Exactly how has Sarandon shown brilliance, Kimberly? I think anyone who has a foot-stomping-I'm-gonna-leave-if-my-candidate-isn't-elected fit is not exactly showing brilliance. She is, in fact, showing quite the opposite.
As far as celebrity envy--if it makes you feel better to think that, by our guest. I have never had any such thing as celebrity envy. I feel that they are entitled to make as much money as the market will allow, they are entitled to live in multimillion dollar homes, and they should be able to spend THEIR own money any way they want.
I draw the line at them telling me how I should spend mine, how I should live, and the like. They are certainly entitled to their opinions, but their opinion is no more or less valuable than mine. Some of them are no more than sheep who make sure they spout the right things in order to get their next movie role.
I have a career that is much more valuable to society than making movies. Entertainment is important, but it is, afterall, entertainment and nothing more. People got along fine before movies came along, and I am pretty sure we would muddle through if they stopped being made.
They hyperbole you spout these days tells me that you are upset...or worried....or both. |

I don't understand why some folks on the far right believe Bob Barr is all that great of a "conservative" alternative to John McCain.
Currently, Barr has been working as a lawyer for the ACLU, he's opposed to the Iraq War, he's now opposed to the Patriot Act, he refuses to build the border fence, and, while he may not support same-sex marriage per se, he DID voice support for the judicial activism by which the California Supreme Court arrived at its decision to overturn the will of the people on the issue. Such a position regarding the role of the judiciary is hardly the perspective of a constructionist.
I was a Romney and Giuliani guy in the primaries. Fighting Islamic Jihad is the number one issue in my book. John McCain will fight the Jihadists. |

but he realized the USA was still the best place on earth and chose to stay. Hey susan, please use your private jet and take a few of you with you.....I hear canada still has some laws that are similar to the USA but in Italy, you will find better refuse with the Mafia. Good luck and please add to your list of people departing because in 5 months President McCain is going to be taking over the whitehouse. Chao bella! |
as always you made some valid points. There is a lot of time left and when that time comes I will decide using all the knowledge I deem pertinent to the situation,no doubt some of your views will be part of the equation, but the decision will be mine and on my time. |
for jolting me out of a perfectly good philosophical and intelligent discussion agree with you Susan Sarandon is one of if not the most brilliant person on you side of the fence.Sort of puts things in perspective, don't you think? |
You're getting close. The problem is that if everyone who is upset does what the parties are counting on, returning to the tribe out of fear of the other tribe, we will have hurt ourselves by being cowards. If whichever winning candidate wins ugly, we will have instilled a lingering fear in the system because they know it's not over and they can't be so sure about the next election either. The GOP only does well when they are in the minority but if the conservatives in Congress have to face a McCain or Obama with a mandate, we are screwed for at least 16 years. If we pull another 1992, we can expect similar results. It wasn't that hard in 1992 and the stakes weren't as great then. Why is it so hard this year? What is the matter with everyone? The only fighters left are Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter. Voting out the GOP when they deserve it is hardly scorched earth and will go far to revitalize the party fast. There is always a sense of urgency when your pants are on fire in a dynamite factory. |

Once again showing that her brains have been following the "smart" people in Hollyweird where smart does NOT equal the amount of money you make. What a pity, hey? |
Again you make a compelling argument. One thing I totally do agree with you about is that we will recover no matter if the liberal McCain or the Marxist Obama is elected. I don't see a whole lot of differences. I still have some concerns about Supreme Court nominees but I don't expect McCain to nominate a Roberts or Alito anyway so it may not matter.
One other concern I have is with a universal government run health care system, which once implemented we would never get ouselves extracted from - like the social security/medicare system which is a sham and bankrupting our generation, a healthcare system would bankrupt the next. Again, maybe McCain would be indistinguishable from Obama.
There are just no good option.
