What If Barack Had Been President?
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 3:30 PM
From today's London Times:

American and Iraqi forces are driving Al-Qaeda in Iraq out of its last redoubt in the north of the country in the culmination of one of the most spectacular victories of the war on terror.

After being forced from its strongholds in the west and centre of Iraq in the past two years, Al-Qaeda’s dwindling band of fighters has made a defiant “last stand” in the northern city of Mosul.

So much for the argument that Barack's superior "judgment" justifies his election as President.  If his policy had won the day, American troops would have been leaving Iraq with their tails between their legs, and Al-Qaeda in Iraq would be proclaiming triumph.

After all, here is what Barack had to say as of September 13, 2007:

There is no military solution in Iraq, and there never was.  The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq's leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or one year, but now. (emphasis added).

OBAMA'S STAND
If obama has a backbone, I would like to know where it can be found.

Politicians usually modify their stand on many issues as the election draws near, but this guy is all over the map. Much has been said and written about his flip flops, but I can't even find what he stands for. It seems to me we need someone with Principals and Consistency in these perilous economic times.

If you think we are not winning in Iraq, talk to a soldier who has been there over the past 12 months. Obama strictly caters to the audience of the hour on this issue.

Please deliver us from blindness and pure hatred from the Left.

Obama
has no clue what is going on in Iraq just like the liberal left. The surge is working, our military is doing more hamanitrian work for the Iraqi's. They are not living in fear of Saddam or his death sqauds, The Fedayeen, In addition to operating masked death squads - often executing people in their homes - the Fedayeen allegedly beheaded more than 200 women as part of an anti-prostitution campaign in 2000-2001, forcing the victims' families to display the heads outside their homes, according to the U.S. State Department. The group is also in charge of enforcing night curfews as well as controlling major intersections within Baghdad.

Terror would abate under Obama
Actually, under an Obama as president with the help of the current dem leadership in congress, terrorist attacks would probably abate.

It would abate because Mr. president would sit down with Mahmoud and oter terrorists, smile pretty and give them anything they want in exchange for not attacking us (for awhile).
He'd leave office with his peace prize.
A short while hence, we would find our economy and justice system co-opted to the UN, no military to resist, and then the real terror would begin as we would be forced to submit to sharia law.

King Liberal
A few questions for the “King”

Do you know how many bases the Marines are dismantling right now because the level of violence where they are is nil?

On what basis can you support “in-fact” the blanket statements you have made?

Do you know what “in-fact” means and its internal requirement of truthfulness and objective and independent collaboration?

Do you remember all of the other reasons given to make the case for the invasion?

Does the ‘fact’ that the last of Saddam’s weapons-grade Uranium stockpile was delivered to a Canadian port this past week point for or against the existence of a program to create a nuclear device?

Does the fact that stockpiles of a large variety of nerve and chemical agents were indeed destroyed by Saddam prior to the war point for or against the existence of a program under his control to develop and manufacture these WMD’s?

Are you a supporter of the United Nations?

Have you read the Daufler report (sorry it is a name I simply cannot seem to spell) from front to back? If so, you most assuredly would not be making any of the absurd claims you doubtless make about the WMD issues that you do. Or you would continue to because, well the “King of the Liberals” would certainly not let actual facts stand in the way of his beliefs.

Cheers,

Bloefeld

Kimmie, King Liberal
Obama as prez, we would have just had 3000 cilvilans killed on 9/11, Afganistan would not have been invaded, Obamam would just try to negotiate with Al queda, Probably more terrorist actions would have been carried out against the U.S. Wat part don't you guys understand about RADICAL jihadist? They want to kill all americans unless america cunverts to Islam, The RADICAL jihadsits would kill any liberal for not embracing Islam!!!!

Just ingnore Monkey Girl. In the two years I have been reading TownHall she has been the same. The only thing that has changed are her tag lines...she used to use the word neocons and now she uses RW...she used to use Republican blowhard to describe David Limbaugh, now it's McSame this, McSame that. Oh and Bushbot was another favorite. She has to change words to make it seem like she's paying attention. But, as you can see her BDS, Triple-L Syndrome (la-la-land) has not abated. I am sure she is wearing double strength Rose-colored glasses now, so that shen cannot see Obama is going to fukk her and the rest of his constituents over 1000 fold. And I will say I told you so...

Aside...
from the fact that no one can prove or disprove a hypothetical, and aside that AQI wouldn't have existed if we hadn't invaded, isn't this:

"American and Iraqi forces are driving Al-Qaeda in Iraq out of its last redoubt in the north of the country in the culmination of one of the most spectacular victories of the war on terror.

After being forced from its strongholds in the west and centre of Iraq in the past two years, Al-Qaeda’s dwindling band of fighters has made a defiant “last stand” in the northern city of Mosul. "

just as much of an argument that we can think about turning things over to the Iraqis and planning out our eventual exit strategy?
ScarletPimpernel writes: Monday, July, 07, 2008 1:13 PM
i love quick exit strategies
it worked great for the First Persian Gulf War. We went in, everyone whined at Bush to leave, we left and everything's been frickin' great since then.

It takes time people. Time.
Dread writes: Monday, July, 07, 2008 1:23 PM
Yep...
"Just six more months..."

Repeat as needed until we are there 100 years from now.
ScarletPimpernel writes: Monday, July, 07, 2008 1:41 PM
this is tiresome
google "how long did it take the U.S. to actually get itself ready to be even close to what it is today?" Also try googling "did the colonists beat the British all by themselves?"
Dread writes: Monday, July, 07, 2008 2:05 PM
Yes, it is...
Try googling "bad analogy".

See also "spurious similarity".
ScarletPimpernel writes: Monday, July, 07, 2008 6:47 PM
