Democratic Congressmen's Senior Aid Pushes "House Call" Protester
Posted by: Jillian Bandes at 3:21 PM
Rep. Gerry Connolly's Communications Director George Burke reportedly pushed Teri Christoph, executive director of the group "Smart Girl Politics," after she visited Connolly's office as part of today's "House Call" protest.

Christoph had asked Burke why it was necessary for her to put her flip camera away -- an answer Burke had given her after she asked repeated questions about Connolly's stance on Pelosi's health care bill. No one has forgotten just how evasive the Congressman has been on the issue, but now it seems that he's resorted to siccing senior staffers on his own constituents to continue to avoid accountability.

Burke allegedly pushed Christoph's arm down forcefully after she asked about her camera, and it drew gasps of surprise from both junior Connolly staffers and about half a dozen other visitors inside Connolly's office.

Christoph was told that she needed a press pass to have a camera.

"[Then] he bumped into my arm that was holding the camera and threatened to call the police," said Christoph. "His young staffers conducted themselves very very well, but his senior staffer made it seem like I was the enemy…"

Inquiries to Connolly's office about the altercation have not been returned.

UPDATE: Burke has adamantly denied the reports — though, not to this reporter.

I attended the rally yesterday
and it was a calm but energized event. This rally, on its two days notice, didn't draw the numbers that 9/12 did, but we were about 12-15,000 strong. I didn't go in to see the reps (NJ's reps are never available or visible, so why bother?).

This administration has no intention of listening to those who pay them. They have a protective coating of special interest groups (tribes, really), so they feel confident in taking more of our resources and flipping us off.

Get a grip AJ, caprock
Both of you are full of it. Keep on topic here. Not sure if you have seen the video she has (Christopher) but all it shows (or can be heard) is that polite staffer telling her that she must have a press credential to tape. She ignores him and says she isn’t press, she is a private citizen. She is politely told not to tape. If she won’t follow the policy of the office, why not call the police (or responsible law enforcement agency)? The alternative is to physically restrain/prevent the person’s camera from filming, as G. Burke allegedly did. Of course none of the sources used in the article bring up if her filming is legal or not. She would have mentioned being illegally inhibited from taping. Here is part of Christopher’s version of the story. “I had protested outside his ONE town hall meeting in August, where he snuck in the back entrance to avoid us tea partiers. Since Mr. Connolly has been so elusive, I welcomed the chance to find out his position on Pelosi-care and to voice my ardent opposition to it.” She waits outside to protest a position that she doesn’t know about instead of going inside where the discussion will be to find out if there is a reason to protest in the first place. In other words she is lying. She wasn’t there to find out any facts or she would have been inside where he was talking. She knew she would be ardently opposed to whatever position he had, with no time to think anything through. A saying from my Army days comes to me. “Either lead or follow or get the he'll out of the way”. Ms. Christopher and Bandes, please do one of the three.

Admitted, the current embarrasment-in-chief dragging his feet over stepping up and becoming a leader, a task no doubt he is clueless as to how to accomplish, is largely responsible for what happened at Ft. Hood today.

But, I suspect the fact this happened on the very day the HuffingtonPost decided to point out this major lack of leadership skills NObamaElMessiah suffers from was also a major contributing factor in sending this Muslim extremist nutcase over the edge.

Latest Word
is Pelosi will not post the bill on internet (72 hours before vote as promised).
Madame Pelosi - you have lost it - now you outwardly slap down - disrespect "we the people".
As a senior citizen - thoughts are - the government oversees our banking/investment industry - look where that has gotten us.
There is already overbearing government intrusion on the important issues in our life.
Now health care - that would be total and complete control - liberal Pelosi dream come true.
There are issues within the health care system that require attention - should be done in test areas - by private health care insurance companies - with data provided by state governments. There are not enough intelligent or experienced business people in Congress to figure out a worthwhile system for any segment of US commerce - let alone an issue as personal as health care. Being a life long politician does not expose anyone to reality - so how can they figure anything out - they look like a bunch of bumbling idiots.

Thank you for deciding for me what is liberty worthless enough to give up. My politics do not aim to reduce your liberty. I would not mind if you gave me the same respect. These "reforms" involve stealing my money, limiting my choices, and further causing problems in the delivery of healthcare. It is government interference that is causing the problem, not the market. I am all for reforming what is wrong with the cost of health care, but that is not what this is about.

As long as we are on the subject of abiding by Alinsky crap, have you actually read him? If you did, you may not take such a flipant approach to protecting our liberty from this bunch.

I am wondering why you are questioning my education as you continue to refer to our government as a democracy. Since the American experience is unique, and nobody before or since has tried any form of government like it, I am wondering what the early reactionaries wanted to revert to? Are you suggesting that those that believe in the return to constitutional bounds are in the line of the crown loyalists?

