Pelosi is Running Out the Clock on FISA
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 12:52 PM
Instead of working to reauthorize FISA legislation, the Democratic House of Representatives is using precious floor time to debate charges of contempt against former White House aide Josh Bolton and former White House counsel Harriet Miers.

The FISA bill, which regulates how the government monitors terrorist communications, expires Saturday. Hugh talked about how important this law is here.

Congress usually leaves town on Thursday evenings--just a few hours from now. And, we know Pelosi is eager to get back home this weekend because of her daughter's wedding.

Update 1:51 pm:  Republican members of the House are staging a walkout to protest Democratic leadrship's decision to pursue contempt votes instead of doing any FISA work.

This FISA bill
doesn't regulate terrorists' communications.

It retroactively gives the Federal Gov a blank check to spy on us all -- which they did since January 2001 -- not after 9/11.

It also gives the telecoms immunity for collaborating with that illegal spying.

If the telecoms simply go through the FISA court, they already get immunity.

It's a bad bill that gives the Federal government the power to spy on innocent citizens at their discretion with NO oversight.

You are Misleading in your article
If the current FISA authorization runs out, there still is the 1978 FISA law in full effect.
Stop misleading with the implication that the US will be unable to wire tap terrorists; the US still will be able to, they will just have judicial over site. You are straight up FEAR MONGERING!
We know from the 911 report that there was actionable intelligence from wiretaps and other sources that fore told 911. It is a fact.
Fear mongering such as printed in this article is just method to advance a political agenda that IMO subverts the Constitution & Bill of Rights and allow an unaccountable "Unitary Executive" i.e. A KING!
