The Most Busted Names In News

I took to calling CNN "the most busted name in news" during the Eason Jordan meltdown in early 2005. Since then it has grown addicted to Lou Dobbs' pseudopopulism while maintaining an hilariously lefty attitude towards most news. The networks two best talents, Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper, are surrounded by a cast of agenda-journalists who, like Penelope unweaving her tapestry each night, undo each day all the good work that Blitzer and Cooper attempt to accomplish. CNN isn't a cartoon network, but a network of cartoon figures like Jack Cafferty and Dobbs pretending to be objective journalists. Now we have proof positive that the backroom producers are as biased as Cafferty and Dobbs.
Last night's fiasco was so thorough that it will take a while to settle in just how damaging it was to CNN's reputation as a news organization. From the awful judgment displayed with the opening guitar serenade through the preposterous selection of topics and questions right to the stark reality that CNN either was easily and completely manipulated by the Dems with planted question after planted question or were totally complicit in the hijacking of a Republican debate designed to serve Republican primary voters about who ought to be the Republican nominee. The network is either incompetent in a way no serious news organization should be, or wholly captured by agenda journalists of the left.
No serious anchor would want to be where Cooper is today, at the center of a vast train wreck which cannot be explained away as the inevitable result of the sudden appearance of big news in a difficult setting, as with hysterical Katrina coverage of bodies stacked in freezers and gun fights in the Superdome, or the result of the input of bad data, as with the early call of Florida for Gore in 2000.
No, this premeditated mediocrity. The network had months to prepare and consider and execute. But even with all that time, it lacked the minimal talent necessary to produce a serious debate about important issues using new technology. All it could deliver was a carnival of bad taste, trick questions, and full frontal left wing bias.

Thanks, Scarlet, for the Line of the Week re-evolution. Wonderful! |
|
I agree with Scarlet that you are the only semi-pleasant Lib at the Hall. Where do you get your general information? Just curious. |
|
|
Anyone who trusts CNN for news isn't dealing with reality. No wonder it's the moonbats favourite network. |
|
Only when the MSM starts to attack its own do issues like this stay alive. Yet not even Fox and the WSJ are hounding CNN about this, and the issue fades daily.
The Democrats boxed and excluded Fox as a debate sponsor from the git-go with no legitimate justification. Yet none of the Republican candidates have spoken yet of boycotting CNN. |
|
|
What's with the Johnny Reb? See, that's why I love your opinions. They're so off the cuff and thoughtless. Like a less informed Archie Bunker. |
|

I'm one of the few folks here who defends you. I enjoy your opinions. |

...born, and bred, of the '60's turmoil, and turbulance. You know the stuff, we, has a nation, acted to end discrimination, poverty, and racism. Speculative, liberal, legislation abounded to quell the difficulties. Liberals learned well from that, interject turmoil, and turbulance, then reap the benfits. Heck, the MSM is nothing without a story that evokes passion, and anger. The left is the same with their actions. The arsonist of politics, needing a fire to quell. |
|
|
Your dancing with idiots. There's not enough cerebal activity here to discern a paleoconservative from a liberal! They have been seduced by neocons for so long that they think Woodrow Wilson was a radical isolationist! And Hillary scares them so bad that they have no concept that we survived the plague of LBJ! They want a "Great Society" but intend to enforce Democracy and Political Correctness simultaneously under the islamaphobic fear that there is a terrorist behind every tree after 6 years of nothing but Mexicans invading the country!...................But, they all have a flag screaming charge with their diplomas behind closed doors! Harvard would be proud! |
|
Perhaps the libs admire the style of their caricature of Senator McCarthy, why shouldn't they as they made it up anyway, they have no such love of reality, but then smug arrogant types usually don't.
Such types don't discuss, debate, and exchange with interlocutors, but rather paint a self serving caricature for the presumed admiration of others, and even when others are shaking their head at their self evident buffoonery, they press on anyway, which brings to mind the film (whatever you thought of the trial itself), Inherit the Wind, with libs playing their own version of the Hollywood characterization of William Jennings Bryan: sanctimonious; pompous; buffoon. Naturally enough, the movie and the actual events had little in common, and naturally, the fop was actually Darrow of ACLU fame, but what the hey. That's Hollywood, and that's CNN.