I will be the first to admit that I would like to reverse much of what we have done to ourselves over the last 100 years. The purpose of the government of this country is simply to ensure Liberty, not to do the will of the people. You have allowed yourself to be "educated" instead of seeking truth. You are clearly proud of he fact that you prefer following the wind of majority rule over the concepts of liberty that our founders gave us as a legacy in the constitution.

The founders expressed what they had in mind very clearly in a body of work that can easily be studied (anything from the Federalist Papers to early rulings of the Supreme Court to their published works and letters). It is nothing like what we have for a Federal Government today. The thing that is interesting is that both the founders and early observers such as Alexis de Tocqueville predicted this would happen, and made strong warnings to protect against it.

Could you site one democracy that did not eventually break down into tyrrany? If this one is so stable, why are we losing more liberty each year? We are not even happy with giving our own liberties away, we are now pledging that of our progeny not yet born. Are you as free today as you were when you were born? I am not.

Tyranny is the norm, not the extreme
sceptyczny-
You are making the mistake that democracy is stable, and that it results in greater freedom. You are also making the mistake that we have a democracy. We have a constitutional republic, and the rules can not change because of elections. The founders were trying to have representation without having a democracy, as history had and has continued to prove that democracy leads to tyranny. The main thing that the Intercollegiate Socialist Society understood that they had to do to bring socialism to the U.S. was to turn the public perception of our form of government from that of a constitutional republic with indirect representation to a democracy. 100 years later, the President of the United States, a supposed constitutional scholar, described the U.S. as a democracy, and compared its form of government to those that do not have limited powers and constitutionally protected liberty. Simply put, we have given away our republic, and attitudes like your (fear of being thought of as exteme) are what Obama is counting on. Have you read Rules for Radicals? Obama taught it, so don't you think it worth the time to at least give it a look. Short read, but will make it pretty clear.

The people that are concerned with Obama's actions are not reactionaries, but are simply people that are paying attention. This is what it has looked like again and again as free peoples were turned into subjects time and again. Look around. How many democracies have become more free? How many have become steadily less free until one demagog with the will and savvy to do it took power?

I would suggest that you start considering the warnings of the founding fathers, and the lessons of history. We are not extreme. We just have taken our heads out of the sand.

Fortunately, by the time the 2000 election came about, I had just left California for Missouri, so my two votes for George W. Bush DID count!

So what HAVE you told your sons (and anyone ELSE who knows how you voted in 2000 and 2004) about why you didn't see the CLEAR superiority (that's what you liberals are always telling us, after all) of Al Gore and John Kerry to George Bush?

These people are in Washington protesting against something they don't want the government to do. Whether you believe they are right or wrong, it does not make them anti-American. Just because the people one voted for didn't get elected does not mean one merely has to sit back and accept everything that is done. This is America, and people have the right to petition congress, and to have their voice heard, it doesn't matter if the person they voted for won or not, or whether they even bothered to vote.

This staffer had no right to put his hands on this woman.

Grow up.

And your claims that we want segregation to be returned or women made second class citizens is idiotic, especially when a couple posts before you talked about how we nominated a woman who supposedly scared everyone away from the R ticket. That must be why Obama got a whopping 53 percent of the vote. If we really had these views, Sarah Palin would never have been a mayor, let alone a VP candidate. You aren't even coherant in your claims.

Actually, the "incident" I was referring to in my prior post that I wanted to hear Mark Levin's comment on was the reports of harassment of those who descended on the Capitol today, since I knew that Levin was going to be present at that gathering today.

I only just learned about the incident at Fort Hood about ten minutes ago.

But regarding this incident at Fort Hood: IF (do you see that word, sceptyczny, IF, it's not WHEN, if your understanding of the English language is limited) the investigation starts uncovering hard evidence that this major was motivated by Islamic beliefs (haven't two OTHERS been arrested in connection with this incident?) rather than job stress, and a real backlash and anger builds among the American people against Muslims, I'm going to ENJOY watching the White House just TRY to stand with the Muslims THEN.

Remember, he said during the campaign that if the winds against Muslims in this country shifts in an ugly direction, he will stand with the Muslims.

Why would you, or Mark Levin, wait for facts? Gosh, remember when OK City happened, and it was supposedly a 'muslim'?

You reactionaries hate what does make this country great...our elections, our belief that people are innocent until proven guilty, our diversity. You hate each of those things because you are reactionary victims...you lose elections, but you really don't, right, you all just didn't vote because McCain was too liberal, right? You'd rather have a Dem elected in upstate NY because the GOP person was too liberal, right? This major is a terrorist because he has a middle eastern name, right? Diversity hurts white males, right?

