Straight Blog Express
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 10:38 AM

This morning, Sen. John McCain continued his outreach to the conservative blogosphere, by holding a conference call with bloggers.

Bloggers who asked questions, included: Erik Erickson of RedState, Rob Bluey of Heritage, Philip Klein and Jim Antle from The American Spectator, Kim Priestap of Wizbang, Ryan Sager of The New York Sun, Chris Stewart of Green Mountain Politics, James Joyner of Outside the Beltway, and Skip Murphy and Doug Lambert of GraniteGrok.

K-Lo and Soren Dayton also wrote about the call -- and David All "live blogged" it.

McCain spoke at length about the Democrats surrender strategy in Iraq. Among other interesting comments, he said:

- “Tom Coburn is the best thing that’s happened in the United States Senate in years."

- He does not think any restrictions should be placed on the blogosphere or the internet.

- He is happy with his campaign, but noted: “I’m unhappy with my performance with fundraising – which is my fault – because I hate to ask people for money.”

Rebutt to Michael Ware
If McCain is straight talk as he claims - he should flat out name those neighborhoods where he can go out for a stroll - this is a McCain vs. media challenge - this would go a long way in anserwing if the media and reporters like Ware are truly biased.

Else McCain loses credibility..already he is claiming the media is misinterpreting what he said..

John McCain muffles my "Straight Talk"

*************
"He is happy with his campaign, but noted: 'I’m unhappy with my performance with fundraising – which is my fault – because I hate to ask people for money.'”
*************

If McCain truly "hates to ask people for money," why did he co-author a bill which demands that he....ask MORE people for money ?

That would be equivalent to me saying, 'I hate sky-diving !,' but then turning around to my little girlfriend and saying, "Hey, babe, let's go sky-diving this weekend...and the weekend after that...and the weekend after that..."

I'd love to make it easier on candidates by giving them a lot more money, but the brainstorming sesssions of John McCain & Russ Feingold determined that I would be a lawbreaker if I did.
It's a 'Bizarro' world---there's no legal limit on how much money a person can put into a slot machine, or throw away on something like 'Dungeons & Dragons,' and illegal aliens crossing our border aren't treated as 'illegal,' BUT giving more money to a political candidate than many folks have spent on the purchase of their High Definition Plasma Screen TV will elicit the Border Control to show up at your front door to deport you.

McCain is so generous
"- He does not think any restrictions should be placed on the blogosphere or the internet."

At least until they begin to seriously inconvenience him to the advantage of a rival; then we'll hear what song he sings.
