NRSC Chairman Predicts 5-6 Point Chambliss Win
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 4:12 PM
Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Ensign (Nev.) said he believed incumbent Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss would defeat Democrat Jim Martin by five or six points in today's run-off election.

"The Barack Obama magic on Election Day has not carried over to the run-off," Ensign said.

Polls are scheduled to close at 7pm EST. Polling stations across the Peach State reported low voter turnout Tuesday, which would likely hurt Martin who was bolstered by the high-voter turnout inspired by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama last month.

If Chambliss wins, he will shatter the Democrats hopes of attaining a 60-seat supermajority. A run-off was triggered after the November 4 election because neither candidate secured the majority of the votes, Chambliss won 49.8 percent to Martin's 46.8 percent. Libertarian candidate Allen Buckely took 3.8 percent of votes.

A WSB-TV poll conducted over the weekend gave Chambliss a 4-point edge of 50 percent to 46 percent over Martin.

Ensign attributed an anticipated GOP win to a "far superior" ground game and Sarah Palin's appearances around the state on Monday.

"In a run-off election it's about turning your voters out," Ensign told reporters in a late afternoon conference call. "She was able to get a lot of people excited to make sure they would focus on that race...because of her celebrity she was able to bring press attention and remind people to get out and support Saxby."

Palin stumped with Chambliss at four events on Monday. More than 3,000 attended each of the events, according to press reports.

The Democrats sent their heavy-hitters to Georgia on behalf of their candidate as well. Former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore both campaigned with Martin and President-elect Obama recorded automated phone calls to encourage people to vote for the Democratic candidate.

now all we have to do
is figure out which party is which and keep them from voting unanimously to sell out our country.

Who Cares If Chambliss Wins?
When the Republican candidate votes against the rule of law and for amnesty for illegal aliens, is he still worth voting for?

No.

Sarah Palin
When will the republicans and conservatives realize that she says what she means and she means what she says. And if they would all just do the right thing and tell the truth they could all get elected no matter if she showed up or not. I'm tried of the save my *** is all that matters attitude that all these politicians have.

Truths
The communists will still have a veto proof Duma here in America because they'll always find some misguided, dim witted GOP guy to join with them to screw us.

But isn't it interesting that the communists had Bill Clinton and Ludakris(sp?) and the GOP had Palin. We see who carried the day and we see why the communist hoe moes are so virulently against her. All liberal men are gay and hate women, especially strong women with guns. It terrifies hoe moe communists, gives them nightmares, and makes their T cell counts go haywire.

Can't wait until she runs again.

Sarah Steps to Plate While Obama is AWOL
It was a very low turnout down here in Georgia. If Obama had of shown up for Martin it could have won it for the Democrat. Thank goodness Obama was as we expected, interested only in promoting himself, and stayed away. With Sarah Palin down here stumping for the Repbublican Chambliss, he easily won. In two years the GOP will have a landslide win in the house. Folks are already wising up to how poor the whole nation will soon be if the Democrats consolidate their power.

Does anybody really think...
...that Harry Reid & Co won't be spending the next few months trying to flip RINOs? Or that Al Franken will go quietly to defeat? Or that, without the filibuster-proof majority, Reid & gang won't try to procedurally (or via the courts) do away with the filibuster altogether? These guys are slime.

An almost-Landslide
With 96% of the precincts reporting, Chambliss has 58% and Martin has 42%. It's not an official blowout unless there's a full 20 percentage point difference, so although SAXBY won, he didn't quite get the icing on the cake; Martin got the azzz-kicking that he and uppity Georgia Democrats so richly deserved.

No surprise
The only reason democrats won the presidency is because the African Americans came out to vote for Obama. It was the first and last time they'll vote. The house will go Republican in '10 and that's that. Once the people that voted for Obama see he's just another politician, it's over for them. And he is, just another politician.
