What's Next With the "Pastor Disaster"?
Posted by: Michael Medved at 8:02 PM
Now that Barack Obama has finally and unequivocally denounced Jeremiah Wright, the next move is up the rantin' Rev himself.

How is he likely to respond?

It seems obvious that the Obama camp would greatly prefer an angry attack-- featuring insults like "Judas" and "Uncle Tom" and "Zionist Tool." If anything, Obama's comments today seemed designed to provoke Rev. Wright and to produce the kind of bitter (to use one of Barack's favorite words) reaction that would do more than anything else to separate the pastor from his former protege', once and for all.

If Al Sharpton and other race-baiting radicals and extremists joined in with their own condemnations of Senator Obama, it would be all the better for his campaign and his candidacy.

Then, and only then, would Obama be able to get back on track as the "post racial unifier" who stood up to hate-mongers on all sides and spoke directly to the broad American middle.

If Pastor Wright remains uncharacteristically silent -- with no angry words about the "anger" which Barack explicitly aimed at him -- then it's a sure sign that he's so deeply enraged by his former friend's betrayal that he wants, above all, to damage the Obama campaign.

Ironically, if he maintains any remaining affection for the Junior Senator from Illinois, he'll speak up within the next few days and attack him as a sell out.

It's precisely the sort of verbal assault that will help assure primary victories in both North Carolina and Indiana on May 6th.

Every Hollywood producer knows that the best way to build up a hero is to provide him with a compelling, charismatic villain as his chief enemy. At the moment, in political terms, Jeremiah Wright qualifies as the most useful enemy in the world.

P.S.
And many INNOCENT people were in the Mid East.
Who bombed Laos and Cambodia? Who ousted Mohammed Mossadegh in Iran in 1953 and installed the Shah(complete with torture chambers and prisons)? WHO GAVE SADDAM THE GAS you reichers SCREAM ABOUT (he was OUR BOY!) ??? \
Who helped set up the Greek Military Junta in Greece in the 60s and 70s? Who SUPPORTED 2 corrupt puppet dictatorships in Viet Nam? Diem and Thieu ? Marcos? Somoza? Mass murder in the Philippines in and after the Spanish American War? Pinochet in Chile? Peron?
Black Slavery? Yes..... But let's not forget the BIG ONE... the systematic genocide of the First Americans. By the MILLIONS.
A message for doughy white racists like John Gibson and Bill MALMADY O'LIE-ly: When you are on the heinous end of a policy for GENERATIONS.... it is a BIT harder to come back from..... so STOP equating Wright's racism with your own. 1) despise gay people
2) call Arabic people Towelheads, Sand Monkeys, Sand Niggers, or Hahjies. (I was in Viet Nam....the slur was GOOK, then.)
3) Support the DISASTER in Iraq... with all the DEATH of Iraqis. HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS! But that kind of death is OK with you, it's just all those "t'urrrrurisssst" brown people.
But if a six week old FETUS is aborted, you have APOPLEXY. And you WANT THE DEATH PENALTY. Wow... square THAT CIRCLE. One last thing: I have been in war, and come from an entire family of combat veterans, so save your John Wayne chickenhawk tough talk, and UNPATRITOIC SMEARS for people who don't know better. Rev. Wright is right about one thing. The karmic chickens ARE roosting... the US DOD and CIA have murdered or,by PROXY, killed untold 100s of thousands of INNOCNET people worldwide since 1947.

Do A FEW - A FEW - of you still night ride?
Burn "things"? Hang "things" in trees?

Advocate for a new kind of Nixon-Helms-Buchanan Southern Strategy? Have eye-hole cutouts in your sheets? // Paul Weyrich: "I don't want everyone to vote (read: MINORITIES)..." Does that sound like a winner to you? Do you like the fact that THOUSANDS of black votes in FL were suppressed? By both BOGUS felony rolls (TY, Choicepoint!) and by overseas MILITARY ballots being thrown away... like that? OH NO! A 1/2 black man could be POTUS !!!!! OH NO !!!!!!

Oh,I forgot, a FEW of you REICHERS cannot be that blatant these days.... you have to "USE CODE". YES: Rev. Wright is a loon and a racist, true, but that has little to do with skin pigmentation. And I have heard some of you Reichers on the radio say: "Obama has a race problem he needs to address." (like that VILE mysogynist, BIGOTED CHICKENHAWK PIG: el Rushb). Obama has the race problem???? Obama has to do a McCain
For Obama to have any shot to get out of this he should act like the only true crossover artist in this campaign, John McCain. McCain has gone directly to the poorest and most democratic areas of the country.