__I always wondered, if evolutionist were stating fact, why I did not see apes evolving into humans today? You answered my question, now I need to rethink the evolutionist arguement. |
|
|
__We have the deficit today because of the Clinton administration cuts. Rudy Giuliani, campaigning in Iowa states, "Bill Clinton cut our military and our intelligence budget by such a huge amount that we've never made up the difference," Crawl out from under your shrinking security blanket. We are fighting a war Bill Clinton fought with paper, staples, and duct-tape. All to prop up the left base of factions. Look at the numbers, it's real easy to find his cuts, his raising of taxes, and where the money went. Not only was president Bush left having to fight a war that, the do nothing left, left alone, he needed to rebuild the force. Has America also needed to fulfill the promises Clinton made to the lefts factions. |
|
Well we now know that it wasn't the so called style and decency of Senator McCarthy that the left deplored, but rather, that he was correct: There were communists, fellow-travelers, and subversives in Gov., as well as in other sectors of US society.
I watched an interesting lecture by M. Staton Evans on CSPAN a few days ago and he asserts that no one accused of subversive activities by Senator McCarthy has ever been proven otherwise, but on the contrary, such individuals have indeed been found to be subversive communists and fellow travelers. Certainly, Hiss was one.
Actually, as it turns out, the left is wholly enamored of their caricature of McCarthy's style.
For instance in the CNN debate (of which I heard some truly insipid questions cast by CNN regulars on the Rush Limbaugh show):
Are you now or have you ever been a racist: (Confederate flag question).
Are you now or have you ever been a homophobe: (gays in the military question).
Are you now or have you ever been a religious fanatic/hypocrite: (do you believe in the bible and what would Jesus do questions).

"If evolution is a fact, why are there still Dem/libs?"
Best comment of the day. Though don't discount evolution entirely: SoyBomb and Brob have the monkey-esque groupthink down perfectly. Perhaps liberals are just an evolutionary step (or several) behind? |
|
SoyBomb and Brob, sorry, but your irrational thought processes are ineffectual here.
I smell Hillary astroturfing... |
|
|
that the party of scumbags like Begala, Clinton, Clinton, Carville and McAuliffe would infiltrate an attempt at a legitimate discussion of affairs that will impact democracy with lying liars posing as solid citizens. Boy, did I save time by doing something else. Only 11 more months to go. |
|
|
If evolution is a fact, why are there still Dem/libs? |
|
Jeez, ABS is right. No sarcasm there whatsoever. The guy/gal actually called it and things turned out the way ABS said it would. Give him/her some credit.
The question is this though, why has Malkin picked up on the same meme? I thought she was a 9u11iani shill, but she's also on the CNN attack bandwagon and is now touting Master Mitt as well. Maybe there is an internal GOPer conspiracy to push Mitt through, and all of this CNN Conspiracy talk is just part of downplaying his poor perormance. He really was the biggest loser there last night. |
|
Brob, you obviously have no idea about what makes for quality of life. A healthy economy, sound defense, and being respected around the world have nothing to do with quality of life.
We in the GOP base value and stand-by the following: - the rebel flag, yeee hawwww! - the Bible, and having a president that prays the way we do - our right to be all Ruby Ridge and be able to shoot the black helicopters - our right to chase and demogogue the Mexis, and be modern day Know Nothings - our right to enforce our morality on others with regard to abortion, gay rights, and drug policy - pissing off the rest of the world - denying healthcare to the uninsured, and esp. uninsured children - keeping science out of classrooms - keeping sex education out of schools - doing our best to consume as much fossil fuel as possible, evidence of global warming be damned! - and making sure we win the most important war of all, the War against Christmas |

