Palin Comparison
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 12:39 PM
If there's anyone out there who seriously believes that Barack Obama is more qualified than Sarah Palin to serve as President, Gerard Baker offers a side-by-side comparison that should convince anyone who's truly open-minded on the question.  One of my favorite parts at the piece's conclusion:

Gov Palin has never appeared on Meet the Press, never been on the cover of Newsweek. She presumably feels that, as a mother of five children married to a snowmobile champion, who also happens to be the first woman and the youngest person ever to be elected governor of her state, she has not really done enough yet to merit an autobiography.

Zing.

Palin's daughter is pregnant?
This can't be good. And I hear Senator McCain actually knew this fact when he spoke with her those two times before choosing to put her in the VP slot. So much for "putting the country first", right?

Palin is also being appropriately viewed as covering up for her daughter - or some other family member (son's girlfriend, perhaps?) who gave birth to her fifth child - because at 7 mos. pregnant, a woman who has given birth 4 times before does NOT look like Palin did at that point.

Someone is lying, and while their personal lives are just as private as Clinton's or Edwards', the issue comes back to LYING and deception.

Palin and McCain have much to lose here as abstinence only advocates and family values cheerleaders. This is much of what we've come to expect from our GOP leaders - cynical hypocrisy stemming from the hyper-critical judgement cast on others, but rarely practiced in their own circle.

Character matters
Political experience (from Baker's article):

Obama: Worked his way to the top by cultivating, pandering to and stroking the most powerful interest groups in the all-pervasive Chicago political machine, ensuring his views were aligned with the power brokers there.

Palin: Worked her way to the top by challenging, attacking and actively undermining the Republican party establishment in her native Alaska. She ran against incumbent Republicans as a candidate willing and able to clean the Augean Stables of her state's government.

Obama has never challenged his party. Never. He always makes the safe reasoned decision, provided you are comfortable with that decision being based on a very far left perspective.