I'm trying to make a decision but those cries behind the door still sound a lot like my mother - I'm trying to ignore it. |
Scorched earth is a very extreme description for voting 3rd party. It would really help you and others if you would put things in perspective. We are going to get a very liberal president in November. It won't be the end of the world regardless of which one it is. The fear-mongering by both parties is way over the top. If elections are such dangerous propositions that our very survival is at stake at every election, maybe democracy is too dangerous and they should cancel these elections. It's like playing russian roulette to hear people shriek. We have a one-party system. Vote against it. There is nothing in this GOP to salvage. The Bobby Jindals and Sarah Palins and other rising stars will survive next November. In fact, if we purge the GOP of the pod people who have body-snatched their way to control the GOP, they will rise to power faster. November is a lost cause. Stop agonizing over it. This GOP would rather fight conservatives than Democrats. We would be going after Democrats ourselves if these RINO Republicans would stop blocking us but since they won't, we have to take care of that problem first. Once out of the way, we can replace them on 2010 by new blood that will fight. Until then, at least we will have the Democrats right where we can declare open season 24/7/365. Just do it and stop playing Hamlet. Make a decision. |
There are untold numbers of us going through the same struggle. I don't believe I could vote for McCain if the election was tomorrow, but I'm STILL holding out some hope I can find a reason to do so, but I'm not holding my breath. He's done nothing so far.
I think those like my friends Pasadena Phil and VA Patriot have a pretty compelling argument by voting for Bob Barr. I really don't care for Barr either, but I understand their argument that it's not a vote for Barr but a vote against the system. I respect that approach but I've always voted for someone rather than against someone so I'm struggling with it.
Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. There are lots of us in the same boat. |
I am nervous as a cat thinking of this election! Big girls don't cry, so that's not an option! Jindal would be a good choice...and I totally agree on the issue of illegals.
Thank you for offering me a coherent answer! I truly am looking for answers. |
All kidding aside I basically am in the same boat. I am constantly vacillating on this decision gave Barr a hard look and he doesn't do it for me,I don't subscribe with the scorched earth theory of the GOP that Pasadena Phil supports but I understand his reasons.I believe we have some dynamic young conservative republicans that need some exposure(Jindal,Santorum,Watts).I know I'm going to take some hits for this, but this is what has to happen for me to vote for McCain:first and foremost expel Juan Hernandez from his staff and agree to enforce existing illegal alien laws,he also has to pick Jindal as his VP, every time I hear him speak It confirms to me that he is the future of the GOP.It's not A perfect scenario but it is one I could live with. |
That should have been despise. I despise so little that I rarely use the word let alone spell it. I apologize. |
I truly cannot decide what to do. I understand the temptation to vote for him if people like that Idiot Sarandon would leave, but I am not sure that is enough.
My biggest problem is...if we don't vote for McCain, then Obama wins. The media believes it will swing all elections for libs and they will completely redouble their efforts to try to ensure that happens (although I cannot even imagine how they will outdo themselves in the future). We will have complete hard-core socialism shoved down our throats (and once a government program is born......just try to kill it).
If we do vote for McCain...we don't get conservatism for at least four years. We get our butts handed to us by lib-lites...The GOP believes it can give us any candidate and we will vote for him or her regardless.....so they can keep on taking us for granted.
The thought of Obama winning makes we want to move......the thought of McCain winning does not make me a lot happier. I am just not sure I am willing to cut my nose off to spite my face! Help! |
so quickly, but an opportunity like this doesn't present itself too often. This is a chance to permanently expel a powerful democrat from our country.Don't you remember how important her role was in 2004 and 2000 elections she helped the dems carry the whole state of Hollywood both times! If we have the chance to eliminate one of the most intelligent and powerful demo icons from the country I say no sacrifice is too great. |
Yeah, that's what I'll do too. Sell my soul to McFaust just to rid our country of 1 actress. Add Depp, Paltrow, Baldwin, Penn, et al and maybe just maybe I'll make a deal |
As BrianR would say: Where's the Spew Alert!?!? That was awesome! |
I guess the RINOs have found your button. You guys are too easy. |
Every last one of the lodest mouths of Hoolywood could leave and I still won't hold my nose for McCain. |
Don't let the f-ing door hit you on the way out, 'kay? Cause the summer of Love is over and we don't give a rat's asss about you and your harumphs! Buh-bye, now! |
She's supposed to be gone already!
