Mismanaging the Media?
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 2:19 PM
Like Karl Rove on the right, Kirsten Powers on the left argues that mismanagement of the media is the only Obama-related scandal pertaining to Rod Blagojevich.

As facts emerge, they may be right; that being said, it seems that faulty handling of the media in the early days of an administration is a pattern we saw in the Clinton White House that is now being repeated here.

If there is a systemic disadvantage for Democrats, it rests in the fact that their presidential nominees receive an easy ride from the press during the general election season.  Then, as they assume power, they expect the same treatment to continue, not realizing that the press has to write about something.

I've argued before that there's real reason to believe that the press won't ever really take on an Obama White House -- at least, not with anything approaching the vigor and ferocity that the Bushes and even Clintons (at last) faced.  That being so, it's a pretty remarkable show of ineptitude if the Obama team is mishandling the press and thereby drawing criticism from liberals like Powers.

Re-tooling history, are you?
WindowCleaner, Are you actually serious? BO won in spite of these associations, not because they were false. I credit him with running that good of a campaign, but don't cheapen his win by misleading even after it's over. Win gracefully and get on with supporting your guy (honestly)!

Ugh...
[I've argued before that there's real reason to believe that the press won't ever really take on an Obama White House -- at least, not with anything approaching the vigor and ferocity that the Bushes]

And yet how interesting it is that cable show upon cable show and every media outlet I've read (aside from blogs) is fixated on Blago and there's been nary a word at all about the Senate report on torture that implicates high-ranking members of the Executive branch.

Amazing how tough this media is on poor ol' G.W.

What can you expect from a liberal media
During the run for the Presidency, it was the Conservatives who kept making the same mistake time after time. The Conservatives thought just because they were attacking Obama the liberal media should be doing the same. Their frustration was noticeable on a daily bases how the MSM wasn't picking up on their attacks of Obama and passing them to the American people. No one could tell these Conservatives that your asking the liberal media to attack one of their own. These same Conservatives were also preaching to the liberal Democrats about Obama. Didn't it ever occur to these Conservatives that Obama is a liberal and your preaching to the liberals about Obama. As bad plans fail, no one mismanaged the liberal media more then the Conservatives.
