The Second Comeback Of Hillary Clinton
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 7:55 AM
A Clinton supporter rides past an impromptu rally at University of Pennsylvania

Could be a big day for the "Feiler faster theory" made popular by Mickey Kaus:  "The increasing pace of society is matched by (and perhaps driven by) journalists' ability to report events and the public's desire for more information."

The flow of information on Obama in the past two weeks, most of it very negative, has been enormous. Obama generated the most important invitation to reconsider his candidacy with his evaluation of the origins of bitterness among small town and rural voters.  The media introduced more biography via the Ayers-Dohrn connection (not yet fully detailed, but well-enough known to be part of the analysis), and the senator's lackluster debate and churlish finger gesture were a couple more data points.

Hillary's been using her commercials to push forward key messages about the job of the president and the times in which we live.  She has been reminding everyone that the president protects the country first. (Powerline has the video. and Instapundit notes the predictions of her inherent plausibility as a C-in-C.)  Senator McCain travels and his remarks have all been about serious subjects as well, and the feckless Jimmy Carter's dance with Hamas has also been part of the inputs, reminding us the week of the vote of the disasters that follow the elevation of incompetent hope into the Oval Office.

Then there's the pope.  You couldn't miss him these pass few days, and you wouldn't want to miss him if you were a Christian and especially if you were a Catholic.  Encouraging and engaging, the pope at 81 was about doing his job in difficult circumstances.  If there is a cure for the gloom in some parts of the country (John Ellis points to the best study of its origins), it is in the renewal of those institutions in communities --especially churches-- that encourage happiness via service rather than consumption.  Benedict is so far above partisan politics that it is unusual to think of him having an impact on America's political scrum, other than by introducing an sense of seriousness of purpose to the country in the week before an election, and by speaking clearly about the country's role in the world.  He did both, and thus impacted the background for the PA vote.

If Hillary wins convincingly, Democratic superdelegates will have to think about the long months of summer ahead.  The truth is that Senator Obama would be the most left-wing main party presidential nominee in history.  He is far outside the mainstream, and large crowds in stadiums don't translate into huge vote margins in general elections.  The young love him, yes, but the old are really going to trust John McCain to protect them.  The superdelegates are going to be upset that Operation Chaos revived Hillary, and if she comebacks, she'll always be Rush's nominee, but he just played the role of Burgess Meredith/Mickey Goldmill in Rocky.  (Bill will be Paulie --a fine analogy.)  Hillary will have shown the toughness to do what it took to win.

Even with a six point win, Hillary will stay in and should.  Obama's not doing well under the pressure.  Hillary wouldn't know what life was without pressure.  He's got to worry about a thousand new stories about him.  We know everything there is to know about Hillary.

This is the first election of the year where there has really been the time to consider a single stark choice between two very different candidates who would govern very differently and lead in very different ways, and it is occurring in a state very representative of the country as a whole.  It has been a long and strange trip to tonight, but if Feiler is right --and I think he is--  everyone knows what they need to know to make a responsible choice.

And Hillary can have no complaints or second thoughts about how the PA race has ended.

What are you talking about ?
Brob,
What are you talking about gift certificates ? Can they eat those ? How about just a baloney and american cheese on white bread. Or a cup of coffee.
We know Obama thinks people are too stupid to feed themselves.
Why are they asking for donations of food ? What is this the food pantry. Coupons ? Now your saying they have to use discount coupons.
Control, control, control. This is a perfect example of how liberals think. People can't manage their own lives. More government programs so they can control the masses.
This simple example tells more about Obama than any of the 20 debates so far. What elitist arrogance.

Gereghty the Indispensable
On the Verge of a Stunner in Pennsylvania?

Hold on to your hats. I've gotten the usual word of the exit poll results from one of my usual reliable sources. He notes that Obama traditionally over-performs in the earliest exit polls, and that he expects the numbers to change as the night wears on - perhaps a reversal.

But right now, the exits are saying Obama 52 percent, Clinton 47 percent.

Take these results with the usual grains of salt and skepticism. I'm told that Obama is carrying blue collar workers two to one, and he's winning Philadelphia in the neighborhood of three to one.

As usual, if you're a Pennsylvanian and haven't voted yet, don't let these or any other numbers discourage you.

4 point spread favoring Hillary. But it is early. I suspect she will win and I predict by 7.

You need to start supporting McCain. Of course I doubt they have a lot of money (like miserly Obama), but I bet they can spring for pizza and doughnuts.