My post from yesterday:
***** "My prediction: If Mitt does well under fire, Hugh will forget all about his gripes with the format, and he will be crowing about Romney's fine performance tomorrow.
However, if Mitt does poorly...
We will be treated to another whining rant about the mainstream media, CNN, anti-Mormon bigotry, etc., etc. Then Hugh will start... crowing about Romney's fine performance anyway!
Added points if he includes a mention of "serious" voters and/or "serious" candidates." *****
Hugh didn't label Anderson Cooper an anti-Mormon bigot (not yet, anyway!), but everything else I said came true: anti-MSM rant, anti-CNN rant, Romney did great and won rant, and to top it off, not one but TWO uses of "serious" in the post above! I win! With that track record, I think I deserve my own blog post on Townhall!
|
|

We all can agree, even the lefty loons on the forum , that CNN did not win anything. They are so in the tank for the Dems that no one should be surprised at the planted questions. NRO and others have stated that perhaps Dems should question the Pubs and viceversa. Wait. That should happen when both parties have a nominee! Actually, the Pubs were made to really look divided. So the Left should be very happy. The only real conservative answers were from Fred and he is slowing disappearing! Still, I will support any of the top 5 and love Hunter for our next SECDEF. Ads should also be nationwide from now on. In '94 when Newt broke the dicatorship of 45 years of Dem rule, ads that made it a national contest were aired and they worked because they destroyed the myths of the lefty Dems. It is now time for the Pubs to do the same thing. |
|
Question to answer.
I would take Bush over Clinton everytime. Just for beginners, he took over a robust economy (growing at 3.5%) and in two short years bragged how he saved the economy, that was perking at just 2.7%. Excuse me but 3.5 is better than 2.7. And it is documented that his administration was the most corrupt in history. And he did NOTHING about the time bomb that is the Middle east. |
|
O-yeah, they guy who wants to bomb Pakistan.
That should many them all happy. |
|
Utterly amazing.
What else can anybody say about CNN's performance in orchestrating last night's Republican debate in Florida? CNN's producers and staff literally didn't learn *anything* after November's Dem "debate" fiasco in Las Vegas. What on Earth possessed them to go out and dig their hole deeper?
Not that CNN's producers and staff care, except maybe for Anderson Cooper, who at least partially acknowledged the extent to which CNN's production of the Republican debate was corrupted, but here's how they might go about regaining their lost credibility, expressed in terms that even an elementary school student (or even a CNN producer or staff member) might understand:

