A Teflon President-Elect?

From Rev. Wright, to "bitter-clingers," to "spreading the wealth," to giving McCain the middle finger, to Black Panters with batons on Election Day (just to name a few) -- there were plenty of things that popped-up which might have hurt Obama. ... None of them did.
If anything should have doomed him, it was Biden's comments that he will be "tested." In my estimation, that was the worst political gaffe I've ever seen in my life. ... It didn't matter.
Barack Obama was the teflon candidate. Will he be a teflon president?

if the media has their way. But if he is as disastrous economically as I suspect he will be, that may be the one thing that sticks, media or no. |
|
He still has his protectors in the MSM. They'll cover for anything and everything he does wrong.
But I have bad news for Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. They only have two years for Congress and four for the presidency. We're going to see another national uprising against this Congress, just as we saw in 1994, and against Obama, as we saw against Jimmy Carter in 1980. You're going to get your clocks cleaned after everyone realizes what they just voted for and recoils in horror.
And I'd like to see them try to silence talk radio with the un-fairness doctrine. That will be an epic battle for free speech, and they will lose. Badly. |

... that the press - by their very nature - needs/feeds on conflict, scandals, and ineptness.
I feel Pres. Elect Obama will get a long honeymoon; the press will eventually have to feed.
Finally, I truly believe that the press is in the center of this 'hate' and divisiveness. Sure we have lefty-trolls (Dailykos/Hoffpoff et al) and right-wing haters. I believe it's the press that feeds and flourishes off these two groups and perpetuates the hate.

Some of the things I have been reading around the internet tonight are quite interesting. The press is already trying to provide cover for Obama. Read some of the things they are putting out!
They are trying to lower expectations to the ground!
We are in for an interesting time. I know America is a more center-right than what was indicated tonight. Once Americans wake up from the Obama stupor, they will make the corrections necessary.
I just can't wait until the Blue Dogs and the Left-wingers get Obama between them! That is when the real fun will begin. He is about to run into people who have their very own agendas, and they won't match his very often.
I just feel sorry for all of those first-time, idealistic voters who are going to turn into cynics rather quickly. I was just like them at one time in my life.
When I was in eighth grade, I thought Carter was the greatest person to ever run for national office (young and foolish...). I was overjoyed when he was elected. Of course, I did not really have to live with the havoc he wrought....so I voted for him when I was 18, and I cried bitter tears when Reagan was elected. Suffice to say, when I started paying real taxes, and when I saw the real damage caused by liberal social policies, I became a conservative.
This is not the end of conservatism as some people are bellowing. No, that is just wishful thinking on the part of some. I will continue to fight the good fight at the grass roots level as will other good conservatives. One thing is for sure, we won't go away!!! |

McCain saying the economy was fundamentally sound right before it went down the pooper...
It cost him the presidency...
I think I could have gotten elected as President running against him after that BONER... |
|
It's the blinders on his supporters.
As a young man, Arthur Koestler was a communist. He described the process of self imposed blindness very well. While visiting the USSR he saw many terrible things which he always interpreted as the "legacy of capitalism". Good things were always the "promise of communism".
Being essentially an honest man this began to weigh heavily on him until finally he smashed his blinders and saw the evil that he had supported. It almost killed him to question and ultimately throw away his most cherished beliefs, but his dedication to truth was stronger than his dedication to the Communist Party.
The press will see every Obama failure as caused by racists and Republicans. Anything that looks good will be attributed to the wise and merciful Messiah. The press will serve as the glue that holds the blinders of the Obamistas in place.
All that anyone can do is point out every failure and show its cause, and then do it again and again and again. Never stop, never compromise.

