Hillary & Barack: Another Obama Rhetoric-Reality Disconnect?
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 12:15 PM
With all his talk of bipartisanship, Barack Obama has been one of the most consistently partisan (and the most left-wing) senators in D.C.  That fact shows that while he talks a good game, the reality doesn't live up to the rhetoric.

Here's another glaring example:  Barack has told donors that Hillary is in the running.  Likewise, he's informed the press and the public that Hillary would be "on anybody's short list."

Except his, apparently.  His campaign didn't VET Senator Clinton, according to this morning's "Politico," or extend her the mere courtesy of even pretending to consider her seriously.

Don't get me wrong -- as I noted last night there are plenty of good reasons not to pick Hillary.  But to try to woo donors and convince her voters that she's under serious consideration when, in fact, that's not the case is deceptive, no?

And if he'd somehow turn around and choose Hillary at the eleventh hour -- in a panic about the polls -- what does it tell you about his judgment that he'd select a candidate he hadn't even vetted?  Certainly it would bespeak a certain recklessness (does he really think everything that needs to be known about the Clintons is publicly available) in pursuit of perceived political gain.

In any case, it seems somewhat odd, and perhaps revealing of sub-optimal political-diplomatic judgment, that the Obama team wouldn't at least extend the little courtesies, including requests for documents, etc., that would allow him to claim with some credibility that he had given Hillary due consideration as a potential running mate.

Is Obama Right?
"As mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality."

perhaps they didn't waste time vetting a candidate who clearly has already been vetted many times before.

I may be wrong, but I think most people would agree her history is pretty well known.

Something ain't right here.....
The Hillary we all know and revile does not go quietly. She has managed to get a concession on the MI/FL delegates, has a prime speaking slot, and will have her name placed in nomination.

This is the sneakiest broad in the history of sneaky broads. Don't be too surprised if she tries to pull a fast one and suddenly it's the messiah on the outside looking in....

All she needs is one little nugget from Obama's past at just the right time that can be mined for a few days....

Hope I'm wrong....
....but it's not going to be Hillary.

But, gee! How'd I'd love to watch all the Neo-Con freaks pass out in a dead faint.

On Hillary's history: if any candidate has ever been totally, completely, 100% investigated, it's Hillary. There is no "news" there.

Amen!

She has been WAY to quiet through all this and so has Bill...

I can't wait until Wednesday to watch this all play out.

And I don't believe he has ever seriously considered her for his veep. Not for one second. He's too afraid she would steal his thunder...

If you were Duncan, would you place Lady MacBeth behind you with a knife in her hand....?

Paddy, I think your references to Shakespeare will be lost of this trailer park crowd.

However, I'll play along as part of my daily guilty pleasure of coming to this site.

Duncan was always in the front. Lady Macbeth was always behind, pushing. Sometimes gently, sometimes forcibly, but always from behind. Macbeth had neither the desire nor the brains to pull off the coup alone.

Just think of Dan and Marilyn Quayle.

Ingrates, HILL earned/deserves respect!
Obama hasn't got the good common sense to pick the best of the rest for VP, Clinton. She would be picking her VP if Obama hadn't won by default.

Well, you mixed up your characters a little bit, but I get your point.

Duncan was the murdered Scottish king, MacBeth the murderer at the urging of his wife....who still somehow felt she had blood on her hands....

Too bad Gilligan's Island couldn't have done MacBeth instead of Hamlet....!
