Will Dem Fissures Doom Obama?

Now that Obama has become the presumed presumed Democratic nominee, it is fair to ask whether or not he will be able to consolidate the Democratic Party.
Jake Tapper's "To-Do List for Hillary Clinton" notes that her 5th priority is to:
"Point to ugly exit poll data from Indiana showing 50% of Clinton supporters say they will not vote for Obama in the Fall.” While it is unlikely this argument will be enough to persuade superdelegates to abandon Obama, Clinton's argument is a legitimate one.
The Washington Post also echoes the problem today, noting that,
"Fewer than half of Clinton voters in both states said they would support Obama over McCain in the general election should that be the matchup. More than half of those backing Obama said they would be unhappy with Clinton as the party's standard-bearer."
... I don't honestly believe that half of Clinton voters will vote for McCain. However, if 10 percent of Clinton voters stay home -- a more realistic possibility -- McCain probably wins. As you can see, this is a real problem for Obama ...

John McCain has not changed his mind about "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", amnesty, at all.
http://townhall.com/columnists/AmandaCarpenter/2008/03/28/b loggers_press_mccain_adviser_on_immigration “John McCain’s position on immigration is very clear and this a question that gets asked at townhall appearances everyday in media appearances and has answered the question at least a thousand times before the New Hampshire primary,” Schmidt said.
He explained, “Any person who supports John McCain’s campaigns is a subscriber to John McCain’s views"
A vote for McCain is a vote for surrender of your country. Your vote for McCain will be used as proof that you want amnesty.
Many of us see another amnesty as the end of the Republic, the stampede it will set off will be overwhelming. If we don't stop the inundation none of the rest matters. We'll be a banana republic before the jihadis can get us. There will never be another GOP president or Congressional majority. Importing voters for the socialists is as stupid as it gets.
McCain keeps saying "Secure the border first". We know that he means amnesty next. The plan is to get the border state Gov's to declare the border secure. Conveniently, they are all on board the cheap labor express. Then his good friend Ted Kennedy will bring back McCain/Kennedy and McCain can provide his good friends across the aisle with their new permanent majority.
I will not vote for amnesty.

That so called conservatives have decided the Lostertarian way is the way to acheive victory. Winning by losing is just losing.
Yes I hope the Dems have dissent, but I also hope so called conservatives wake up. |

Why's it gotta be "dem fissures" instead of "them fissures", huh? Cause you're writing about a black man? Better watch your racist attitudes!

The father grills his boy about where he learned to smoke the marijuana and the kid finally blurts out, "I learned it from you, okay?!"
Well, we're just following the Stupid Party's example... |

at least six Clinton supporters who will not vote for Obama in the fall. He needs to cross his fingers and his toes, throw salt over his shoulder and whatever else it takes to bring good luck because he will need it. |

My significant other is a semi-militant feminist who was a hard core Hillary fan. In watching this primary season unfold she admitted to me that if not for the Abortion issue she thinks McCain is a much more sensible choice than EITHER of the Dems. She says she will not vote for Obama because she believes he is a con man at heart. In the end she may still pull the lever for Obama unless I offer her a vote swap i.e. I don't vote for McCain if she doesn't vote for Obama. I'm going to wait until I'm sure she'll actually vote for the O man before offering though, there is a better than 50%chance she'll refuse to vote for him anyway.
The African American community has made this a racial issue, or more correctly a racist issue with their 94% voting record. They may want to check to see that there is enough white guilt to go along with their racial "solidarity" to carry Obama over the top in Nov. because if not they will once agin have spent all their political capital on the Dems and have nothing to show for it.
(Come to think of it even when the Dems win the African American community doesn't get much back for their support)

Electing the Republican most responsible for the advancement of liberalism is NOT winning. |

I suppose electing oblama or hillary, by not voting for McCain, is the better alternative? You have been crying about this amnesty issue since McCain secured the nomination. You really neeed to take a deep breath and go see a shrink!
Since you are so convinced that McCain will give us another amnesty, how do you square that with what either of the dem candidates will give us? Not only will we get amnesty, we'll get a liberal court that will take a generation or more to overcome.
You are a seriously bitter person or perhaps immature is a better word. Life isn't a bed of roses in case your parents forgot to teach you that lesson. We take the good with the bad and we make the best of it. McCain, with all his faults, and yes with the threat of a possible amnesty, is still the far better alternative!

You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't have to vote for your liberal candidate, even if he does wear an R jersey.
I have been posting about amnesty since McCain/Kennedy first raised its ugly head in '06.

Well, Bilary pulled out a squeaker in Indiana but for those who believe she will heed McGovern and other former supporters and pull out, you have another think coming! She will take this to Denver, if necessary, and prostrate herself on the floor of the Pepsi Center, if necessary, unless she gets a commitment from Osama/Obama that she will at least be the VP nominee. Then, if and when they get elected, she’ll be in touch with her old hit teams and have Osama/Obama removed, one way or another.
You heard it here first, folks!
