Did you guys watch it? I missed it since I was at the convention, although it's on my Tivo at home. For those of you that saw it, what did you think? Obama said "it was great"and the New York Times said it was "civil, but thankfully not too civil."
Of course, this is only part one of four from the interview. The other segments will air Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Palin will be in a blackhawk within seconds heading to the disaster

Obama asked in the interview why no one talks about his attorney skills they only talk about his term as a community organizer, what ever that is. I don't think that Obama would like to go to the lawyer part of his life, all of the quick Chicago deal would surface and Rezko would pop up along with that whacko Father who squeezed out 18 million from the State of Illinois, lets face it Obama is a wantabee politician who know how to play people thanks be to Mayor Daley and the machine. I have never seen so many in his campaign lie so much. The man is corrupt. The left wing whiggers are in love with something and its hard for millions to figure out. The whiggers are looking for something for nothing, and Obama is promising it. |
I thought the interview was okay. Of course it is only part 1 in a 4 part series. I was not shocked or floored. I thought they both seemed themselves and neither impressed me. |
Let's see...O'Reilly conducts an interview with a man who aspires to lead the free world. Shouldn't the questions be pointed and direct without being a personal attack? Full disclosure - I have not watched the interview, but if he is true to form (my example is how he treated Hillary) then he was fair but firm.
As to SARAH, she is actually on the campaign trail with McCain, making herself fully available to the public. Too bad you can't appreciate that she appeals to a wide swath of America -- that bedrock of America's base that makes this country the envy of the world. Maybe you're just envious. |
As far as anyone can tell, the only mention in the entire GOP convention of any support for our troops now fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan was a shot of actors conducting a fake military funeral and a picture of a junior high school that has the same name as a military hospital.
Oh, and McCain was a POW. |
You can tell the story anyway you want to tell it.
One thing is certain, if Obama had his way you would be fighting fanatic jihadist on the streets in your hometown. The clown tried to stop the funding for the war and said over and over the surge will not work. He is insulting and that should wake the American people up as to what a total loser he really is.
National Security is not a game. It is not based on a points system, one time at being wrong and you could have millions of Americans laying dead. Obama needs to leave work such as this to men that have a vision of the future which he clearly does not have. |
Rude. Obama was predictably congenial and classy. O'Reilly asked tougher questions of Obama than he is inclined to of Republicans (surprise!) and Obama handled them perfectly. Aside from the asinine GOP-style RANCOR that O'Reilly can't keep under wraps, Obama made a clear case for why he is the right guy for the job.
Now, why not have McCain and Palin sit down with Keith Olbermann and see where that goes? Yeah, didn't think so. Chickens. Isn't Palin already in Alaska now, sequestered from the media because the Republicans are too scared to answer questions regarding what their party has done to this country for 8 LONG years? |
Of course, most viewers missed that, just seeing some lime jello behind McCain. But as distracting as it was, most people think--why is the background green?
But you enjoy those latest poll numbers. |
Barnett explains the RNC Bounce: Personally, I credit the green jell-o backdrop.
The Gallup tracking poll is in and like Rasmussen before it, Gallup is showing a big bounce for McCain. McCain is up three from yesterday, and now trails Obama by four points. More importantly, both polls consist of three day rolling averages. Only the final day in each poll was conducted after Sarah Palin’s speech, and McCain appears to have had a huge day on each.
Monday’s results will consist entirely of polling done after the RNC. If today’s results are any indication, Monday should show an even race. At worst.

As for O'Reilly, I have not seen it, yet I can picture it (both good and bad). Fox Guys like O'Reilly and Chris Wallace when they get a chance at a big Dem interview always treat them with kid gloves (rather different than how Wallace's old man and other MSM pundits treat Republicans--but of course there is no bias in the MSM). O'Reilly and Wallace know if they are the least bit tough they will never get another big Dem. Still, what I am hearing makes me think Obama stepped on a part of his own anatomy last night. |
"like wouldn't someone had dry run the slide presentation first to see what the backgrounds would look like on TV?"
Especially the one with the Walter Reed building to illustrate vet medical care. Unfortunately, it was Walter Reed Middle School in N. Hollywood. They did blank out the sign saying "Hey, you kids! Get off of my lawns!" |
I thought it was lacking but I am much more conservative than Bill. Here is what I sent him after the interview: Where are the follow questions? What about the first term senator's refusal to consider nuclear weapons (reported in the NY Times and ABC news on Aug 2 -3, 2007). "Obama told The Associated Press Thursday: "I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance." He then added: "Involving civilians." "
The main strength of nuclear weapons is threat that they might, God forbid, be used. He took that off the table and that endangers every American. That alone should disqualify him from being the President and you failed us all by not calling him on it. |
Obama voted against the surge. O'Reilly agreeded with Obama that Iraq was the "wrong war" So now admit that you made a mistake about the surge because it's working, said O'REILLY. Obama refused to do that. ...But isn't that what the left says about President Bush...he refuses to say that he was wrong. So do we really want 4 more years of an African-American Bush in the White House? I think not. |

I had the same reaction--like wouldn't someone had dry run the slide presentation first to see what the backgrounds would look like on TV? Nuts, but hey, mistakes happen. Fix them. With the nature of McCain's speech a completely neutral background would have been better (I mean come on he is on a stage that looks like the face dial of a Movado watch).
As for the O'Bama vs. O'Reilly, Fox must have run it early because I waited all night for it and it never came. I started watching just before McCain came on live. I am sure I can catch it tonight. But given McCain's ratings were so high and the only thing I am hearing that Obama praised the surge--I am not so sure that interview worked for him. Talking about "O", I don't think Oprah's dis of Gov. Palin is a very smart move either (both for herself and Obama). Expect the View to take advantage of that (and of course while the View is a fairly hostile venue, Ms. Hasselbeck will be there to fight back too). |
It is a clear choice to me, I will be voting for the American Team, McCain/Palin.
The other guy don't fit the mold of an American.
That was most excellent. :-)
...but I too thought Bill had an opportunity to nail him when he was saying that the Iraqis weren't stepping up. It was just a couple days ago the handover occurred in Anbar. Remember Anbar? That's the one that was unwinnable. Now they're walking around without helmets or weapons. Now THAT is change.... |
I'm not a big O'Reilly fan (I agree with Rush that Bill seems like Ted Baxter - a little superficial). However, I watched in on the Fox video website and Bill was what you would expect - Let's cut through the spin.
I don't like O'Reilly's super-ego, but I do love that look that he gives when He is talking a serial liar. You know that--C'mon man, you know that I know that you are lying through your teeth-look. He was the first interviewer who has given Obama one of those looks and it showed that Obama was not on his game.
O'Reilly really hit him squarely on the surge question, on the Pakistan question and on the Afghanistan question. The other parts will hopefully get better.
The one good thing is that it showed how Obama can't give a straight answer to any question which undermines his positions. We saw it when he was questioned by Pastor Rick Warren and now by O'Reilly.
How on earth does this guy expect to go head-to-head with Putin, the Tiger killer and Ahmadinejad, the Holocaust denier?
O'Reilly didn't let him get away with spinning answers. As usual, Obama ducted direct questions, trying to talk around the issue. Bill finally nailed him down on the "surge", and Obama reversed himself and finally admitted it was a huge success, but of course, had to add "the Iraqi's have failed to step up and take over". Obama is such a jerk. Iraq is now in charge of 13 of the 18 provinces. We have already pulled out of all but 5 provinces. The end is close.
