What is a "second rate college?" I invite you to look at just about any major problem this country has every had and you will find at least one, probably more, who graduated from an ivy league college/univ., deep in the management or planning. And you can start with Woodrow Wilson.
Ivy league types are folks feed off one another.
Sarah worked her way through college, except for a tiny scholarship she obtained by winning a beauty contest. She did some pretty hard work too -- she cleaned fish one year. I give her a Bravo Zulu for even finishing college considering the financial condition of her folks.
She had accomplished one heck of a lot in her live -- and did it all on her own.
Anybody who thinks she is not highly intelligent is pretty darned dumb.
Sarah is one of the few who ran for a national office that was rather poor. She and her husband has been pretty hard up at times, but they managed to build a nice house, mostly with their own hands.
Have you ever thought about the number of "nice" girls who have given birth to out-of-wedlock children? I don't recall the number but it is staggering. Girls and boys screw up when they move into the rubbing and purring mode and it happens in the best and worst of families.
My wife, who had never heard of Sarah Palin until she gave the speech at the republican convention, said she was going to have trouble with women. Her reasoning was that women always tried to find something wrong with beautiful women and while Sarah was not beautiful she was elegant. That, according to my wife, makes her even more of a target by other women -- particularly those who are less than attractive. My wife should know -- that has happened to her since she was a teen.

Me- I appreciate that sentiment, and I held it for many years myself. But you know what, Government under Republican Presidents has GROWN, not shrunk. It wasn't "efficient". it isn't even competant. (Hurricane Katrina).
The reality is that the GOP figured out a long time ago that people really do want more government, they just don't want to pay for it.
Personally, I'm not thrilled with the stimulus, but given how utterly the private sector has collapse, I don't see much of an alternative. Unless you consider soup lines to be an alternative, and I don't. I know if Obama hadn't bailed out Chrysler and GM, I might well be looking for a job right now.
You can scream "Soooooooocialism" all day, but the real problem is that for most of us, Capitalism has profoundly failed.

I did not exclude President Bush from being lumped in with other elitists. Fact is, he fits into the group rather well.
About the only difference is he does have a heart. He paid his laid-off employees out of his own pocket for several months when the bottom fell out of the oil market and he had to close his company, which was named Abode(?). That is contained in more than one book concerning Bush -- not fluff books either.
Bet you didn't know that Bush volunteered for Operation Palace Gate either -- two, maybe three times. Palace Gate was deployment of individual pilots of the Texas Air National Guard to Vietnam. On September 20 and 21, I attended services at the church Sarah Palin belonged to since she was an adolescent, the Wasilla Assembly of God. Though Palin officially left the church in 2002, she is listed on its website as "a friend," and spoke there as recently as June 8 of this year.
I went specifically to see a pastor visiting from Kiambu, Kenya named Thomas Muthee. Muthee gained fame within Pentecostal circles by claiming that he defeated a local witch, Mama Jane, in a great spiritual battle, thus liberating his town from sin and opening its people to the spirit of Jesus.
Muthee's mounting stardom took him to Wasilla Assembly of God in May, 2005, where he prayed over Palin and called upon Jesus to propel her into the governor's mansion -- and beyond. Muthee also implored Jesus to protect Palin from "the spirit of witchcraft." The video archive of that startling sermon was scrubbed from Wasilla Assembly of God's website, but now it has reappeared.

She was arrested around noon Thursday by troopers serving a search warrant in an undercover drug investigation. A standard press released issued by troopers said Johnston was arrested on six felony counts: second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance -- generally manufacturing or delivering drugs -- as well as fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession.
She was released on bail Thursday afternoon, just a few hours later.

The most famous case of course is her sister's ex-husband, Mike Wooten (an Alaskan state trooper). Palin's pursuit of him (and her husband Todd's pursuit) is somewhere north of abuse of power and just south of flat-out stalking; she and aides following her orders may actually face criminal prosecution for actions such as opening confidential Workers' Compensation files to use against him.
A bipartisan investigation issued a 263-page report - with a confidential 700 page appendix -- meticulously documenting how Palin and her husband abused power by using the governor's office to hound Wooten. 36 times, Palin, Todd or one of their staff members contacted the office of the chief State Trooper to express anger that Wooten was still employed. They even found out he was going to appear in costume as "Safety Bear" at the Alaska State Fair and got him removed. When a year and a half of this did not get Wooten fired (he was protected by a union), Sarah Palin fired Wooten's boss, and claimed Wooten was not the reason. (But when her staff called his successor, and then interviewed him, they asked about Wooten each time and didn't mention any of the other 262 troopers.)
Not surprisingly, chief trooper Monegan replied that Wooten had been investigated and punished, and you can't just go and punish somebody more for no reason besides the governor's husband's anger. Palin doesn't get that. For her, power means the power to get rich, punish your enemies and give high-paying government jobs to your friends. |
