Welcome to the Big Leagues
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 1:51 PM
Everybody says that it's not the campaigning -- it's the governing -- that's the hard part, and now our President-elect is learning that fact even before he takes over.

Apparently, his "folks" are outraged that Hillary Clinton's peeps are leaking and stoking State speculation.  Hey, be grateful that they're doing it now, thereby providing you with a glimpse of what it will be like if you actually install her in the building.

My sense is that Obama believes it's better to remove his potential 2012 rival from the Senate and put her in his Cabinet.  Well, in exchange for that, he shouldn't be fooled into thinking that she'll sit back quietly and take his direction.  With Hillary as Secretary of State, Obama will have to choose either essentially to outsource his whole foreign policy to his one-time rival (and if so, what was the justification for not simply letting her win the primary election?) or this is just a small taste of the banquet of leaks the Clintons have in store for him.

And of course, don't even think about the PR hit that will result from his now "withdrawing" the job that the Clintonistas have led the country to believe is Hillary's for the asking.

Oh those lil dickens...
the Clintons....just a coupla fuzzy teddy bears!

If Obama puts her in his cabinet he needs to have his head checked for extra holes.

Wonder if...
... they'll leak top secret presidential initiatives like Bush's cabinet? I guess we'll never know: if they do, I bet the NYT and MSNBC will not report on them to ensure this president is "successful".

1. what's with all the white people?
I thought Obama was going to do something for Black America? Ludicrisp and Farakhan must be pissssed. hahaha

b. - what's with the retreads for the love of God? The Bill and Hillary dramedy went off the air years ago.

Also, I think Colin Powell did great for W, don't y'all? No way Hillary would stab Barack in the back;)

Assumptions about Obama and Clinton
We are told it's wise for Obama to pick Clinton for State and thus remove potential 2012 rivals.

Perhaps.

But imagine this equally plausible scenario. Image Hillary wants to be Secretary of State so that in 2011 she can resign the post (what kind of media orgy would this set off?). Why would she resign? Because Obama is hopelessly naive and pathetically weak, she'll tell us. She tried to help him, but he was too arrogant to listen. She must now resign in order to run for president to save the Democratic Party from Jimmy Obama. Farfetched? Maybe not.

Under this scenario, she gets the foreign policy cred, gets privy to all the bodies buried in an Obama administration, and then gets to fatally weaken Obama by her high-profile resignation. Don't tell me the Clintons are on board to have their grand legacy eclipsed by some dude from Chicago.
