Happy birthday, America, and many more! How blessed we are to live in a country that came into being because of an idea -- and an ideal -- that all human beings deserved to be free.
Many brave men and women have given their lives for that idea, and that ideal. Ronald Reagan once offered a warning that's worth keeping in mind as we celebrate the 233 years since this glorious nation's founding:
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.
Happy Independence Day -- and God bless America!

I attended the church of my choice.
No state church to dictate my belief system and no punishment for being a Separatist (rebel) as some of my English ancestors were. My resultant American ancestors weren't tarred and feathered for being LDS in the wildness of the American Frontier and their homes burned and stock stolen. That's all history. I am free.
I could read the holy writ and pray in public. I could raise my voice in songs of praise to God as I understand Him to be. I could teach little children to respect the freedom of religion they enjoy in this land as I teach them to be tolerant of other views of religious teachings.
No body posted my name on the internet for my support of traditional family values today and my support for the civil rights of all Americans.
I can sleep in peace tonight even though I have worshipped in public today because I live in land that still protects religious liberty.
I defend your right to not believe in Deity, to sit on the philosophical fence and make up your own modern New Age Religion, your right to believe in science or human logic as the ultimate moral authority, or be aligned with the numerous sects of Christianity. I defend your right to be a non Christian but of another religious system. But Joshua said it well long ago that as for him and his house, he would serve the Lord.
I claim my American right to worship God and allow you to make a different choice. We are both citizens of a grand country. I am proud to be an American.

and for apollo, we are well aware of the danger at our door. It is insidious.
As is our custom though, some of us took a moment on the 4th to celebrate our country's independence from the yoke of oppression. What a vision our founding fathers had.
I went to the home of a friend where we had our annual 4th of July pancake breakfast complete with flag raising by our cub scouts. It was moving.
Many crusty old warriors in our midst yesterday shed a tear as that banner was raised. We recited the pledge of elegance and sang God Bless America.
In the evening I went to our local tea party celebration.
All in all it was a great day to be an American.

How many died so that the state could take their property and give it to someone else who could generate more tax revenue?
How many died so that they would be forbidden to take out a campaign ad 60 days before an election?
How many died so that General Motors could be subsidized and then taken from the secured lenders and given to the unions?
How many died so that pork projects could be used to buy the votes to pass Cap and Trade?
How many died so that no oil wells will be drilled in the US? Or died so that energy prices would double?
How many died so that Afghanistan could sentence apostates to death?
Sorry Carol, but that "Brave Americans died for us" just doesn't wash any more. This isn't the America of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. This is the America of Progressivism, anti-capitalism and anti-individualism. These are the new ideals of America, an America that voluntarily castrated and subjugated itself.
The America of Bush-Obama is just another European style social democracy. The ideals that made America great have long since been sold for votes.
Before you celebrate think for a moment whether what you love about America is really there. Is it really the "land of the free and the home of the brave" or is it just a bunch of smiling zoo animals, indifferent to their captivity?
The first step on the road to freedom is the acknowledgment that you are not on that road now. |

The bloggers at the Huffington Post are making excuses for Alaskan blogger and radio personality, Shannyn Moore, who was a guest on MSNBC and told David Schuster some whoppers. Palin is under investigation(untrue) SS Palin is about to hit an iceburg (untrue)It's rumored said Moore, who by the way spread the rumors about Palin in the first place.
Moore also writes for the Huffington Post so they are now citing the First Amendment, freedom of speech, as if those who invent lies and then spread them like wildfire are protected under the U.S. Constitution. I think not.
Politicans and celebrities have no recourse against those who spread gossip, rumors and lies, but ordinary citizens do.
So like rats on the SS Palin, liberal bloggers are jumping ship, making excuses, locking the basement doors, and crying, just doing a total CYA, Lonny.

I built a platform, and a bunch of us, dressed in colonial garb, walked through a busy park, stopping randomly to read the Declaration of Independence. We handed out 2,000 copies of the Declaration of Independence along with info on the 9-12 Project and the time and location of our next meeting.
We ended our readings with this quote,
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!"

It was reported this morning on TV that her lawyer said essentially that and she's going after big and small.
The first will most likely be a liberal blogger from Alaska who wrote that Sarah is under federal investigation.
The FBI confirmed that she is not and will not be under federal investigation, i.e., nothing to investigate.

He talked about experiences he's had in the Republic of Georgia and other former communist countries that became unable to produce enough food for their own populations when the state took over agriculture and took away incentives -- or free enterprise.
You'd be surprised how quickly the 'lights' went out those countries when freedom was extinguished by big brother government.
Without the light of personal freedom, the spirit of a nation wilts like a flower without water -- and dies.
It wasn't a problem of polution or poor soil quality or even water: it was a problem of the government taking away basic rights --- which affected the food available for citizens to eat.
80% of the food at that time came from humanitarian aid!! That is just another name for world welfare that perpetuates itself.
I heard the stirring national anthemn and other patriotic classics and proudly pledged allegiance of our land as the local scouts presented our national colors. Kids sang Yankee Doodle with flags and marching on stage. Teens performed spirited dance numbers (with modest actions and costumes). Older men prayed. There was wonderful cowboy poetry, and a spirit of celebration. Did I mention the Dutch Oven delights we shared at the park?? Yummmm.
Old fashioned races and games sprinkled with a light summer rain -- adults mingling with folks from nearby communities -- families gathered for reunions -- all in the rich flavors of freedom: the right to assemble, the right to worship, the right to speak of the Founding documents and to praise God for the courage of the Founding fathers.
I hope you have similar experiences...I'm proud to be an American...every day.

we had a superb 4th of July Celebration at USAF SS 6932 RSM, TUSLOG Det 3-2, in Samsun, Turkey. All you could eat in the chow hall, all you could eat at the Club (for some reason, the chow hall and club menus were always the same) all the Becks beer (free) you could drink at the club, and a hotly contested softball game between "Baker" and "Charlie" tricks at the ball field. Even our base mascot, Gulan the brown Turkish bear, received a special ration of beer although it was against base regulations. We still have our liberty and freedom; let's do everything we can to keep it that way. |

When an American child and their Mother are away from the U.S. on the 4th of July, they go to a U.S. installation and have a burger and fries and jello with the Airman and State Dept. folks that invite them in to eat at the cafeteria.
The sun never sets on American or the strength of memory, when you've been given the freedom we've been handed by others for us to pass along again in our time.