You are so naive.
Rises above the slime and the dirt? Sweety, Premier Obama IS the slime and the dirt. He's a communist, that makes him immoral.
And the media glosses over all that. That's why he'll be a Teflon Premier. Under his leadership, you'll notice that the homeless will disappear, that the children will sing songs praising the Premier, and there will be talk about how leaders around the world love the Premier. Of course, it'll all be a lie, but that's never stopped the media before. |

I am afraid we as conservatives have a huge challenge.
Many of our schools and universities are decidedly liberal. Thanks to the Vietnam war, many peace activists and draft dodgers flooded the universities and liberalized our Churches. From there, liberals took control of the media and now our government.
I see two more fronts in this cultural war: the judges and the opposition. I believe Obama will try hard to liberalize more of the judges. And then squelch the "free speech" of the opposition and rewrite the Constitution.
The media will protect Obama and Obama will protect his media.
Sorry for painting such a bleak picture. We lost in more ways than one.
The path to winning back the nation and the hearts of the people must start at our knees in prayer. |
|
The greatness of America is in her people, and not in her government. The government is what it is...
The American people will only tolerate so much. The press can keep bellowing that apples are oranges, but it won't take Americans all that long to realize those oranges taste a lot like apples!
We are a center-right country, and Obama is not going to change that. In fact, he may just drive many right back over the line they crossed on election night.
As for Obama rising above the slime and dirt, I just have to laugh. Oh to be young and unaware of reality....... |

The economy improves and there are no international crises, he'll keep the teflon. If our economic troubles continue, if he pulls out of Iraq prematurely and we watch that nation consumed by evil men, if Iran goes nuclear, if we see mushroom clouds over Israeli cities, the teflon will fade. |
|
OBAMA IS NOT THE TEFLON PRESIDENT. The main stream media did not allow the truth to get out about Obama. His past voting record, his radical stand on the Military to Abortion. I give it 6 months before the true Obama comes out and then the American people begin to scratch their heads and say what happened. I want to know what happened to all the states that were being investigated over Acorn. Wow how quickly thing are forgotten. So the media got what they wanted and some of the American people got what they wanted. I just wonder if they know what they really got.
I do not think so but they will find out and then I want to see the supporters who thought he was going to make the nation a utopia. |

Let there be no doubt Obama is going to destroy the country. You who voted for him have been warned. Last night I talked with a couple of small business owners. They are making plans to close shop. They like I understand it is best to hide your money, do not create wealth, do not hire, and get ready for a Carter second term. Get ready for 25% unemployment, 25% interest rates, 40-50% flat tax, and no freedom. |
|
Teflon? Hardly. This term was aptly applied to President Reagan who was consistantly and harshly criticized by a press who despised him. Still the power of his ideas and principles was greater.
Obama on the other hand, at the least, has not been seriously criticized, and more accurately has been shielded from criticism and investigation. If Regan was a teflon pan to which nothing would stick, Obama could be a pan lined with stickum to which nothing sticks because nothing is ever put in the pan.
Rising above the slime? Again not so. He used positive labels for a negative theme. His candidacy largely centered on the theme that the nation is on the brink of ruin, its greatness is lost and he alone can restore greatness. It was all about tearing down the image of the nation--creating unease, fear and unrest and disatisfaction. |

...only PROPAGANDISTS.
Please , please let some rich bunch of CONSERVATIVES take over CBS and give us NEWS again!
Morrow demands it! The media does not give us NEWS, ONLY propaganda.
Rush, Sean forget Fox- give us real news- please! |

As I said in another comment...Obama could have been found out as a serial killer with 10 dead bodies down in his basement and the young and old ignorant, I deserve hand-outs, oppressed black people would still of voted for him. They don't care what he stands for or what he believes in, they care ONLY about one thing and that thing is the color of his skin. And then there are the young kids that don't know anything yet. Obama "preyed" on the ignorant to get him elected and that is where Acorn came in. Praying on the young easily influenced college kids was a sick (but smart for his campaign) move. Preying on the homeless shelters was another sick move. What do the homeless know about the facts? Do they stay up on the latest news by reading the papers they wrap themselves up in? I could go on and on and on and on. My god, he didn't "win" the presidency by receiving the highest number of intelligent informed votes. He got his way in by playing dirty and being deceiving.
I am not sad that he was elected though, all I care about is that he does not raise taxes and that he doesn't screw up foreign relations. I wish him luck, for America's sake. |
