Back Prop 8, Lose Your Job
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 8:59 AM
Check out this blurb from the Sacramento Bee:
Gay and lesbian artists called Monday for an artistic and audience boycott of California Musical Theatre after learning that its artistic director donated $1,000 to a campaign that backed banning gay marriage in California.

Scott Eckern was not available for comment Monday as the revelation has gained stunning momentum on the blogosphere. The California Musical Theatre produces the Music Circus, presents Broadway Sacramento, and recently opened "Forever Plaid" at the capital's newest performing venue, the Cosmopolitan Cabaret.

Richard Lewis, the organization's executive producer, said the board of directors will conduct an emergency meeting on the matter this afternoon. He said it was too early to tell how this would affect Eckern's 25-year employment with California Musical Theatre

It's not just a bad idea, it's the law.
It's touching how Richard Lewis thinks it is "too early to tell" whether or not his organization will choose to obey Sections 1101(b) and 1102 of the California Labor Code (http://leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=lab&group=01001-02000&file=1101-1106). Do the rest of us get to pick and choose which laws we want to follow, as well, or is this one of those special rights reserved for special people doing really important things?

Persecution is wrong
This is wrong period and anyone arguing otherwise is an idiot or worse. No one should be persecuted in this country for their religious or political beliefs. This man didn't do anything wrong by contributing to a cause he believed in. I opposed Prop 8 and still think this is wrong.

Fine...
I will no longer go to the movies....too many sodomites in them and working on them;
I will not attend plays; I will not attend musical performance (other than Country); I will not watch Dancing with the Stars, figure skating, Home Shopping or the Bravo Channel.

Shouldn't be too tough....I don't do any of these things anyway. I encourage all to boycott anything to do with these backward (er....sorry) people.

We Californians
had better make our voices heard LOUD and CLEAR that the people have spoken and voted YES on Prop. 8.

These %$^!)@ gay activists. My radical leftist sister was elated after Obama won declaring that her faith in the democratic process was restored. And yet, she's all fired up about overturning Prop. 8 - she represents the height of hypocrisy among the left.

liberals - zero tolerance
Liberals are only "tolerant" of other liberals. They think it is ok to shove a gerbil up their a-s (have not even heard Peta come out against this), but God forbid you oppose Gay marriage or are pro-life.

If Scott Eckern loses his job it will be a clear 1st Amendment violation. These same liberals get all up in arms when someone who is fat is not hired at Hooters or to teach aerobics at a gym.

...WATCHING YOU!!!
Tiger184 writes: Wednesday, November, 12, 2008 10:02 AM
But...but..
..I thought the left liberals were the party of *tolerance*...

OHHHHHH! I get it!

Tolerance only applies to THEIR issues, feelings, political positions, ideas...

Like someone else mentioned, liberals are really getting brazen. Don't you dare have an idea or political position opposite them or they will try to destroy you and your life with scorched earth tactics. For years liberals have intimidated, insulted and forcefully tried to make the rest of the country not just accept but embrace their issues. I think people are finally getting sick of their insincere self-focused 'me-first' mentality.

I see now
Firing someone for speaking out against the Iraq War: BAD!

Firing someone for supporting Proposition 8: GOOD!

And the left wonders why we think they're hypocrites.

Yep, progress toward a society where if you don't like the 'progress' you had better shut up or get beaten.

I guess it is progress- progress on the way to a totally corrupt and immoral society where anything and everything goes. Yay!

Good
Good for them. Prop 8 is a joke, just like anti-integration folks were a joke back in the 60s. This is called progress people. Get on the train now or get on later; it's coming.

Time to stand up

Backers of Prop. 8 will need to get on the phone and make their opinion known to these people.

I guess it's a good idea to keep your contributions quiet these days. And how did his donation get leaked I wonder??
