Extra Funding for Clunkers Faces Roadblocks in Senate
Posted by: Meredith Jessup at 3:45 PM
As the House voted quickly today to funnel an additional $2 billion of stimulus money into the stalled Cash for Clunkers program, Sen. John McCain said he will oppose any Senate move to consider the House bill--perhaps even a filibuster.  He noted earlier today, "I not only wouldn't vote for the extra two billion, I was opposed to the initial billion... We're now again bailing out the automobile corporations, two of which we own."

In addition, Democratic Sen. Diane Feinstein (CA), who introduced her own plans for a similar CfC program in January, released a joint statement with fellow Sen. Susan Collins (ME) last night, stating:
We will insist than any extension of the program requires that the minimum fuel economy improvement for newly purchased vehicles be at least two miles per gallon higher than it is under the enacted Clunkers program. It is also important to include lower-income consumers who are disadvantaged under the current program. So, we would also include a voucher for the purchase of fuel efficient used vehicles.
In addition to these bipartisan roadblocks for extra CfC funding, the Senate is approaching the August recess and still has to debate and vote on the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor.

"I want to know Who gave Obama and his administration the blank checks they have been using??"

I'd imagine they come from the Government Printing Office.

I want to know
Who gave Obama and his administration the blank checks they have been using?? All this program is doing is creating a bubble in the auto industry. I cannot help but believe the real premise of this program is to implement even more government control! You get rid of the cars they do NOT approve of and they put you into a car that they the govt think you should be driving. No thanks, I will keep my "Gas guzzler" and my freedom. Obama is not my daddy.

Take Heart, America...!
The seamless efficiency of the Kash for Klunkers Ponzi Scheme is just a microscopic taste of the Health Care Ponzi and the Cap & Tax Ponzi.

A comfort, huh..?

Plumber
No need to pay for that kind of disposal! The elderly and infirm will be happy to sacrifice themselves for the good of the collective, that's what they learned in their end of life counseling sessions.

Cash for Cripples
This was just a trial balloon. It's really all about healthcare.

Turn in your old and crippled, the govt will render them inoperable (kill them and turn them into something useful like soylent green), and will then give you $4,700 for your trouble.

PS: This idea came from a caller to the Beck show.

One billion in four days
Two billion in eight days?

I guess people like tax cuts, even if the govt tells them what it must be spent on.

Stupid government.

Fantastic Smooth Success of the Klunker
Ponzi is more than adequate proof that Gov't Health Care Grift would be a horrendous MISTAKE.
