C'mon people...
Posted by: Jonathan Garthwaite at 6:38 PM
Everyone is having all kinds of fun talking about silly-ol' Huckabee apologizing for Bhutto's assassination, expressing "our sincere concern and apologies for what has happened in Pakistan."

Seriously foks, he's not showing remorse -- as if apologizing for some wrong the U.S. had committed.  He's expressing regret, sadness, concern, sorrow that such a tragedy has happened in a nation which is central in the war against terror.

Are people seriously suggesting Huckabee is some sort of Rosie-O'Donnell 9-11-was-an-inside-job-truther?  Nope -- just making political points out of a misspoken word following tragedy.

Huck--> Worse than Jimmy Carter, Clinton
Huck has an east west problem. At least Carter, Clinton know where Pakistan is on a map. Huck flubbed again on Morning Joe. So, C'mon Jonathan, Huck would make a great fixture on the view and then we can elect a real president.

This just shows
How at a loss Huck is when he can't fire off a one liner or a folksy analogy.Personally i don't think this gaffe is all that big a deal but there's just so many other reasons to dump Huck that this pales in comparison.Every day something else comes out about Huck that should make a conservative cringe. But I have never,NEVER seen anyone that can deflect a critisism or suspicious behavior like Huck. According to the Poltico today he took 35 grand from the pro embryonic stem cell research group. I know the Huck huggers have a cardboard response to this so it probably won't stick any more than all the other ethical lapses thrown at the Huckster.

What ordinary folks are thinking...
This here is arguably the best campaign video yet by a grassroots supporter:

Relax, you are taking this way too seriously.

I really was spoofing Fred's candidacy which is on life support-not his knowledge or opinion of Bhutto's death.

But thanks for the link. I did read it.

I agree like all the candidates, Fred has a knack for stating the obvious: the assassination is a sober reminder of the war we are in, the nature of the enemy we face, and the importance of Pakistinian stability, and the need for resolve on our part, etc.

BTW, Fred should have taken a dig at mitt instead of Huck, because Mitt is the one taking more of the conservative non evangelocal votes from Fred- plus Mitt has no more foreign policy experience than Huck. In fact, as a one term governor Mittprobably has even less FP experience.

JMO, happy New Year! :)

Cornpone, I think YOU were asleep...
...not to have heard or read the absolutely great response Fred Thompson gave to the assassination. Take a gander at this:

Fred probably was asleep
Does he even know yet?

I agree he's a good man, but he needs to retire and grow a vegetable garden or something else less physically taxing and snuggle up with his trophy wife-who btw, makes him look 20 years older than George Burns when she's photographed next to him. (I know, George Burns is dead. but he still probably looks healthier than Fred)

Fred's campaign should absolutely ban photographers and confiscate all cameras at Fred's rallies

Are you voting for a Conservative?
Mike Huckabee is as close to a snake-oil salesman as we could find in this day and age.

As I mentioned in another thread.... If you want a 50% Conservative and 50% Socialist, then by all means vote for Mike, Rudy, John, or Mitt!

Pastor Huckabee

Well, I just want to apologize to the world if Mike Huckabee ends up being the GOP nominee !

talisman writes: Thursday, December, 27, 2007 10:36 PM
Could Huck be on-target?
Huckabee was probably referring to the fact that Bush's policies led to this assassination. Bush pushed for Bhutto's return when it was ill-advised to do so, and because of it, she was in a terrible position.

Mike Huckabee wins. . .
Yes, by far, Mike Huckabee is a man of great integrity, knowledge, and depth of understanding "we the people." He will be a great President! Look for the truth about him.

HUCKABEE WINS NOMINATION & PRESIDENCY!!!
The Shift in Momentum IS FOR PRESIDENT HUCKABEE in 2008

Mike Huckabee is presidential material and is alone able to defeat Hillary & Obama. I am now convinced that those wealthier donors to Romney's, Giuliani's, and Thompson's campaign have wasted their money and if they continue, are wasting their hard earned money on candidates who do not have voter appeal or substance. As a member of the younger generation, I will tell you point blank, Romney, Giuliani, and Thompson DO NOT connect with us.

ROMENY has run out of gas. He has been the worst investment money could buy. His persecution complex makes him so defensive, weepy and wimpy that he cracks under pressure. His fake, calculated tears make him look like a BIG WEENIE before now Czar Putin in mother Russia and rest of the world. Romneys negative campaigning reveals his unprofessional desperation and that he is really an unkind angry old man. BOTH Romney's and Giuliani's flip flop past makes them a liability and not an asset for republicans in 2008.

Every time Huckabee is heard his approval amongst Republicans and Democrats increases even WITHOUT major financial support. He is the Republican's secret weapon in the 2008 election. Huckabee's proven leadership can help bring America together as a team.

Huckabee is the BEST candidate because he not only attracts republicans but also democrats to his side without compromising his principles. Both side support is needed to win this election in 2008 and he has it.

WHY HUCKABEE WINS THE NOMINATION and the PRESIDENCY

"Saw" him apologize
Sure, we can give Huck the benefit of the doubt, as much as people give Romney the benefit of the doubt on his use of the word "saw" when discussing his father. Apparently, he has to be taken literally at ALL times, so why not hold Huckabee to the same standard? He apologized, so obviously he believes that we were somehow at fault...logical right? lol
Pasadena Phil writes: Thursday, December, 27, 2007 7:36 PM
My first post at 11:20 am this morning
At Ruffini's post "National Security...." long before Huck made his astonishing gaffe:

Have We Heard From Huckleberry Yet?

"Is he going to tell us that this is what happens when we don't hug enough people?"

It's as if I put the psyche on him and he choked by apologizing. Ya gotta laff.

Con4fred writes: Thursday, December, 27, 2007 7:34 PM
Sorry Jonathan
I for one ain't buying it.

Huckabee would be a dangerous man to have in the White House, and most people know it.

If you want a strong Conservative leading this country, then vote for Fred!

The Great Communicator
Words matter - for 8 years we Republicans have had a good-hearted President, but not one that is effective at communicating to the masses. I for one will be voting for someone who can communicate and can communicate like he didn't just step out the barn and is ready fur a lil' ro'side chat (though that is closer to how I talk). So here is another reason I am NOT voting for Huckabee. And I'm not going to vote for McCain, Giuliani, Thompson, Hunter, Keyes, or Paul either.
DK Walser writes: Thursday, December, 27, 2007 7:03 PM
You're right!
It's almost as if people were making a big deal out of whether a candidate said he "saw" his father march with MLK rather than saying his father had marched in support of MLK. No one would ever, ever, play gotcha at the expense of substantive issues.

Jonathan
For a guy who is being hailed far and wide for his speaking skills, this is one big matza ball of a "misspeak". In fact, what it reveals is consistent to his recently expressed views on international relations (hugs and kisses). And this isn't the first time he gets caught not knowing a very important fact, like the fact that Musharaf lifted martial law two weeks ago. This guy is Jimmy Carter and there is no way around it.
