. "Whether that will make any difference, I don't know. I haven't heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What's keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white? He doesn't want to appear like Jesse Jackson? We'll see all that play out in the next few months and if he gets elected afterwards."

True, we aren't happy that Nader entering the former race caused Pres.,Bush to win by a nose! However, it would be a "positive" if his run, this time, caused the pretentious, inexperienced Obama to lose. If so be it, Go Nader! |

If Senator Obama did that, so called-conservatives, who SHOULD want the best for ALL people in the republic instead of CERTAIN people, (but DON'T) would accuse the man of "racism".
The fact is, that there are poor non-whites AND whites who are suffering in the aforementioned scenarios, and Senator Obama SHOULD speak to them, because his opponents sure the hellz ain't! |

It is what it is. Obama does what he needs to do to win. Not such a different kind of politician after all. |

..even though HE isn't.
As a non-white 43 year old independent, I can say that those of the nationalist partisan ilk have gone way beyond what I could have expected with the simplicity and petulance.
It's tough and disconcerting when a non-white male is running for public office and is not the typical "loud, angry, and defensive black man" isn't it? And it's even more bewildering that he's not actually like Jeremiah Wright and "Sharpton" and "Jackson".
Imagine that? Someone other than the pet token "black" (emasculated) conservative is still consistently trying to rise above the fray and play the dirty and scandalous game that is generally played.
Even the most productive and responsible non-white male is considered in "mainstream" American society to be an:
ANGRY
VIOLENT
OVER-SEXED
LAZY
SELF-VICTIMIZED
UNPATRIOTIC
MAN CHILD
with no RESTRAINT or SELF CONTROL.
And even those pet token "black" conservatives, if found to exhibit those behaviors, would illicit very little disappointment or surprise from the "mainstream".
So right now, the other SHOE hasn't fallen yet. Senator Obama hasn't thrown a hissy fit and started talking about people's "mamma" yet.
What if he doesn't? What ever will ya'll do then?
As a note, I'm a very successful non-white male and I've worked hard for everything I have and I'm not a so-called VICTIM of anything, nor am I ANGRY about anything.
As much my views might be labeled as fiscally and socially conservative, and I am a servant of Yahweh, I just would ever want to be associated with a bunch of phony antebellum carnal Christian scoffers. |

Nader is saying what a lot of other people aren't saying, so I say let him have at it. Now Obama will have to respond to both the GOP and Nader.