Unbelievably cheap Obama
I have worked many elections. You put in sometimes 16 hour days. This would include poll watchers, judges, precinct captains and all the many people running back and forth to bring people to the polls.
It has always been an unwritten rule the candidates provide donuts and lunch.
So money is given to the precinct captains to pay for the food and drinks.
The Clinton campaign have no problem feeding their foot soldiers.
Obama's campaign, the one that continues to brag about how much money they have has decided they are not providing any food. Obama is the one that made this decision.
This to me is the height of arrogance. You refuse to provide a sandwich for someone working 16 hours for you.

Hollywood could not write this script!!!
That party which squealed, screamed, catterwauled, bloviated endlessly (many still do) about Boooooooooosh, the man they claim, "stole the election" in 2000.

)'( The Democrat Party which travelled down to Texas over a month ago for their primary, still have NOT completed the tabulating or counting process of that states' outcome of the Texas Primary.
They should be wrapping it up any year now.

)'( The Super Delegate fiasco continues to confuse not only most of America, but even the Democrats themselves.

It's not as if these Democrat narcissists have demanded and captured enough of the attention of America with their nonsensical "electioneering".

(Michigan and Florida, step to the rear of the bus)

Hillary is promising to come back from insurmountable odds. No challenge too great for this chick. She's even willing to "OBLITERATE" Iran.
Holy Mackeral, Batman, not even Bush used that word. Neither has Bush "OBLITERATED" Afghanistan nor Iran.
Hollywood could not orchestrate this symphony of sycophants.
Writer's Union, take heed. This script is a work-in-process the likes of which, "you would kill for".
Choreographers!!! Eat your hearts out. You have not the skills to design this dance-routine.

It has been rumored that some in L.A. are considering a renaming of Hollywood to Hillywood, or, Hillarywood, for the vast amount of creative energies pulsing through her.

Please, God, put us out of our collective pain.

When a liberal Dems uses the.......
When a liberal Dem uses the term , 'God bless America, I am for a strong national security policy and will destroy Iran if it...., you can depend on me to protect our borders,' you can be sure it is a bald faced lie. It is a prop for election. Not since JFK, LBJ or Truman's years can one point to a Dem leader, Presidential candidate who has used the terms I quoted above. Nah, it is America is barbarian, worst than Hitler, is racist, homophobic, against immigrants, and tortures innocents! All lies but the MSM helps the DNCers get away with it.

Everything we need to know about HIllary
Whitewater, Travel-Gate, Commodity futures, Filegate, Bimbo eruption squad, Bosnia, Peacemaker in Ireland. Yeah, we know everything we need to know about Hillary - She is a vindictive, lying woman with no conscious or moral compass whatsoever. Her one thirst is for power and whatever it takes to get it is okay in her book.

BIG UNMENTIONABLE STORY...
If there's a big new Obama story, why not describe it, Greg? Anyone who's been around the block knows that at least 99 times out of 100 such rumors never amount to anything: They're usually as empty as King Tut's tomb, and as underwhelming as Comet Kohoutek. If there's a reason that no one can give any persuasive details, it's that no one has any persuasive details.

None of the Obama scandals and kerfuffles is anything new. People who'd been following him and his career have known about Ayers, Wright, and Rezko for years, and the emptiness, arrogance, elitism, and ideological leftist reflexes on display in the San Francisco comments were also there all along. It's unlikely that the Communist mentor story is going to stick - too long ago. If someone claims he really did deal some drugs as well as use them, tell someone once he was Muslim, had more direct connections to his unsavory relatives in Africa, I'm not sure any of that would make much of a difference either. Other even more dramatic claims - like the supposed crack + gay sex incident - would need indisputable proof before anyone serious was willing even to discuss them.

So what is it? Or are you just blowing smoke?

So what is it?
Joe writes: Tuesday, April, 22, 2008 12:32 PM

completely in McCains camp, the defeat of Hussein Soetoro is her aim, the worst of the worst would be a victory for him, look for her to stay in the race for the bloody duration, on to Denver and the miscreant convention, a Soetoro/Hillary ticket is nothing more than a fanciful delusion, it ain't gonna' happen........Hillary/12'.....
Joe writes: Tuesday, April, 22, 2008 11:22 AM
Once Obama clinches this (and he will)
he will get a bump in the polls. Obama is a formidable candidate. But McCain is formidable too and we are a long way from November.

