Cap and Trade Bill Hits MN the Hardest

During the first week of June, the U.S. Senate is scheduled to consider Cap and Trade legislation - more aptly called Tax and Trade legislation. Here are some pretty depressing stats to consider should this bill become law. Be sure to click on the links for details. The bottom line: this is bad news for Minnesota.
According to The Heritage Foundation's Center for Data Analysis Report on the Cap and Trade bill (S. 2191), Minnesota would lead the nation in per-capita job loss should this legislation become law. Across the country, the already hard hit manufacturing sector of our economy would lose millions more jobs. Household energy costs would rise dramatically, and household income would decline.
What is cap and trade? In this case, the federal government would impose arbitrary limits on six emission gases, with the primary emphasis on carbon dioxide. In order to cap these emissions, the government would sell permits to power plants, refineries, and natural gas producers, which will be passed along in the form of increased energy costs to consumers (much like an energy tax). It will lead to large transfers of income from people in Minnesota to special interests in Washington.
How much will it cost you? When S. 2191 is fully implemented in Minnesota, the average household would see energy costs rise by $823 more per year in 2025 because of this legislation. The increase in the average electric bill would be at least 80% more than under current law, and the average natural gas bill increase would be at least 37% over current projections if S. 2191 becomes law.
Moreover, according to the Heritage analysis, the trade-off for the damage this Tax and Trade bill would do to the economy is "...very little change in global temperature...perhaps even smaller than the .07 of a degree Celsius drop in temperature that many scientisits expected from worldwide compliance with the Kyoto climate change accords."

We're talking about a state which is contemplating sending a rabid subhuman like Al Franken to the US Senate; and this after they disgraced our nation with the cowardly and incoherent Mark Dayton. If anywhere DESERVES to be hit with high energy prices its states like MN,MA,MI,NY,NJ,CA and everywhere where people are stupid enough to vote for Democrats. |
|
...don't seem to care if they play havoc with the economy robbing people of their wealth, health, prosperity, and future retirement in the process.
Hey knuckle heads, a strong US economy is the only engine that can produce enough wealth to sustain environmental responsibility.
Look how poor China, India, and the former Soviet Union are doing environmentally.
How many layers of protection will make you feel safe?
Maybe we can build sanitary bubbles for you all to live in so you won't be exposed to anything harmful real or imagined.
I am all for responsible scrubbing of the exhaust of coal and oil fired processes, but carbon dioxide? No way. There is no data to back up the man made carbon dioxide link to climate change.
We all know people like you, obsessed with hand sanitizers, organic foods and breathing masks. You see germs and toxins everywhere you look.
I wouldn't use that keyboard if I were you! It's made of plastic.
Oh! Another oil product! Run for your lives!
As far as drilling and burning out of this mess? Yes we can, and with great ease, and with no environmental impact thank you very much.
Unless you environmental alarmists make some attempt to support a sustainable solution such as responsible drilling, you will have no support from the general population. Do you want to be part of the solution or considered a wacko?

So you not only dismiss global warming/climate change, but also the connection between mercury and health problems? And the connection between coal-fired power plants and mercury in the air? You people are something else. You think we can just burn and drill our way out of this energy mess we're in?
Oh, that's right, the End Times are near so we don't have to worry about any of that anyway. |
|
|
Can't the lefties just abort the mercury filled babies anyway? I don't see a problem. Save the fish! Kill the fetus'! We have to continue to be the voice of reason on this Global Hoaxing & fear mongering...it's gonna get ya! Chicken little. |

is a ball of 91.2% hydrogen, 8.7 % helium, and about 8 other measurable trace elements. Might not this have something to do with any manifest change to our climate? Throughout history the only constant regarding the climate is change.
Coincidentally, a solar probe a few years back reported data that brought scientists new information regarding our sun, to whit, that fluctuations in its radiation were more frequent and more profound than previously understood.
Climate change has been observed on Mars and Jupiter as well. As much as the lichen worshipers might fantisize to the contrary, humanity is not responsible for these changes.
We, us the United States of America, are doing it better, more cleanly, more efficiently than ever. To what useful purpose do we shoot ourselves in the foot with such idiotic legislation?
No reasonable person is advocating we abuse our environment, but we can take full advantage of our natural resources in a fashion that will give our children a reasoanble chance of having a decent future. Unfortunately quisling politicians and useful idiot Gaia worshipers are propelling us towards an income redistribution scheme that will ensure a two-tiered society in perpetuity. |