Utterly amazing.... |

NoDonkey, please read "Goodbye to All That" by Andrew Sullivan. It appeared in the latest Atlantic Monthly, and gives a good endorsement of Obama. You can also consult either of Obama's books for more background on his experience. I can't recommend Edwards or Hillary, but I'll be in the solid majority of Americans that votes for these two in 08 should either garner the nomination. I have no intention of voting for any of the GOPers. They're creepy and mean, and represent the worst in America, i.e. the fears and predjudices of America's christianists and xenophobes. Also, we've reaped the "rewards" of "experience" with the idiot Boy King Decider's brain trust. He put in plenty of people with "experience" and look what we got.
The GOP already played that card and it didn't go over too well. |
|
Let's see, the news group who said zip when Saddam was killing anyone who would not follow his ways or when his sons put people in screaders. Why because CNN wanted to stay in Iraq so they kissed Saddams butt.
What were you saying about FOX again? |
|
|
__Awhile ago I wrote a blog concerning the left, and their claim of dominance in the blogosphere. I concluded that their constant use of, so called facts, was easily defeated by the same source which they used to spread their fairy tales. It's like shooting ducks in a shooting gallery pond. Republicans were wary going in to enemy territory, and the results show the cause of their being wary. We still come out a winner on this attempted deception by the left. As the campaign progresses the truths of their attempt to deceive America, will come to bite them in the pocket. The left rear pocket. It will be fun to watch CNN ratings drop even more. |
|
Brob,
You forgot to mention Ted "I like Jesus almost as much as male prostitutes" Haggerd, Mark "I like young boys" Folley, and Bob "Larry Craig wannabe" Allen in FL. Not to mention paragons of virtue like David "I like whores too, but at least I'm straight" Vitter and Henry "I'm a dead adulterer and hypocrite" Hyde.
And don't forget the indicted and soon to be indicted - Ted Stevens, DeLay, Lott, Bob Ney, Conrad Burns, and Ralph Reed.
Remember, these here GOPers are value voters, and they only line up behind the most virtuous. |
|
|
I think it was Huckabee that said the kids of illegal immigrants should not be punished for what their parents do, I guess that means that the kids of legal Americans whose parents break the law should get some kind of break and help from the state. Let's be fair. |
|
If you are too young to remember Bill Clinton lied to the whole nation on TV, I forgive you. If you are old and have dementia, I forgive you. If you are of the age to remember and purposely do not to protect Bill Clinton, you are a liar of the worst order. You my friend would make a good breeding ground for "June Bugs". Enough time on a fool. Many of you have chosen to pick and choose looking for something good to say about CNN. This announcer is good, that one is not, etc.. Who cares? CNN since its inception has been substandard at best. The network has a long history of being on the wrong side of wars and supporting those that demonstrate no merit and a lot of demerit. Even its founder married and slept with a Communist. CNN is and has been a moth eating at the American fiber--I have nothing good to say about it or anyone that would subvert a personal standard to work there. |
|
You guys are pretty good at lying about the GOP candidates, but what I never see from the lefty posters is why Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama or John Edwards would make a good President.
Since your such positive people and all (you just told me so), please tell me why.
Then we can all have a good laugh. Because your prospective Dem nominees aren't qualified to run the houseware section of the Topeka Wal-Mart, much less occupy the Oval Office. |
|
When a majority of Americans comes out to vote for Obama or Hillary in 08, will it be because a majority of Americans are insane, boozehounds, or drug addicts?
Also, I can tell your a fun guy or gal. Why do all conservatives always have to be such joy-kills? No sex, no drink, no drugs, no art. You guys hate Hollywood, big cities, and college campuses, at least that's the perception I have. Does it have something to do with conservative types either being unpopular during their formative years or not so good looking? What would your ideal world look like anyway, some wack job compound in Texas where everyone gets a Bible and a rifle? |
|
NoDonkey, I guess you're agreeing that Clinton left the country better off than he found it, and while you're correct that Bush isn't on the ballot his disaster of a presidency will most definatley effect who wins the election. The reason a Dem is going to win the presidency in 08 (and the reason why the GOP is going to lose even more House/Senate seats) is because the GOP still hasn't learned that America is not a Redneck Nation. You may be a redneck, and many here may be rednecks, but that's just not the case for most of America. Most Americans don't buy into the clash of cultures talk that Bush and the 08 field promotes. Most Americans aren't that concerned with the rebel flag, their right to own an assault rifle, or whether or not they'll lose their lawn maintenance or food service job to a Mexigrant. These issues might be all the rage for the downmarket nutters featured in last night's debate, but not for most of America. It's a democracy, and you guys are going to lose. I'll explain all of this again in about a year. Until then keep spinning your wheels. |
