Huck Heading to NH
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 10:36 PM
Folks are wondering how much he'll play in New Hampshire or whether he'll just head straight to South Carolina where his natural constituency is larger.

Just heard from a person in the Huck camp that he's flying from Iowa to New Hampshire late tonight and some staffers and volunteers are road-tripping to hook up with him there. He may not go all-out there, but he's certainly making an early show of enthusiasm.

Update: Rich Lowry wonders if Huckabee's unorthodox calls in the last week of campaigning in Iowa were actually brilliant endgame.

Update: Huck's speaking in Iowa now. He's predictably charming: "I never thought I'd be able to love a state as much as my home state of Arkansas, but tonight I love Iowa-- a lot."

Update: My, Senator, you look happy!

Another Look at Huckabee

I was somewhat against Huckabee and it appears some of my opposition may have been based on bad information.

I went to his website and inspected his stand on the issues and I was impressed.

I still question whether he is viable at the national level against the Democrats but I am not quite as afraid of his candidacy as I was before.

I guess I'll have to dig some more to make sure what he's showing at his campaign website is what he will actually stand for if nominated/elected but so far he looks as conservative on the issues as anyone in the race.

That is the real question, isn't it? These candidates can say and publish a lot of things during the campaign season that sound good -- but will they actually live up to their rhetoric once safely in office?

I do not believe someone like McCain will. I'm also not very confident Romney will, either. Giuliani has already made his position on some issues dear to conservatives quite clear and they are troubling at best.

So what say Huckabee/Thompson? Will it beat the Obama steamroller?

anti-religious paranoia?
Us normal folks call it "reality."

You must be mistaken unless his daughters take a different view than he does.

Huckabee supports the military and the war on terror.

You guys please stop hating Huckabee because he is a social conservative moral cannidate running for President who happens to be a Christian and was a pastor before he got into politics.

If you guys do this then Hillary Clinton is too good for you.

I know its a strong statement but you guys really need to get real.

How much of a CHRISTIAN
Earlier today I was watching one of the cable news channels (I'm 90% sure it was Fox) and they had a short segment where they visited a few campaign offices that were located in the same building in Iowa. They would show people manning the phones in each of the headquarters. When they got to Huckabees headquarters and showed people working the phones, I recognized 2 of the young women on the phone bank. I recognized these two from a documentary I watched recently about Fred Phelps and his weird church. You know, that's the church that would go to Military funerals and protest calling our soldiers evil. Anyway, the 2 women are his daughters! This is not good if Huckabee realy considers himself a Christian, because Fred Phelps and his crew are definately NOT Christian!

soothsayer --
But you ARE making this stuff up! Huckabee has never said anything except that he believes God created the earth.

Your anti-religious paranoia is causing you to put words in people's mouth. Do you also waste time searching for hidden crosses in political ads?

Are you a member of the media?
soothsayer writes: Thursday, January, 03, 2008 11:29 PM
the best part is...
the top GOPer seriously believes the earth is only 6,000 years old.

I'll say it again... you can't make this stuff up!!!

Huck N' Chuck
Huckabee even uses his celebrity endorsements more efficiently than most candidates. Chuck is everywhere Huck is! I mean, not even Obama can get Oprah at every single one of his appearances.

I agree with TrueHawk: Huck should go heavy Fair Tax in NH...GET RID OF THAT IRS!
TrueHawk writes: Thursday, January, 03, 2008 11:05 PM
Sorry if this is a double post
In the remarks linked to Rich Lowry, the editor of the National Review, he congratulates Huck. He now notices that like the TV detective Columbo, Huck feigns bumbling along while in reality he is a genius getting others to underestimate him at their own peril. It's the power of the floating cross! Go Huck, true social conservative. Incidentally, his fiscal conservatism in winning Iowa compared to what Mitt spent makes you see how Huck could run the country on less taxes.

Rich Lowry Congratulates Huck
In the link in the above article, Rich Lowry of the National Review congratulates Huck, something he will do a lot more. I kept telling you Huck is Columbo, feigning bumbling along but really a genius who wants you to underestimate him at your own peril. Huck just needs to come in fourth in New Hampshire. He can win Michigan. He will win SC easily and will win Florida. Now Huck drops the heavy faith talk and goes to the heavy fair tax talk. Yep, a multiple stage plan. Not Gomer. Columbo.

Guess it's time to write Romney's obit
The fact that Huckabee isn't depending solely on McCain to deliver the coup de grace in New Hampshire is very telling.