You say Obama and others hate this country. You are simply projecting your own hatred of what you think the country has become, because it isn't just like it was in 1947 when white folks ran the show, women knew their place, and all those minorities were polite or they got lynched.

I'm sure you've ALREADY been told this by MANY a conservative poster on this site who has seen a sample of your work, but it never hurts for you to hear it again: you're the CLASSIC case of a "useful idiot".

Your kind actually wouldn't OBJECT to the kind of totalitarian power grab some here think Obama harbors wet dreams about undertaking - because you lib lemmings actually think that under such a regime, just because you supported the cause, you would be one of the favored, and that the regime would only go after the "right people", presumably meaning conservatives.

But once the totalitarians are in power, they don't NEED the "useful idiots" anymore - and as far as those now running things are concerned, they're just as expendable as those that they see as their hardest-core opponents. As I've said many a time on this site, MANY of those who perished in the gulags of the communist world were the very same people who worked for and helped bring to power the very regimes that later turned on them.

As George Will noted not long ago in a column, the very same French Revolution that Robespierre helped engineer that sent Marie Antoinette to the guillotine shortly thereafter sent HIM there as well.

Remember: ruthless people NEVER see ALLIES, they ONLY see ENEMIES.

If you'd ever bother to read my posts whenever I talk about Obama imposing martial law (you DO know how to read, right?), you'd notice that I always talk about what I think will happen in the aftermath IF Obama tries such a thing - not WHEN he tries such a thing.

If you haven't noticed by now, there are conservatives who post here who are sure that Obama WILL take such an action, that's it not a question of IF, merely WHEN. I was merely speaking to one, Take Back The Government, who has this belief.

By the way, MILLIONS of Americans share this concern - and have prepared for it, and ARE preparing for it, by arming themselves and stocking up on ammo. I'm sure you'll be DELIGHTED to hear that there's a gun show here in Kansas City this weekend, and I plan to attend it - if for no other reason than to stock up on ammo. I may even buy another gun or two. So I'll TOO be fully locked and loaded. I just KNOW the thought of THAT will help you to sleep better at night.

And before you go accusing us conservatives of being delusional in this matter: that Civilian National Security Force I mentioned in my prior post isn't something conservatives FANTASIZE about Obama wanting to bring about, OBAMA HIMSELF INTRODUCED THAT CONCEPT INTO THE NATIONAL DIALOGUE LAST YEAR! Obama said of it that he wants it to be as strong, as populated, and as well-funded as our military. So YOU tell us all just what this CNSF is supposed to DO that the U.S. military, the National Guard, and local law enforcement agencies don't or can't ALREADY do. And please don't try to sell the baloney here that Obama wants what amounts to AmeriCorps on steroids: what he clearly has in mind is an ARMED force. To do WHAT? Sounds like the start of an American SD to ME.

No, sceptyczny, that's what the left does. Bomb the Capitol, police stations, throw rocks, destroy artwork. I've been around Washington for many years and the ONLY people who think they have the right to close down institutions and destroy lives and property for their cause is the left. Always, invariably, it's the left. The bullet holes in the House Chamber were put there by the left. Even the recent shooting at the Holocaust Museum was done by the LEFT (NAZI's are leftists--the "extreme" right are libertarians).

The Constitution guarantees citizens the right to petition Congress--unlike the health care which is not guaranteed ANYWHERE. An election is not meant to abbrogate the supreme law of this land. You need to re-read the Declaration of Independence, son.

Standshisground writes: Thursday, November, 05, 2009 5:03 PM
Take Back The Government
One thing I have a LOT of confidence in is that if Obama gins up some excuse to TRY to declare martial law that's anything other than a bona-fide natural disaster (like Hurricane Katrina), the U.S. military, with fairly few exceptions, will NOT go along with orders to impose it. I also feel reasonably confident that most local police departments likewise will not do so.

And given that a lot of those in the National Guard are ex-military or ex- or currently-serving law enforcement, I believe they, TOO, will refuse to obey such orders.

So who will that leave for Obama to enforce such an order? We don't have YET that Civilian National Security Force that Obama in last year's campaign talked about starting. I SUPPOSE that once he's discovered that the U.S. military was balking at becoming in effect an American SS, he COULD try appealing to the U.N. to send "peacekeeping forces" to try to occupy U.S. cities - but I am TOTALLY convinced that THEY'D be met with armed resistance from the U.S. military, from local police forces, AND from MILLIONS of armed Americans willing to die, if necessary, to stop any Obama attempt to set himself up as a dictator. And we KNOW that the U.N. forces are used to terrorizing DEFENSELESS people - as they have in Africa. Once they confronted with the bullets of people willing to shoot back, they'll quickly skedaddle back from whence they came - and once they do, if he still has even TWO functioning brain cells left, Obama will have joined their exodus out of the United States.