|
I would respond to the former part of your nonsensical rambling, but I would rather not waste my time untangling your noxious screed.
"But the GOP has a pretty good lock on people with insecurities."
Yes, there are so few Democrats who are insecure. Except those who think they are one step away from homelessness at all times. Course since most Dems are either 1) insane 2) boozehounds 3) drug addicts, that's probably the case.
And for those Democrats who think Dick Cheney is listening to their phone calls and scanning their library reading lists - that's just rational thinking.
"Refusing to appear on Fox amounts to not going into the mud, that's all."
Well, the mud is where "plants" grow, isn't it? Are the Dems frightened that their "planted" questions won't grow in the Fox "mud"?
Is that because Dem "plants" are growing like beanstalks in the manure CNN spreads? |
|
Both Rudy and Mitt will not run away with this, that means it will go down to the convention. That is great news. The more GOP candidates discuss and fight over the issues, the better. It keeps us in the news over the Dems and makes the convention more exciting.
I have been critical of Mitt, but if he is the top dog to come out of this I will support him. If Rudy prevails, I will support him. If McCain or Thompson prevail (and I like them in that order of preference), I would be thrilled. If Huckabee or Duncan Hunter prevails (unlikely but it is possible) I will support them.
It may still boil down to Rudy or Mitt. But nothing is guaranteed. And I think that helps the party. |
|
about the environment, plants were everywhere, last night. Looks as if they gave equal footing to each candidate. Each democrat candidate, that is. A plant from each. Republicans should never, ever, appear on this network, again. Last night simply confirms the obvious. Has anyone ever seen their international news? To say that they are anti-American is an understatement. This group should never again be taken seriously. They are nothing but socialist who hate America.
|
|
One of the tenets of secular humanism is amorality, therefore, no rules apply them.
How do you out a CIA employee who paid to have her own name printed in "Who's Who" |
|
NoDonkey,
Who's calling who fearful again? The far right is the one that gets hysterical on a daily basis when it comes to terrorism, islam, immigration, "the assualt on Christianity", the evil MSM and the all powerful left wing conspiracy. You guys are the Ruby Ridge, Tim McVeigh, Eric Rudolph nutters who always hear black helicopters in the distance. The irony is that it's the big city folk, the ones who are much more likely to fall vicitim to some sort of random act of violence, that take a more measured approach to all of these threats, and that's why they tend to support the Dems. I'm not going to bring up the whole latent gay/sexual self loathing that's afflicting the GOP (Mark Folley, Larry Craig...) here for space considerations, because the list is too long and I don't want you to get confused and run out on your family or anything. But the GOP has a pretty good lock on people with insecurities. Refusing to appear on Fox amounts to not going into the mud, that's all. |
|
Last night was a cornacopia of liberal hysteria in the form of inane questions. Not one was a question a real Republican cares about. It is sad to see the children let out to play. Last night CNN became Dan Rather/Texas Guard Story and will probably be one of the reasons Republicans keep the White House in 08! The Nasticrats are the gift that just keeps on giving!
|
|
"Clinton left this country better off than he found it. Bush will never be able to say the same. Get ready for a landslide in 08."
I wasn't aware Bush was on the ballot. Or Clinton.
Oh yes, the woman who was deciding on the china pattern is running. The one who apparently was the only one in Washington not to be aware of her husband's tomcatting behavior. The woman who seemingly didn't "recall" anything about her time in the White House. The woman who carpetbagged to New York and campaigned on her hubby's name. The woman who has accomplished nothing of note in her political career. The woman who has zero executive experience or at being responsible for anything beyond casting partisan votes.
So after the Democrats spent 8 years alleging "incompetence", you're going to nominate the least qualified major party candidate in US history?
Good luck selling that. Though you'll have plenty of help from the hacks over at CNN. |
|
CDubber, again please strive for a sense of proportion if you want to convince a majority of Americans that you're not crazy and worthy of winning an election or two. GOPers with their own sexual hang-ups relentlessly went after Clinton for having sex with an intern.
Please compare the weight of this to the following crimes and misdemeanors: - outing a CIA agent - starting an unjustified war on false pretense - stacking the DOJ with incompetent hack prosecutors - dismissing DOJ officers for political reasons - a total departure from Geneva standards on torture - warrantless wiretaps and doing an end-run around FISA - using federal respources to overide State laws that legalize medicinal marijuana - incompetence in the face of natural and terrorist induced disaster
Clinton left this country better off than he found it. Bush will never be able to say the same. Get ready for a landslide in 08. |