As for Hillary, I guess the big question is whether Obama offers he a VP slot and whether she takes it. Personally, the smart move for Barak would be picking Sam Nunn in the VP slot. Yeah, I know he said he would only run for the big office--but he did just endorse Obama.

But is Barry smart enought to do that?
VoiceOfReason writes: Tuesday, April, 22, 2008 11:10 AM
I feel better about Obama already
Given Hugh's prognostications during the election cycle, this has to be just the analysis the Hillary camp was dreading.

News to Hugh: even with Obama's "awful" month, he leads Clinton in double digits in the national polls, he has $50,000,000 in the bank to her $0, has an insurmountable delegate and popular vote lead and the super delegates are committing to him at a disproprotionate ratio to Hilary. Bottom line: she has no chance to win. Yet you would try to dupe your readers into thinking otherwise. Why? Because as long as Hilary is in the race, McCain gets a wingman and it is 2 on 1 against Obama. At least be honest instead of such a naked and transparent partisan.
GREG writes: Tuesday, April, 22, 2008 11:10 AM
1,000 new stories
When Hugh Hewitt talks about 1,000 new stories about Obama, he has at least one big one in mind, to which he alluded but would not discuss in yesterday's radio program. Others know it, too. It out there and it is coming at him like a ghost from the past.
PokerGuy writes: Tuesday, April, 22, 2008 11:06 AM
Couple of Things
1. Obama and his campaign will adapt.

2. Ardent lefty devotees, who tend to dominate pre-general-election activities (press especially included) will not be swayed by information.

If one accepts those two assertions, what can be said about the next few months and the eventual Dem nominee? It isn't about how the Right sees the situation, or the effect of "revelations" about Obama. It's about how the left reacts; and that is: not much. Only a few undecideds are being swayed, and any light breeze will accomplish that.

Mike & Joe...One Of The Things That
would be nice to Hammer Hillary with in a November race would be the outright lies and fatuosity of her attempting to present herself as some tough, pro-strength, hawkish warrior type! After trainloads of audio-video records of recent years, toadying to the Left of her party. After doing the right thing in '02 & '03, she ran like a coward from her own record, rewrote history, claimeed Bush fooled her or she would'da voted against the war, etc..Just lay it out there day after day. Just, for instance, her unforgivable performance at September's hearings with General Petraeus.

Oh, just too yummy to contemplate. Slick, hypocritical Demotrash. AND, it is ALL on Video-Audio Record for our 527s to sledgehammer her with. Luv it!

This is irrelevant but interesting. If the rules were the same as the Republicans. After today Hillary would be up 448 delegates.

I made a slight addition error before.

Hillary's ad....
.... includes shots showing Roosevelt responding to Pearl Harbor and Kennedy responding to the Soviet's pressure on Berlin.

Are we expected to believe that EITHER of the current Democratic candidate's first response to an attack on America or one of her allies would be to use, or threaten to use, military force against the aggressor?

I don't buy it for a second. They are now both too firmly in bed with the anti-war crowd.

One view of the 2008 election for POTUS,

On the WOT, "BOAF" Obama will pursue the WOT aggressively, but Hilary understands the importance and seriousness of the WOT better than "BOAF" and will conduct it more agressively than "BOAF". However, Hilary does not understand the WOT's importance and seriousness as well as McCain and will not conduct it as agressively as McCain.

On the battle for Iraq, "BOAF" Obama understands U.S. interests in Iraq and its relationship to the WOT less well than Hilary and is more likely to do damage to the U.S. interests in Iraq than is Hilary. However, Hilary understands U.S. interests in Iraq and its relationship to the WOT less well than does McCaina and is more likely to do damage to U.S. interests in Iraq than is McCain.

On taxes, "BOAF" Obama will raise taxes more than Hilary and Hilary will raise taxes more than McCain.

On government regulation, "BOAF" Obama will increase government regulation of the economy and Americans' private lives more than Hilary and Hilary will increase government regulation of the econcomy and Americans' private lives more than McCain.

On growth of government, "BOAF" Obama will grow government faster than Hilary and Hilary will grow governmment faster than McCain.

On abortion, "BOAF" Obama supports legalized abortion more radically and viorously than Hilary and Hilary supports legalized abortion more radically and vigorously than McCain.

On homosexual rights, this is probably a toss-up between "BOAF Obama and Hilary as to who would advance the radical homosexual agenda more and McCain will advance the radical homosexual agenda less than either "BOAF" or Hilary.

On Second Amendment rights, "BOAF" Obama and Hilary have weaker records than McCain on Second Amendment rights.