Obama has to do the same to survive. For once in his life he should go to places where he is not the adored golden boy and take his lumps. To y knowledge I have not ever seen him take on anyone not to left of McGovern.

Hillary is already taking that cue by appearing on conservative TV and radio. Crossover appeal sells well.

And any Republican who thinks this appeal isn't working for John McCain, he is neck and neck with The Dem candidates even though the Republican party stands 20 points behind the Dems in the polls.

To clarify, Missouri -- where the result was a three-way split between McCain (33%), Huckabee (32%) and Romney (29%) -- is the only state where, in addition to Republicans and independents, it may have taken the vote of crossover Dems to give McCain the victory. In every other state McCain won, the vote of Republicans and independents was enough.

"it's called, 'letting Democrats and Independents vote in Republican primaries'"

-- In open primaries an average of 3% of the vote was by Dems; in closed primaries, an average of 3% of the vote was by crossover Dems. Also, it's a good idea to let independents vote in GOP primaries since their votes are necessary in the general. Voter registration nationwide runs: 43% Democrat, 33% Republican, 24% independents and third parties. If voter turnout matches that breakdown, AND most voters vote the party line, it becomes very difficult for Republicans to win without the support of independents.

"McCain never won a single primary with a majority of Republican voters until after it was a foregone conclusion"

-- As already noted, prior to Romney dropping out McCain won 15 states; in 9 of those contests McCain received the majority of Republican votes; in New Hampshire he lost to Romney by 1%, in South Carolina he lost to Huckabee by 1%; in Florida he tied with Romney, in Oklahoma he tied with Huckabee. I couldn't find numbers for Delaware, but given McCain's 12 point margin of victory overall he probably took the GOP vote in that state as well.

In states where he won the Republican vote McCain won it by an average of 18 points. All of this BEFORE Romney and Huckabee dropped out.

"Was I present in the pew when some of those statements that many would consider controversial were made? Yes."

"I was not present during those statements, Larry."

"I am outraged. I am saddened by the spectacle we saw yesterday."

(I am quoting these words by Barack Obama by memory, not from text. They may or may not be word for word, but I am confident that there is no distortion or taking out of context.)

Today, in the wake of Jeremiah Wright's appearances before the NAACP in Detroit and the National Press Club in Washington, Barack Obama has spoken out strongly against Wright. In reality, Obama had to do this in order to keep his viability as a candidate. No longer could he (or Wright) claim that the pastor's statements were taken out of context-or in sound bites. Both appearances have been shown in their entirety. Wright has confirmed the content of the sermons that we had previously witnessed in "sound bites". At this point, with Wright seemingly going on a speaking tour and a book coming out in October, Obama had to speak out....

"Kos himself did do a mini-Op Chaos, he called on Dems to vote for Romney in Mich to give him the win and screw up the Rep primary."

-- IF that's true, and by that I mean IF the Dems actually listened to Kos, how does that relate to Pasadena Phil's charge that Dems crossed over to make sure McCain got the nomination? I don't read Kos but I have no doubt that he did this, although only because Obama's name wasn't on the Michigan ballot. He didn't call for the same tactic in Florida (where both Clinton and Obama were on the ballot) even though he knew the Dem primary vote wouldn't count. And there's no evidence of a coordinated effort in any other state, is there?

Oh, and by the way, the Dems voted 41% to 33% for McCain over Romney in Michigan. Seven percent of the voters were Dem crossovers; the average in every other state has been 3 percent.

"Had the primaries been closed, McAmnesty would have been done in the first few weeks."

-- Romney won 11 states; 3 of them had open primaries. Huckabee won 8 states; 4 of them had open primaries. Prior to Romney dropping out McCain won 15 states; 2 of them had open primaries. TWO! That includes Maryland (2 days before Romney dropped out) and Missouri, for a grand total of 95 delegates ... 8% of the total needed for nomination. Missouri is also the ONLY state where the vote of Dems, without the help of independents, MIGHT have been the deciding factor for McCain.

Of the 7 states McCain won between the dropout of Romney and the withdrawal of Huckabee, 4 of them had open primaries. Romney and Huckabee combined to win 7 open primary states; McCain won six.