This is the primary where each party discusses the issues that are important to them. This was a Republican Debate, therefore any reasonable, intelligent, respectful individual would understand the conservative are fed up with the games. they are demeaning the political process and making it appear as a childish game.
If, it were the other way around and Republican plants had been imposed on the Dems there would have been outrage on every mainstream medai outlet for 2 weeks.
I am tired of the 'no rules' attitude of the liberals. The disrespect for the process is unnerving and irritating, but what else could you expect from the Clinton News Network or the Commie News Network, if you will? |
|
"Fox News casts aspersion on itself not only by being a blatant right wing outlet, but by running more Anna Nicole coverage, more car chases, and more who-stole-the-white-baby stories than any other network."
Oh yes, and CNN runs nothing at all but serious news stories. Along with the same crapola all of the cable networks run.
Please tell me that you believe CNN has done a professional job on the debates? Because it's clear they haven't.
And if your precious Democrats are so tough, why is it that they wet their pantsuits over appearing in a Fox News debate? Think that's the toughest thing your poor widdle Dems will ever have to face in their widdle wives? |
|

Your analysis on Mitt winning is bunk says Medved. lol |
|
"because you are ashamed of your own candidates and need to re-direct attention elsewhere."
Yes, I really wish we had an unqualified, carpet bagger Senator who has accomplished nothing in her life running, along with an inexperience one-term Senator, topped off by a failed Senator who made his fortune bilking insurance companies.
Please - all of the Republican candidates (save the wingnut Ron Paul), are head and shoulders over the unqualified, unaccomplished, corrupt and incompetent Democrat candidates. |
|
Not sure which is more distasteful: the rank partisanship and dishonesty of the CNN production (were there any questions from actual--you know--Republicans?); or the apparent entitlement claimed by some here for "fake but accurate" moby questioners. "Open and honest debate" indeed.
You sure called that one, Hugh. |
|
"Clinton didn't lie to an entire nation, just the perverted hypocrite creeps who wanted to waist tax dollar money looking into his sex life."
Clinton lied *under oath* in legal testimony regarding a sexual harassment accusation. That's not an indiscretion, that's a crime. Period.
When are the DemLemmings going to get over this lame chestnut? |
|
NoDonkey, Fox News casts aspersion on itself not only by being a blatant right wing outlet, but by running more Anna Nicole coverage, more car chases, and more who-stole-the-white-baby stories than any other network.
They also lead the networks in their willingness to show borderline pornography in order to boost raitings. Go ahead, ask for the link. Fox News is low brow and down market. It's all about absurd graphics and ridiculous shouting matches, the "War on Christmas" etc. Too bad the other networks have copied some of the baser aspects of Fox by featuring gimmics like Dodd, Cafferty, Glenn Beck, Olberman, and Nancy Grace.
Hopefully the GOP will distance itslef from Fox as well, but it's not likely to happen. If the GOP distanced itself from CNN than their political suicide would pretty much be complete. They need CNN more than CNN needs them. |
|
Abject incompetence, yes. If these bloggers could discover this information—mostly from their YouTube profiles, not exactly heavy lifting—then CNN should have vetted the questioners better. With the possible exception of General Kerr, it doesn’t appear that the questioners made any attempt to hide their affiliation; they simply posted their questions, and CNN blithely selected them at face value.
Bad journalistic practices? Definitely yes. But does that negate the questions themselves? I don’t think so. The CNN/YouTube format closely parallels that of the traditional town-hall forum. For the most part, attendees do not get vetted at these events either, nor should they. After all, while a primary usually involves voters of one party, the entire nation has a stake in the selection of the nominees. If Hillary Clinton held a town hall in my community, I should have an opportunity to question her about her positions on issues without pledging a loyalty oath to do so.
***
CNN deserves the brickbats it will receive for its atrocious research skills. However, Republicans should be prepared to answer the questions the candidates received in this debate. At some point, this will cease being an intramural fight and we will have to convince all of America to vote for our nominee. That won’t happen if we can’t handle fastballs, with a couple of curveballs in the mix. |
|
|
What were the trick questions? Clearly it was wrong for the General to lie about his political affiliations, but his question was a legitimate one. Same for the others. Why the need to create this inane controversy over the partisanship of the questioners rather than focusing on the substance of the questions and the answers? Let me answer that for you: because you are ashamed of your own candidates and need to re-direct attention elsewhere. |
|
What I find interesting is that there is nothing -- zero, zilch, nada, bupkis -- on the CNN website about any of this. Interesting? Yes. Surprised? No
I am used to the MSM running news stories about the deer that got stuck in an office building, the 2 year old that's a wiz at trigonometry, the most recent homeless figures, how the economy's in the crapper, and how Iraq has not climbed up from the 7th level of Hell, yet.
I can deal with all those, even though they are not real news stories. I can deal with them because that's what I expect out of them.
But I also expect for them to cover a real story, like this one, every once in a while. This is a whistling past the graveyard, fingers in the ears shouting "I CAN'T HEAR YOU! LA LA LA LA...", ignoring the elephant in the room, plain as the nose on your face, kind of reaction on their site that even I can not comprehend.
You know what they have on the site about the debate: "Their questions, their take on the answers." A hard-hitting piece with some of the video creators about how they thought the GOP'ers answered their questions.
I fell bad for Anderson Cooper. I doubt he knew anything about it. He should be screaming at CNN's staff about how they are going to fix it and his reputation.
Most trusted network, indeed. |
|
"What will their excuse be now that they have gotten caught using Democratic plants for the Republican debate?"
It's evenhanded - CNN uses Democrat plant questions in both the Democrat debate and in the Republican debate. What could be fairer than that?
Democrats wet their pantsuits over appearing in a Fox debate. Since their unethical candidates are planing questions during the CNN Republican debate, who is going to ask them how they can presume to cast aspersion on Fox News? |
|
Corrupted Lamb, where's your sense of proportion? Clinton had an affair and he lied about it. The people who were most vigorous in "prosecuting" him for it were also known adulterers, i.e. Vitter and Hyde (R.I.P. Rep Hyde, we will always remember your ridiculous hypocrisy). Clinton didn't lie to an entire nation, just the perverted hypocrite creeps who wanted to waist tax dollar money looking into his sex life.
Cooper let a few vids from the other side of the aisle slip into to an open forum debate. So what? Where does it say anything about vids having to come from rabid gun nuts, Mexigrant bashers, and Bible beaters? Get a grip.
Also, I'll be the first to admit that SoyBomb is a lame nom de guerre, but what's with "Corrupted Lamb"? Is that some kind of wierd Larry Craig submissively-gay-but-repentent-and-guilty thing? You people need to lay off the gender identity confusion and guilt complexes. |
|
When CNN got caught using Democratic plants for the Dem debate, they claimed it was no big deal since the debate was for undecided Democrat voters.
What will their excuse be now that they have gotten caught using Democratic plants for the Republican debate? |
|
As Al Gore should have after Clinton lied to the entire nation. (mind you if he had, he would probably be president today!) The only way for him to redeem himself from this fiasco is to demand a public and detailed investigation leading to the termination of many of his crew, or to offer his resignation immediately if the investigation is not forthcoming.
If CNN can not stand the scrutiny, than he, as a serious news professional should not be able to stay.

