Family Research Council just sent out this in their daily email:
"Last night, we received disturbing reports that McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis had been making phone calls to state leaders to gauge their reactions to the selection of a pro-abortion running mate. Most signs pointed to former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge. Big problem! Governor Ridge is not only aggressively pro-abortion, supporting measures like the Freedom of Choice Act, which would have overturned most state laws on abortion, while serving as a U.S. Congressman, he was well known for publicly opposing many of President Reagan's policies relating to national defense and siding instead with liberal Democrats. This afternoon Fox News is reporting that officials at the Republican National Committee are knocking down the reports of a pro-abortion running mate for McCain. If so, the Arizona Senator has averted a misstep that would not only have cost him the ground he gained over the past week but probably assured him of defeat this November."

It would be a heck of a lot of fun, but I doubt it. McCain will play it safe and go young and pro-life; Obama will play it safe and go older and someone with lots of foreign experience. |
|
...big point with pro-lifers at Saddleback. Even the hint of a flirtation with pro-choicers undercuts that recently-won confidence. Stupid
This maverick needs to settle down and settle on what he believes. You have to wonder who's advising him.
Mack, himself, probably doesn't understand why Lieberman or Ridge don't work for voters. IF so, that's very scary.
Or may it's a clever ploy to make Romney more acceptable in certain quarters. I doubt they are that clever though.
Mitt's man my. We'll see soon. |

He was the first Secretary of Homeland Security, a department that when it isn't being reviled for it's heavy handed missteps, is being laughed at for it's incompetence.

There are new "reports" on the VP choice almost every single day. A few weeks ago people were sure that it was Palin or Jindal. This week it's Ridge for some people. There's no point in this guessing game. It only gets people excited or agitated for no reason. For all we know, McCain hasn't decided yet. So maybe this report is true that they were gauging the reaction, but that doesn't mean anything other than they were looking at what the response would be. No matter who he chooses, some people are going to be all angry about it. I say we let the guy pick, hear the reasoning for the pick, and then decide for ourselves whether it's a positive pick or not. It's also wise to remember that historically, the power of the vice president varies. Cheney is powerful, but others weren't. Back in history it was looked on as a nothing job. Other VPs want to be groomed for the presidency, but that's not always the case either. |

Latest report from RNC is that Gov Ridge is no longer being considered. |

Now all the Dems have to do is pick Lindsey Graham and the merger of both parties is complete! Not a whiff of conservatism to be found anywhere. Everyone can now wear there contempt for voters openly and with relish. Why should the politicians respect us when we hold ourselves in such contempt that we hold our noses and vote for ANY of these guys. |
|
|
If we do our voting with noses held tightly. |

Everyone keep your hands in your pockets, your OWN pockets. Great for treating chronic bad habits like nail biting and nose holding.
Man rule? |

The way I see things, depending on McCain's VP pick, there are 1 of 3 things I will do: 1.) Vote for and volunteer to help McCain get out the vote, 2.) Hold my nose and vote for McCain, or 3.) Vote 3rd party. Here's how I see that breaking down (listed in order of best to worst picks possible on each list):
Enthusiastically Voting for McCain: ----------------------------------- 1.) Huckabee 2.) Jindal 3.) Palin 4.) Hunter
Holding Nose Voting for McCain: ------------------------------- 1.) Pawlenty 2.) Romney 3.) Cantor 4.) Sanford 5.) Crist 6.) Kasich
Will Not Vote for McCain: ------------------------- 1.) Ridge 2.) Lieberman 3.) Giuliani |
|
Amazing, isn't it? With all of the good, qualified people who could lead this great nation and we get McCain and Obama? Pathetic.
I'm choosing "none of the above". |

Fits the bill. Prissy, loyal, inept, obsessed with image, generic politician. Good family connections. Probably plays polo and squash too. |

Oy. Must be why Maliki and al Sadr want us out ASAP. Some friends. They are playing hardball with American oil companies but giving away sweetheart deals to the Chinese and Russians. I can see where this is going after the next "election". Could we have our $trillion back? |

I told you following Ernst Borgine's advice would make you feel better about things. |

This is spot on:

And Yes, McCain can play Mavericky but not with his Veep choice. Don't make the Defeatocons happy. |

by Broadway Joe Smithers
He walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright Meet in his aspect and his eyes: Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies. One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impair'd the nameless grace Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er his face; Where thoughts serenely sweet express How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent!
To be sung while dancing in tights and holding your nose. Great for cross-dressers like Joe. |