Obama - the Black Liberation Theologist
Rev Wright isn't the problem... he is the ANSWER!!

Many wondered - WHO is Barack and Michelle Obama??

20 years in a Black Liberation Theology Church headed by Rev Wright. A place where they married, baptized their kids, felt comfortable, a church "home".

Rev Wright has shown us WHO Barack and Michelle are - a BLT couple.

Barack and Michelle certainly heard the rants from Wright before. They read the Hamas rhetoric in their church bulletins. But it wasn't until Wright called Barack a "politician" did Obama become angry.

It wasn't until white folks (Iowa) began voting for a black man that Michelle became "proud of her country for the first time in her adult life".

If you held the BLT views - all of this makes sense. Question is - do voters want a BLT President?

I certainly hope not!!

A new group in Democrat coalition
The Democratic Party has always been a coalition of various self-interested groups and lobbies:

The union group
The feminist group
The black group
The hispanic group
The gay group
The environmental group
The animal rights group
The anti-war group, etc., etc., etc.

Each of these groups has demanded, and got, a seat at the Party table and the Democrats have obliged. They have not only paid lip service to each group's cause - they have even embraced and applauded each group's cause.

The Hillary/Obama debacle has introduced another group. This group has never been embraced or applauded. In fact, this group has never even been acknowledged - until this primary. This group?

The racist group.

There are many Democrats who refuse to vote for a black candidate. They are withholding Obama's nomination from him because he is black. If Hillary wins the nomination, the racist group will quietly show the black group to the back door of the modern, racist, Democratic Party.

Who will be praising "Reverend" Wright when that happens?

Joe, I disagree. If Hillary can post low double digits in Indiana and win by a small margin in NC, I am willing to bet the DNC will help orchestrate a revote in FL and MI--it will be clear that Obama can't win the general.

To your point about a Greek Tragedy being played out before us, I agree. However, I think there is a lesson Obama is learning. He used Wright to further his political career in Illinois, and now his help, as well as his philosophies, are a hindrance to Obama’s reach for the presidency. The real important factor is how black America responds. If black America rallies to Obama, and that is why it is so important for Bill Cosby, Oprah and so many others to step forward NOW and not later after this has settled, I can't see Obama losing the election. Actually, we should all ask him to register at a furniture store and we contribute to furnishing his new 1.6M retirement home. I guess Obama's won't be sending in anymore money. LOL!

Wright's Book Titled.....
How to mentor a black president....the audacity of race superiority and keeping it real. He should also include conversations with Barack about what he would do when he became president and of course the juicy 'fall out' staged to give Barack an opportunity to still present himself as a uniter who will even 'dis' his mentor/uncle for sake of country. What a crock! These people and their drama should be sent back to inner city chicago where they can't live without self created drama. Can you imagine the drama that would follow Obama to the whitehouse? This is just a snippet of things to come...we haven't even explored his Kenyan family yet. All we know is that cousin Raila Odinga does not like losing elections and pays his supporters to kill other ethnic groups. Obama is the most foreign influenced, inexperienced and unqualifed man to ever ran for POTUS. Go home Obama and take Wright with you - that is enough!

Who cares? This is pure torture.
I've had it up to my eyeballs with this whole mess. Will someone please make it stop? I can't take this all the way to nov. I'm going to start painting again.

Wright has a picture of.....
Barack, Farakhan and himself at the million man march. Then he can say 'i said it before and I say it again, you can not change who you are'. It is impossible for Barack to have been mentored by Wright and gone to the million man march and not known that Wright holds Farakhan in high regard - whaaaaaa? Sorry Barack but the joke is on you, you did not expect your mentor to sit by while you falsely presented yourself as a uniter who believes ALL races are equal, did you? The Black Liberation Theology is clear about 'equal and seperate' because 'blacks are superior'. So close I tell you, so close!

Who is the real villain?
If Wright were to retaliate, it would depend on how he retaliates to determine the villain. If Wright can strike back with letters written by Obama to him, notes/tapes from church meetings or videos displaying a closer relationship, then the question would become who is the real villain? As I posted on a previous blog, the national press has allowed Obama to evolve into the "anonymous" candidate. I think most people can agree we know more about Rev. Wright and where he stands, like him or not, than we know about Obama who is running for President. Will the real Obama please stand up?