format was all that bad (aside from the ridiculous singing at the beginning). I think there was some tough questions, most pointedly toward Romney, which was why Hugh will be in spin control all day. The fact is that Romney couldn't and wouldn't answer Gays in military, torture and a bevy of other questions. He sounded like a flip flopper. Tell everyone what they want to hear when in ear shot. Whether that is true or not it played into that perception that it is. Sad for Romney.
|
|
Despite the "plants" the debate was still informative in that it gave the rest of America some insight into who's running the GOP now - Bible freaks, gun nuts, and immigrant bashers. Under normal debate conditions these people would never get to ask their crazy questions, but these are the issues that truly matter to the GOP.
I think MH came out ahead. He looks friendly and sounds for the most part like a normal human being next to the rest of them, this will go a long way.
Briggsy, please don't mention John Howard again. His loss is an indicator of where the GOP is going to be in 08, and besides what happens overseas doesn't matter to us anyway. Who needs foreigners? Town Hall is sort of like a wilderness refuge, where an ever dwindling minority of crazed right wingers can gather to talk about which crazy GOP nominee is going to get the honor of being destroyed in 08. Please don't disturb this fragile ecosystem by bringing up what's actually going on on the outside. |

That venue was a slander both to Republicans, to their audience, and to the serious issues we face today. It was disrepectful, rude, unserious, childish, and self-destructive to the network itself. How hard is it to pull out 2 dozen serious, respectfully asked questions for Republican candidates for POTUS? How hard is it to background check? Calling the whole deal juvenile sums it up. Are there any adults at CNN? Why even ask. The answer is obvious. |

CNN - you can trust that it's laughingly incompetent when it's not being completely biased.
Barnum and Baily employs fewer circus clowns than CNN. |

