Biden: Palin is a 'Backwards' Step for Women
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 9:44 AM
Sarah Palin acknowledged that Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton broke political headway for women, but Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden isn't returning the favor. He says Palin is "backward" for women. He doesn't say she's "backward" on any particular issue, only that he assumes her thoughts are a carbon-copy of President Bush and John McCain's and well, they're just "backward," too.  I guess a pretty little woman like her just takes her orders from the big boys. Ha.

Roll the tape, transcript below:

REPORTER:Do you think if she does win it would be a step forward for women

BIDEN:Well, look. I think the issue is what does Sarah Palin think, what does she believe? I assume she thinks and agrees with the same policies that George Bush and John McCain think and that's obviously a backwards step for women.

Why the edit?
I wonder what the next line in the tape was? The sharp edit showed that someone didn't want us to listen to Biden's complete answer, just a sound bite.

But listen to the sound bite, he did not say that a women vice president was a step backwards, he said the McCain/Bush policies were a step backward and if Sarah endorsed them it would be a step back for women.

I am getting tired of the RNC trying to show Republicans are stupid by giving them dumb interpretations of statements that are made in the campaign. Give us facts, not fluff.

Obama
Any man that would take his children to listen to Reverend Wright preach his hatred against America and against white people, worries me. I cannot believe that he had associated with Reverend Wright for 20 years and did not know of his hatred, or hear him preach it.

Okay, that's just nuts
If a woman in the White House as VP is a backward step for women, I'm the Queen Mum.

Does Biden think before he speaks?

Kimhazel, the typical lib
Not true at all! I am not a judgmental person as the left has shown themselves to be (although only harshly judgmental when it comes to non-leftists). If it was a liberal woman whose daughter was unmarried and pregnant, being a mother, my heart would go out to her and the daughter. I may be against her politics, but I would not rail against her home life. That's not how I roll. Obviously, Kimberly, it is how you roll because you are so quick to project that onto me.

The left likes to shriek and yell, and then when called out, they like to make excuses, or they like to say--but you do it too. Own up to what you are saying. Own up to your hypocrisy and hatred, and stop trying to deny it exists. It is obvious. If you aren't proud of what you are saying and doing, then stop saying and doing it.

Dottie writes: Tuesday, September, 09, 2008 9:25 PM
The left is a hoot
I am enjoying watching the libs go from smug to sheer panic within a few weeks! Listen to them; they are making fools of themselves with regularity. I was not sure about McCain, but when he picked Palin, he started looking better. The hatred and vitriol aimed at her over the last week and a half have really been an eye-opener to me! I always knew the left were hypocrites, but they have really outdone themselves with her.

I find it interesting that Biden says Palin would be a step backward for women. It has always been my belief that Obama would be a huge step backward for blacks. The country is not ready for a Marxist who believes the US need to be brought down a peg or two; a man whose wife has never been proud of America until her husband was doing well in the primaries. The country is not ready for a man who attended a racist church for twenty years and only stopped going when the church became a political liability. Obama would be a disaster for blacks. Is the country ready for a black president? You bet it is! That black president is NOT Barak Obama, however.

To Fashion:
First of all: You wish you'd look as classy, professional, and just plain chic as Sarah Palin looks. I think you are sooooo jealous!!!!Her updo compliments her face structure and overall personality. Your sense of "fashion" needs a reality check, my dear...Not only does she have the looks, but the wits and intelligence to top it off. Second point: Alaska is no New York, but when it comes to natural and energy resources, it sure tops any state in the lower 48's. Third point: Gov. Palin took the corrupted Republican establishment(ran by men)and "cleaned house" among other things. Now, last time I check, Biden hasn't done any "fixing" in his party...So, who is "backwards" here? The answer is simple:Joe Biden. Who is the refomer? Sarah Palin, and by the way, McCain too...It seems that when it comes to being "progressive and open minded" dems can't take it. One thing I do know:The Obama-Biden ticket surge has stopped, and the McCain-Palin ticket has soared...Obama dumped Hillary for Biden looking more to the past(experience in foreign policies) and less to the future(Hillary Care, etc.)Who is "backwards" now?LOL!!Palin Power! Women Power!!!Now that's a progressive ticket:Two proven reformers with a record to show it...

Palin is backwards?
I really have to laugh at Biden. He's very entertaining to say the least! He puts me in mind of a used car saleman struggling to make a $50 commission. I hope he doesn't consider himself as a representation of todays male. I would venture to say Mr Biden that most of todays American women would love to be in sarah palins shoes. She's a doll!!
RASHUM writes: Tuesday, September, 09, 2008 11:03 AM
only thing backwards
Only thing moving backwards these days are Obama/Biden's poll numbers!
Sandyp99 writes: Tuesday, September, 09, 2008 10:45 AM
Now I understand!
This is why Joe Biden has to plagarize! His own lines are lame and borderline ridiculous!

Making fun of Sarah's hair is about as relevant as discussing Biden's hair plugs. I think most people will chose their leaders based on their positions on the issues over if they are wearing Armani or not.....

the only thing "backwards" is you Joe, back to the Senate in november.

Re: Fashion
First of all, I think she looks fantastic. I think she dressy classy and not like a two cent whore. She dresses to be in power. Her glasses are great. Her hair: Big hair is always in one way or another.

Her fashion has nothing to do though with her ability to lead. She has proved she has the ability to be a great leader.

There is nothing wrong with big families. I am the oldest of 19 in my generation of the family...that's a lot of cousins. And they aren't done yet! I want a big family. Big families are strong.

Back in the 60s and 70s all people knew were large families. It's a fantastic thing to grow up with such a strong support system. I am one of 4. I don't know what I would do without my siblings.

Having a big family doesn't mean you are stuck in the past. It means that you aren't selfish and you have a tremendous capacity for love.

Amazing
It is truly amazing the mentality of the left. They will knock someone’s position only because they cannot do it. There are those that do and those who can't criticize and lie only to trying to benefit themselves, actually they show how ignorant and stupid that they really are.
