Hoping to draw in "non-base voters," as well as conservatives, Fred Thompson's campaign will live-blog Sunday night's debate in both English and Spanish.
That's according to campaign manager Bill Lacy, pollster John McLaughlin, and web guru John Henke.
This is likely the first time any presidential campaign has live-blogged a debate in Spanish.

|
So the GOP thinks that by live-blogging in Spanish they'll lure the "non-base" voters? Sorry Fred, but phoning in your campaign isn't working even yet. Your "base" and your party left the non-base, spanish-speaking voter in the mud last summer when they chose to hatemonger on immigration.
Obviously, GOPers think the average memory doesn't extend past last week. No, Fred, only your base seems to exist with their heads fully up their you-know-whats. |

who voted against impeaching SLICK WILLIE... |
|
Voted in 1996 to continue chain migration. Voted to strip legal reforms from 1996 bill. Voted in favor of chain migration again in 1996. Voted for a foreign worker bill with no anti-fraud measures in 2000. As committee member, produced H-1B [guest worker] doubling bill in 1998. Nearly doubled H-1B foreign high-tech workers in 1998. Voted in committee against including worker safeguards in H-1B bill in 1998. Voted to allow firms to lay off Americans to make room for foreign workers in 1998. Voted again to allow firms to lay off Americans to make room for foreign workers in 1998. Voted to grant amnesty to nearly one million illegal aliens from Nicaragua and Cuba in 1997. In 1996, removed higher fines for businesses which hire illegal aliens. Tried to kill voluntary pilot programs for workplace verification in 1996.
Maybe we should look at what he did as senator, rather than what he now says.

You're friends may be legal immigrants - but are they US Citizens? If they were they would understand the importance of one language - ENGLISH - and the need to be fluent in the language of the country they have chosen to come to and make their home.
It is the one language - ENGLISH - that unites us as Americans.
Of course, if they've come here merely to reap the benefits so generously offered to immigrants, legal and illegal, and have no intention of assimilating into our nation (learning to read, write and speak English fluently is the first step to assimilation) - and since they have been here for "years" and still are more fluent in spanish than ENGLISH - well then I guess they really have no intention or desire to become US Citizens. So why do they even care what Fred has to say?

on Illegal Immigration... Don't think there will be much pandering to illegals. He's Pro "Fence", Pro E-verify, Pro corporate responsibility to "No Match" letter reconciliation, and Anti Sanctuary City. He feels that if the laws we currently have on the books were enforced and finished building the physical and technological fence, we could deal with the illegals that are here through attrition. If they don't have jobs, they will go home.... |
|
|
If he did what you first suggested, I'd vote for him. I expect him to do the same as you suggest in the last line. |
|
Maybe Fred will tell all of the illegals (in Spanish) that they broke the law and that they need to return home.
Maybe he will tell them that the US will protect its borders and that its citizens are tired of the crime and cost of illegal immigration.
Now THAT would be a terrific thing to put in Spanish and it would show that Fred has cajones.
Of course, I'm expecting him to cower and tell illegals how wonderful they ALL are, that the US is a land of immigrants, so on and so on. |

Spencer Abraham(Fred's Campaign Mgr)has a history of "open border idealogy" and received the "Defender of The Melting Pot" award from "LaRaza" in 1997. On his staff also, Liz Cheney(Daughter of the V.P.) and Howard Baker. Fred is a Neocon Globalist and "Fellow" at the "American Enterprise Institute"(Neocon Think Tank)(Smallgovtimes.com 3-20-07) Fred is GWB at 6ft 7in. He is what he is, and even voted against Clinton's impeachment. |

I don't blame the Senator for trying this. However, I think he needs to be more aggressive with what he thinks and feels and also start spelling out exactly what he would like to do. it almost kind of seems like he's just sitting back expecting folks to vote for him because of his past. Hell, if that was the case we should be able to retire after just two years of doing a pretty good job somewhere. |

What part of illegal do you not understand. I have a good friend from the Domenican Republic; she and her husband are here legally and have been for years. Yes, they know English, but are more fluent in Spanish, idiot! So, this is a good thing. |