My guy Rudy was really bad last night, but I thought Romney (although much better than Rudy), was thoroughly mediocre.
The whole night was an embarassment. Our party doesn't seem to have anyone running it for the good of the GOP brand.
And by the way, Hugh, since you have some power in the process, TELL RUDY AND ROMNEY TO QUIT GOING AFTER EACH OTHER. IT'S A TOTAL TURN-OFF. Actually, come to think of it, Fred, for the first time was appealing to me (he focused primarily on policy and vision).
Hugh, Romney is overly analytical, which explains why he's brilliant as a management consultant, and why he lacks the style and temperment (and vision) needed for an executive. This explains why he can successfully build Bain and save the Olympics, but probably can't lead the country.

He was unabashedly bigoted last night in the CNN pre-debate show when it came to discussing Mormonism not even trying to disguise his contempt. He is an embarrassment to news journalism, opinion, whatever you call what he does. I just don't understand why Mitt's Mormonism is a problem for old lefties while Harry Reid's faith never seems to be newsworthy. |

I like Anderson Cooper. I feel sad that he's being tarnished by his support (or lack-of-support) staff.
This kind of garbage was bound to eventually happen sometime after the pentagon papers and "All the President's Men" inspired a generation to change the world from the newsroom.
Now we're seeing the ripened-and-rotted fruit of the hijack (content filter and replace) of the old means of media.
However a new day has dawned. The old regime can no longer stand because there are too many alternate media outlet channels. It is a good day for America as the old MSM leftist do-gooder monopoly comes tumblin' down.
Or as someone once put it: for the MSM, "its a hard rain gonna fall."

"My guess is Huckabee did not have a problem with last nights format."
Why would he? Huckabee took underhanded softball pitches while some of the other candidates took fastballs to the head. They bloodied each other with policy debate while Huck sat unscathed on the sidelines, tossing out easy populist "feel good" nuggets ("I'll get rid of the IRS!") or preached about the Bible.
Back to CNN, the Bible question was particularly ridiculous, and CNN knew it when they chose it. I'd like to see something like that tossed at the Democratic candidates in their next debate. Of course it will never happen - the worthless questions they get are simply non-volatile "diamonds or pearls" fluff.
Here's my YouTube question for the next Obama v Hillary debate: "Bong or blunt?" |

Coming to view CNN as less than trustworthy only in 2005, Hugh, put you late. All viewers should have turned away from the network years earlier when it admitted -- in a New York Times op ed piece -- that it had taken Iraqi propaganda and fed it to its viewers instead of the truth of Saddam' regime just so it could maintain an office in Baghdad. And to compound that admission by going to another, more tolerant news outlet to do so rather than using it's own airtime should have been the capper for serious news watchers. CNN can't be trusted. Planted questions are minor issues compared with distortions of international proportion. |
|
Hugh, if you can get another 2 stories up on your page, you can knock Patrick's off. After all, cannot have anything anti-Romney on this site.
Keep up the good work! |

I agree, Hugh, I wouldn't want to be Anderson Cooper today. That was just plain embarrassing last night. |
|
For such a big proponent of the new media, it is surprising that you are so unwilling to embrace what took place last night. Last night was a wonderful oppportunity for ordinary Americans to participate in the electoral process. You obviously do not like the face of America Hugh. Or are you and your elite bretheren threatened by the emergence of a media you cannot control.
Last night was easily the most feisty and substantive debate. It reflected poorly on your candidate of choice who was out of his element when confronted with questions asked by ordinary Americans without the veneer that comes from inquiries by the MSM. Today, in the Intrade markets, your man has taken a precipitous dive. No wonder you are trying to distract everyone from the substance of what transpired. |

Ouch
Among Republicans in Iowa, 32% believe former Gov. Mike Huckabee won tonight's Republican debate; former Gov. Mitt Romney gets 16%, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani 12%, Sen. John McCain 10%, former Sen. Fred Thompson 7%, Rep. Ron Paul 6%.
Among Republicans in Florida, 44% believe Huckabee won the debate; Giuliani gets 18%, Romney 13%, McCain 10%, Thompson 5%.
