So, the Dems are in power and suddenly the dastardly deficit, created solely by Bush's irresponsible tax cuts for the rich, doesn't matter anymore.
Why? Because now Dems get to do the deficit spending! Of course, the real problem was always overspending, but since everyone made such a big deal about the deficit for six years, it's only fair to point out that Bush has cut it in half three years ahead of time without rolling back tax cuts:
That's what my column is on today, too. Deficit Spending: Trendy and Misguided, Just Like Leggings! And, don't worry. Republicans are so not off the hook:
Of course, Republicans are far, far, far from blameless in the deficit debacle (I'd add more "fars," but I have a word limit). Given the economic growth and uptick in revenues Bush has presided over, we'd all be even better off by now if the Republican Congress had ever learned to keep its perk-granting, pork-proliferating pen in its pants, and Bush had learned to take the veto pen out of his.
If they had done so, we would not be faced with today's Democratic Congress, which is so all-fired anxious to take one of the real domestic victories of the last six years away from all of us to pay for "investments" in the "transformation" of America into a more advanced welfare state. Thanks to Donald Luskin for the Krugman quote, and Bizzy Blog for some stats. Both are linked in the column, too. And, thanks to Justin for production, as usual!

The Democrats will fund 'pay as you go' by cutting back on our military / ability to defend ourselves, among other things. |
|
if you are looking for a guest speaker-may I suggest Dr. Del Taggert, Focus on the Family, Colorado Springs, Co. He has done a DVD Series on Biblical World View, is a retired military officer and has a Ph D in history. His lesson 10 is right on your arguments that the US has lost it's Judeo/Christian heritage. |

Fatback and collards. Mmmmmmm. |

I will vouch for what you are saying. I just did the study, and it was outstanding. Good call. |

Because my wife has a couple of cookbooks, but none like that. |

Collards, conservative classy chick in the kitchen cooking 'em. Guys, it just doesn't get any better than this...

It's cause they don't really need 'em when they've gotta clock right there on the stove.

1 cup of hot republican babe fudging numbers 247.7 billion tablespoons of national debt 1 can of Bush Apologist BS A liberal dash of dem congress
Mix all the ingredients together. Pop in the oven for 2 years and voila, out comes more national debt. Thanks, largely to the former republican congress and this irresponsible administration.
Here are the facts from the AP (not youtube):
"But in making that claim [of halving the deficit], the president is using the administration's original forecast of what the 2004 deficit was expected to be _ not what it actually turned out to be.
Back when Bush made his promise, the administration was predicting that the 2004 deficit would be $521 billion. That prediction turned out to be off by $100 billion. To achieve the feat of slicing the actual 2004 deficit number in half, the federal deficit Bush was highlighting would have to have dropped to $206 billion, not $247.7 billion.
The long-term deficit picture remains bleak."

247.7 billion tablespoons of federal deficit
Let's not even talk about the national debt... |

That video is so cute. She's trying to be like big sister Michelle Malkin.

From a can MKH? Black-eyed peas from a can. Please say it ain't so. |

are collared greens just spinach? or are they something else? |
|
...cookbook..."
lol!
another good one! frankly, no other pundit has laid the tax cut blather out so concisely.
one more piece of unsocitied technical advise, and after that i promise i'll stop. get a cheap clip-on mic. then when you go from shot to shot, your audio will sound roughly the same. |
|
|
The CNN story said "an amazing feat of prestidigitation," which you noted in your column. I'm sure you only cut that word from HamNation for space. |
|

They are not spinach. They are along the same lines as turnip and mustard greens. I've been told that Northerners prefer to eat just the roots of these vegetables, but the leafy parts mixed with the roots are mighty tasty. |

First time on your blog. That was a very informative video, Mary K. When are you going to be on Fox? |

Whats that recipe where the "Cream" rises to the top? Or is that a recipe? But thats what we're going to see over the next 2 years. The GOP Cream will rise to the top - especially in the Senate. What was it I heard yesterday that Sen. McConnell only needs 41 votes to block anything in the Senate? Its going to take courage on their part and I believe Mitch has what it takes. Once they start blocking all the bad legislation that the Dem's send their way, and the President agree's he'll sign off on, well the MSM is going to shift its negative attention onto these GOP Senators. Its going to get "hot in their kitchen", too.Manyofthem will cave in but the best will withstand the withering fire. Those that stand tall will need our help and encouragement. We need to be ready to fall in behind them and give them our support. DD http://streetlevel.townhall.com |

You really buy that crap about the deficit being reduced by half? That's a hoot. Of course, all the administration needed to do to get that result was overstate the estimated deficit in its forecasts, then claim a reduction when it didn't reach that amount. And of course, it's verrrry helpful to simply not count some pesky debts, like a few billion dollars of war spending which was "off-budget" and therefore not counted. Oh, and naturally we didn't count the monies borrowed from the Asians and Mexicans and anyone else with a checkbook. We just pretended the borrowed money was revenue. Yay, pretending's fun.
Mmm, I love the smell of cooked books in the morning. Smells like ... delusion. |

Every good Georgia girl is, in fact.
I'm just saying.....;) |
|

And right thinking too! I'm new to townhall, are there any more videos starring this dream come true? |

O.K. I was curious. I had accidently blundered onto this (I blunder, not surf, gimme a break, I learned to type on a typewriter). Just checked out Mary Katherine Ham's blog. A true diamond in the rough. Especially for the techno-challenged like me. Excellent links that worked. One of the best I've seen so far (limited experience). Some of the left-leaning insulters should go elsewhere though, there are plenty of hate-Bush sites on which to share their altenative reality. |