Why is man made global warming a hoax?
There is no consensus scientific data or theory to back up man made global warming. The ability of water and water vapor to store energy is much higher than that of gases like CO2. Other atmospheric effects such as convection and cloud cover (water vapor again) are also involved. The temperature variation of the earth is effected primarily by the solar radiation variation of the sun and the temperature variations of the earth's atmosphere is determined primarily by the heating variations of the (ocean) water from this solar energy.
The data likewise confirms this theory. And it is a very strong correlation.
31,000 scientists across the country were willing to sign a petition declaring that scientific data does not support the theory of man made global warming as presented by Mr. Al Gore. I seriously doubt the Mr. Gore has the technical credentials to defend his global warming claims.
A representative article that looks at REAL satellite data is at:
http://icecap.us/images/uploads/Evans-CO2DoesNotCauseGW.pdf
Please read it and draw your own conclusions.
The greatest danger to our country is for it's citizens to be ignorant of the issues involved and to depend upon our politicians and environmentalists for technical information.
Much is at stake for our economy, security, and general welfare. I can think of no better adjective for this irresponsible misrepresentation of the science than "treasonous".

On the subject of "independent thought"...
You state man-made climate change is a hoax. Why? Because Rush tells you so?
And then you reach for that Neo-con standby, the "treason" smear. Right. McCain is "treasonous" because he thinks about the future, and uses common sense to solve problems. |

Destroying your retirement savings and sending your job to India is good for the fish? Where do I sign! |

Get a clue Bachmann. Do you know why Minnesota has a statewide fish consumption advisory for mercury? Go here and educate yourself:
www (dot) health.state.mn.us/divs/eh/fish/faq (dot)html
In Minnesota, mercury is the contaminant in fish that causes the most concern. Air pollution is the major source of mercury that contaminates the fish in Minnesota’s lakes and rivers (see Sources of Mercury Pollution and the Methylmercury Contamination of Fish in Minnesota Attention: Non-MDH link). About 70 percent of the mercury in the air is the result of emissions from coal combustion, mining, incineration of mercury-containing products and other human sources. Over time, fish can accumulate relatively high mercury concentrations. That’s why it’s important to make wise choices about the fish you eat and how often you eat it.
Large amounts of mercury may harm the nervous system. Young children, developing fetuses and breast-fed babies are at most risk, because small amounts of mercury can damage a brain that is just starting to form or grow. Too much mercury may affect a child’s behavior and lead to learning problems later in life. The first symptoms of adult mercury poisoning include incoordination and burning or tingling sensation in the fingers and toes. As mercury levels increase, your ability to walk, talk, see, and hear may all be affected in subtle ways.
Yet Michele Bachmann will do everything she can to encourage more coal-burning power plants and to discourage pollution prevention--all the while posting pictures on her website of her catching fish in Minnesota. It doesn't get much phonier than this, congresswoman.

Cap and trade is the biggest boondoggle ever. Of course John McCain is leading the charge. Who else has delivered more for the left? |
|
Lieberman-Warner Climate Change Legislation to limit our energy supply is bad for us and our economy, period.
Man made global warming is a hoax.
How much independent thought does that take?
The US Senate should do everyone a favor and kill this foolish and treasonous legislation. If not, its time for a good house (and senate) cleaning in November, 2010, and 2012.

How about saying something important. All you told us is that you don't believe anything the Heritage Foundation says. Well, here is what the WSJ said today:
online.wsj.com/article/SB121184454327221281.html?mod=opinion_main_review_and_outlooks
Here is a chart that John Hinderaker posted today at Powerline:
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/05/020620.php
This an idea being proposed by Shoeless John McCain and represents the biggest and most opaque bureaucracy every dreamed up and there is zero accountability for how the funds get disbursed. It is a scam and is creating the possibility of corruption on a scale never before imagined. AND it destroys the economy. |
|
Oh Good. Another Heritage Foundation prediction.
Let’s hope they are as right about this as they were about being greeted with flowers and candy in Iraq. Or their prediction that we wouldn’t need more troops for peace keeping than we did for the toppling of Saddam. Or that the war would cost a billion dollars and no more because the oil from Iraq would pay for the rest. Or that we would be out of Iraq in 6 months.
Perhaps Michelle could come up with another more credible source for her “facts”. Where does the Heritage Foundation get its funding from? Big oil.
Cap and trade may be a bad idea or not. But the general rule is that if the Heritage Foundation is against it then it’s most likely good for the average guy.
How about some independent thinking?
