McCain Press Conference At 9AM To Address NY Times Story
Posted by: Jonathan Garthwaite at 8:56 AM
"I'm very disappointed in the New York Times.  The story isn't true"
I'm struck by the sober atmosphere in the room, another candidate's wife having to stand by her man during a press conference, and lack of much indignation by Senator McCain.

Actually, for the first time in my memory I am sympathetic to the NYT. I just wish they had not sat on the story for 2 months. Just because the NYT is slime does not mean the story is not true.

Why did McCain hire Bob Bennett. If the story is not true, why does he need such massive legal firepower?

Exactly!
My thoughts exactly--McCain should be livid. Instead, he appears sedated. What is going on here??

NYT story
If the NYT cannot substantiate these allegations, it is time for Conservatives to act! I would suggest buying the paper, list it's main advertisers and write to them. Tell them you cannot help them perpetuate deliberate slander and boycott all retailers and products which advertise in the paper--the advertising revenues are, afterall, the enabler of the publication.

Perhaps McCain doesn't care
about the affair allegation. (You know how Rush says an affair is a resume enhancement for democrats.)

Who knows, his moderate and indie supporters may think this makes him look like he doesn't have one foot in the grave!

But the evidence for any wrongdoing is looking pretty thin. That's why McCain isn't outraged. It's all a bit ridiculous and transparent.

McCain doesn't do indignation
He only does "bland" and "vein-bulging rage".

What about McCain first wife?

McCain's lack of indignation
McCain has been told by his advisors to stay calm from what I heard. He will let his advisors do the yelling.

I heard the press conference. It is hard to beleive the NYT wrote this piece and then didn't even give it a real byline.

Also they said this has been investigated for months. An 8 year old story and this is all they got after 6 months and 4 researchers.

A joke.