Still, this is the single strongest case for the Conservative base to get behind McCain we've had all year!
Let's vote McCain, and maybe, just maybe...GET HER OUTTA HERE!
The stakes are high, people. |
I didn't think anything could make me hold my nose and vote for McCain, but Susan s.has forced me to vote for him. BTW Goat when you are in Vancouver try not to get sick. It's a long wait for medical treatment there.Just looking out for you .Hope and change. |
...CAN'T keep their mouths closed!
Bye Susan- and take Sharon and all the other libs with ya. |
You "patriots" out there: which country do y'all love? If it's America, why do you want it to become like Eurabia?
MPG - when you leave the IQ quotient will rise in both countries;) |
I'm so glad we bought a little piece of land on Vancouver Island about 20 years ago.
One more Republican President and we might just pitch more than a tent there! |
"Mama, I have da biggest feet in da third grade. Is dat becoss I'm Norvegian?" "No, it's because you're NINETEEN."
Roy, hundreds of years of peace and appeasement and what has Norway produced? chocolate and trolls.
Thanks, git. |

Can't say as I'd blame her. You have to wonder at the planet's only superpower choosing the leader of the Free World as if they'd just eaten 2 or 3 Burger King Whoppers with extra grease, plus supersized fries and drank 2 12-packs of Bud. Then after belching, voting McCain = Metaphorical gas and indigestion and beer befuddlement for the whole world to see! |
Soros promised to leave and he lied. He is still sitting his his apartment on 5th avenue and spending his summers in Southampton. I just wish these left wing idiots and savants would actually leave as they promised! |
wold be a very exclusive place to live in! Remind me to never to book a vacation there it sounds to snobbish to me. |
to Alec Baldwin... oh wait, he was all talk too. |
Who is this washed up Hollywood liberal. When she goes maybe she will take the rest of the LEFT Coast with her. Maybe she, Rosie, Ellen could get together and help Italy become the country they want America to become. Better start praying for Italy. |
And she threatens to leave the country. This is about Susan, not politics. Anyway, I thought Hollywood was moving to Vancouver? What happened to that? You can't kick these people out and even when they say they are leaving they don't go away. |
Just maybe... if we can get 3 or 4 more big mouth, no talent, uneducated lib actors to take up Susans policy ... just maybe I can pull that level for McCain. But even then it won't be easy. |
I'm tired of living in a country run by anti-intellectuals who think the world is 6,000 years old, who think global warming is a hoax, who don't understand that the war on terror is really all about our right wing fundamentalist fanatics fighting their right wing fundamentalist fanatics and who seem to be comfortable living under the corruption and rule of multi-national corporations.
But I won't leave because I'm a true patriot who was born here and who puts his country before his party and I'm up for a good fight because truth and justice are so obviously on my side. No I'm here to stay and to oust the American Taliban from power and to return this country to the great peoples democracy that it is.
So BRING IT ON!!!! |
I thought she and her Hollywood-chic group up and left for Canada in 2004 after Kerry lost. Why is she still here? |
What would we ever do without you? I'm assuming if you left that Tim would go with you? Please, oh please, don't go! Your friend Sean Penn may also leave if you went. What will we ever do? This could be a devasting mass exodus if you take that first move.
The Lakers would be playing in front of an empty arena. |
I love it: "I'll punish myself and others by moving to Paris or Rome!"
We cons have been begging you Dem/libs for 20 years to move to a ready made socialist country. There are plenty from which to choose! Please! Go! |
I'm still waiting for Alex Baldwin to leave, he said he would if Gore lost. He's still here, unfortunately. |
