Kudlow on Phil Gramm ...

Larry Kudlow has some insight into Phil Gramm's resignation from the McCain campaign. 

Apparently, the Novak column which said McCain and Gramm had patched things up was accurate.  However, it threw several McCain staffers and advisers into a tizzy, with the ultimate consequence being Gramm's resignation. 

As Kudlow notes, Gramm's influence is sorely missed on the trail.  His absence seems to have removed the fiscal conservative moorings from the campaign, and as a result, McCain has apparently lapsed back into a more populist message. 

Kudlow goes on to say that if Gramm is truly out of the campaign, McCain ought to at least promote supply-siders like Jack Kemp or Steve Forbes ...

Yeeesh.
Good grief. So removing one advisor is all it takes to make McCain go all wobbly on policy? So it hasn't been "straight talk" that we've been hearing all this time?

The truth
Whether or not the statements made about the economic crisis as "mental" or not, one thing that Mr. Gramm says is true...Americans are whiners. My grandfather, if he were still alive, would laugh at the whining and crying we do about everything from the economy, entitlement, how much people make, how saying things can offend so we should not say them, etc. Amazing.

is a dolt if he thinks McCain's advisers influence him in anything other than strategy. McCain is no fiscal anything. He's a continuation of Bush.

McCain's lucky to have Gramm
gone. The American people are seriously not in the mood to have another rich white guy tell them that their economic problems are all "mental". And really, the last thing this country needs is another "supply sider" demanding more tax cuts for the wealthy.
