A Sour Whiff of Victimhood
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 11:59 AM
Barack Obama is complaining about "the right" targeting his wife and is insisting that spouses should be off limits in the campaign because "they didn't sign up for this."

It's interesting that he'd do so given, as Amanda reports, that at least one of his surrogates has been attacking Cindy McCain.

Is anyone else beginning to sniff a sour whiff of victimhood?  Of course the campaign was legitimately upset about the New Yorker cover.  But from time to time, what with the relentless focus on "fighting" the "smears" (to a point where comics are afraid to joke about him) to the widely publicized self-flagellation about allowing his daughters to be interviewed, it does seem as though there's an element of self-serving sympathy mongering going on.

It's unbecoming.  Presidential politics is not a pursuit for the sensitive-minded or thin-skinned.

What's more, it's worth pointing out that Barack is actually wrong about whether candidates' spouses "sign up" for the rigors of a campaign.  They most certainly do (unless he's the biggest jerk in the world for running against his wife's deep and expressed wishes).  Children are the ones who don't -- and they are rightly left off-limits.

As long as Michelle Obama campaigns and acts as a surrogate on the trail -- not to mention providing interviews to kissy-kissy outlets like Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood -- she is fodder for commentary and, yes, even criticism.  Properly so.

Sounds like preemptive con whining
Attacking spouses lose votes in November. Clearly the cons are far more obsessed with Michelle Obama than the left is with Cindy McCain. Yes, I've heard about Cindy's drug past, her stealing from her own charity, her nearly $1 million credit card totals, her "can't get around Arizona without a small private plane" comment, but what I haven't heard is the MSM hit pieces on her on how her checkered past will haunt old man McCain in November. To the MSM, she's not a problem for the old man, but if Michelle Obama did or said any of the above, forget about it. We'd hear nothing but. All of this will fail for the cons unless they begin to campaign for McCain instead of against Obama.

sounds more like team Obama is
trying to ward off anything that may come down the pike regarding words Michelle has said in the past. Or possibly some interviews with people who have dealt with her in the past. There's a reason the GOP has been "soft" on Obama so far and I think it will come out if and when Obama actually gets the nod at the convention.

I don't mind waiting for the proverbial s*** to hit the fan when it comes to the Obamas. It's really rather amusing to sit and wait in anticipation especially in light of the antics of the Obamatrons on the web.

O doesn't get it, Michelle brought it on
Does Obama suffer illusions of grandeur or is he just delusive, in denial, or two faced with a split mind! I still give him credit for having the courage to fight for a chance to sit in the hot seat! Because being the leader of the free world is an overwhelming, difficult task and the President better know what he is doing, what's going on and how to control things?! He appears ignorant where his wife is concerned. Of course she should be challenged, in as much as she is campaigning for Obama; Michelle must be held accountable for her political words. Their attitudes prove, as did his 20 year relation-ship with the Rev. Wright, they are missing in discretion and understanding awareness!

The biggest thing
Obama has going for him is being a black man. You can't talk about it unless you are deemed a civil rights personality. That's bull and we all know it. Being black does not make him special. But it makes him bullet proof in the press and from those who disagree with the liberal, marxist ideas he spews and is thought to be a man of vision. Because socialists are careful how they come across to the public. Not Barrack Hussein Obama he has the audacity to to be a socialist pig and think he can change our beloved country into another China or Russia with him as the grand pooh baah.

yes, I believe you are right on this one, they (the Obamas) keep throwing pot shots at Mrs. McCain and they don't remember Mrs. Obamas words when she said she is never been proud of America, 600.00 rebate...wont even pay for a pair of earrings or comments about whitey...or any other offense...so if you have a glass ceiling don't cast stones would apply right?
In Mrs. Obama's case her ceiling is of Murano class the best in the world...oooopssss!!!
She is targetable...it's a fair game
Keith writes: Thursday, July, 17, 2008 12:59 PM
Okay, that is off topic.

ronnie ...
and as we all are told you liberals just hate hypocrisy ...

anything Cindy McCain says on the campaign trail is fair game ... just like Michelle's campaign speeches are fair game ...

Why is it liberals hate being quoted ?

Say what?
Obama said "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Gee sounds like the beginning of a secret police. Is this guy serious?

Let Him Waste His Time
Stop echoing Obama's nonsense about his wife. She's a hateful shrew, the makeover failed, let's move on.

Obama is wrong on energy, he's wrong on foreign and military affairs, he's wrong on judicial appointments, he's wrong on taxes, he's wrong on free trade, he's wrong on teachers' unions, he's wrong on abortion, he's wrong on gun control, he's wrong on general government programs, what else?

The point to make to independents is that these innumerable moves to the center are nothing but lies--he's hard left, first and last.

And now he wants a domestic security force at his disposal as president. Wake up!

Fodder for right wing lies
you guys will cry foul the moment anything is mentioned about Cindy McCains drug abuse....hypocrisy abounds.
Cuban Pete writes: Thursday, July, 17, 2008 12:36 PM
It's just more lefty hypocrisy...
...The prophet Hussein's wife went on a mission and botched it. In neo kommie world that means you attack your opponents who point out the blunder for attacking you and yours. Their attitude still remains "God Dam* America" - or those Americans who remind others of the prophet's and his kin's failings.

Spouses
Spouses to sign up for the campaign; and since Michelle Obama has given many speeches she is totally fair game.
