Lieberman Acts Honorably, Sensibly Thereby Alienating Democrat Activists
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 4:37 PM
Liebs:
"General Petraeus has served his country honorably and selflessly for over thirty-five years. He has risked his life in combat and accepted lengthy deployments away from his family to defend our nation and its citizens from its enemies. For this, he deserves the respect, admiration, and gratitude of every American -- not the disgraceful slander of Moveon.org," said the senator, an independent who caucuses with Senate Democrats. MoveOn.org has close ties to Democrats.

Lieberman, in fact, charged, "It has been widely reported that Moveon.org has worked closely over the past months with many members of the Democratic Party in coordinating their efforts to derail the strategy that General Petraeus has been leading in Iraq."

The senator said he did not know if Democratic leaders were consulted. "That is not the point," he said, "The point is that when partisan political attacks which have already divided and weakened our nation in many ways are directed at a non-partisan, non-political commander like General Petraeus, everyone has a responsibility to shout, 'Stop. Enough.'''
He's right. The very same people who put out and support this ad will continue to whine about the war and the terrorist threat being "politicized" by the Bush administration.

Lieberman For President, anyone?
As someone that would disagree with his politics, that is one person that I wouldn't mind on the other side of the ballot. I think the,I still believe large, group of sensible Democrates could get on board with him too. It is kind of odd hoping to draft an apponent, but I like the idea.

Good Observation TBone!
If all eyes are on the Middleast, who would notice an invasion from the South?....As American's closets fill with goods from China, the Globalists keep them focused on 3rd world gangsters with 200 man armies. Even the Insurance Industry would collapse without FEAR!

Lieberman is lost...
He has got to have ill feelings about the democrats... By his statements I commend him... He is still leaning left, but there is some move to the middle with this one... I believe the path that the democrats and this loony moveon.org folks are going, he might, might, might be switching sides... Would be a welcome sight in today's Washington politics...

On another note:

Immigration & Washington Politics!!!

I am tired of political correctness!!! I believe America is going down in 10 years unless we get a control on all Mexican immigrants, securing our border, an aggressive energy plan (building nuclear plats & refineries), profiling and deporting radical muslim and getting rid of the Black & Hispanic Caucus in our government... I thought we were all Americans, not racially motivated!!!

Any thoughts???

If Lieberman is so upset at "Move On"
If Lieberman is so upset at "Move On" type politics in his former party, he could throw a monkey wrench into the whole Shebang by simply announcing that he will now causus with the Republicans bringing the Senate back to a 50-50 split with Cheney the deciding Vote.

Lieberman is a "Neocon" riding
a donkey!......Nothing's changed......He does what "The Lobby" tells him to do, be it partisan or non-partisan.........He has no credability with any true conservative that understands his motive. The same for John McCain! All of "Scoop Jackson's" little fan club did not leave the Democratic Party.

Well...
I think 'non-partisan' and 'non-political' are a bit of a stretch. Senior military positions are the folks who directly deal with politicians and take their orders from a politician, so if Petraeus stayed completely free of political influence, it would be a miracle.

But I agree with the sentiment.

There's enough data out there to build a case with facts alone without resorting to ad hominem attacks.

Not that any of this mutual PR circus will change anyone's mind or our government's policies.
