All the Obama Press Conferences

Barack Obama has been holding an unprecedented number of press conferences.
His reasoning is obvious -- it's an effort to show that he's firmly in control, that his Cabinet selections are on track, and to reassue a nation anxious about the economy (and now, perhaps, terrorist threats). Incidentally, it's also a nice opportunity for the media to worship its idol.
But there is a potential downside to all the visibility. Even people who voted for Obama don't want to see and hear from him all the time. They just want him to do his job. And just as it's easy for the president of a volunteer organization to become enamored of holding meeting after meeting where she will lead the discussion, it's easy for those in political leadership to begin to believe that normal people share their interest in the minutiae of governance.
It's likely to become a particular trap for someone like Obama, who's regularly treated by those around him (in the press and elsewhere) as though every word he utters has been carved in stone and brought down from Mt. Sinai. It's worth remembering: Most people aren't that interested in how the country's problems are solved. They just want them solved, and as quickly as possible.

What happened to the promise not to criticize everything Obama does until he is actually inaugurated. I guess you too could not take it anymore, huh? The man needs to prove something because he lacks any necessary experience to give us confidence he can keep us safe and lead an economic recovery team made up of academics or like Marsden so eloquently put it - the university of starbucks team. Let's all be thankful al qaeda has a ramadhan break coming before christmas. We are in deep trouble and our commander in change has speeches and conferences. Nobody is getting fooled. Obama is being warned by al qaeda, russian war ships are next door and russia is officially announcing they will be selling weapons to chavez. Oh my goodness, we really picked the right guy for the 3am call. |

I was at the Monastery of St Catherine for three days and nothing Obama says comes from there. He only repeats what is obvious and is clever enough to make what he utters appear to be profound. |

Obama has shown over and over again that one of his and his liberal illuminati's strength's is the appearance. He's allowing himself to appear smooth, in control and making people believe he knows what he is doing. He's preserving his halo. |

One of the many things I am thankful for today is that the typical opinions expressed by TH columnists and the bloggers who agree with them have more clearly become the fringe of political thought in America, outside the mainstream, with little hope of change for years to come. |

it's looking more and more as if President-Elect Obama is going to continue the policies of George W. Bush, since he's now finding that BEING President is nothing like RUNNING for President! Oh, how sad for all those who actually believed his promises. |

If the current "mess" belongs to any one group, it is the congress -- not the president. And, that would be true regardless of the party.
Things were pretty good until two years ago. Guess what happened then? The democrats took over!

The Dems are clearly the more culpable party in this financial mess.
CRA 1977, promoting of the "politically correct" sub-prime mortgages, and lying to the public about the status of Fannie / Freddie, were actions belonging to the Dems.
Since Comrade Obama worked for ACORN (this group strong-armed banks for these stinky loans), and since he accepted a ton of money from Fannie Mae, he DESERVES to be the "ONE" to clean up this fiasco.
It's belonged to him and his party for a while, and on Jan 20th they officially OWN it.

With the drivel about the CRA.
One more time. Nearly three quarters of subprime loans were originated in the secondary market which has no CRA mandates, and the remaining one quarter of loans from the primary market have a lower foreclosure rate than those in the secondary.
Further, if the CRA is the crux of the problem, why is it that commercial banks, which have the strongest CRA mandates, are not failing while all but one investment banks have vanished from Wall Street?
AIG is so far the biggest recipient of government largesse, what CRA mandates are there on insurance companies, or for that matter the government of Iceland.

Barack Obama is at this point in time is in a jackpot. Yes he has had many "press conferences" introducing Bill Clinton's staff. More of the same, but now we have a new challenge for the new PEOTUS. "Whatta ya do now Barack?" Terrorists in Mumbia India have called out Barack Obama. They have challenged him by targetting Americans, and Brits (our very close allies) at the Taj Hotel. Americans may die there, and depending on what Pres. Elect Barack Obama says or does in the next few days, terrorists may have a field day with Americans all over the world. So I ask you one more time, "Whatta ya do now Barack?", it's time for one more press conference PDQ. |

Am sensing money can stop the al qaeda threats on the subway system. But then again, money got barak elected and we know how much the Al qaeda fear and revere him - they won't dare do anything to americans around the world. LOL! The market is going to crash faster than Nov. 5th 2008 after Al qaeda succeeds in hitting our transportion systems. Barak needs more than speeches but that is all the game he's got. Or to put it in Axel's language - he will need to use his communication skills to reassure americans. Glad its working for the market because Russians, Chavez, China, Iran and Al Qaeda don't seem to buying the press conference message - they are not only refusing to back down, they are challenging Barak to not partner with Poland in building a missle shield or they will begin their aggression toward Poland. Comrades - checkmate, Barak is playing with people who don't respect community organizers who preach hope and change! |

For all his words, it only shows that "The One" is really "The Clueless One" and he doesn't really have a clue. He vacated his leftist beliefs for the safety of the center he criticized.
