Rove Resigns
Posted by: Patrick Ruffini at 9:30 AM
I'm sure there will be some amount of piling on Karl Rove and the President today. If that's what you're looking for from me, you'll be sorely disappointed. Today, my hat is off to Mr. Rove for six and a half years of dedicated service to the President he more than anyone was responsible for electing and then re-electing against the odds. Without him, it would have been President Al Gore on 9/11.

It's telling that none of the current candidates have a Karl Rove -- with the only possible exception being Hillary Clinton. And more telling still that in that case, his equal is a former President of the United States. It's no wonder the Clintons -- the most competent political team in this race -- are copying everything Rove built as fast as they can.

For those of us in politics, an operative like Karl Rove comes across once in a generation. The Reagan generation had Lee Atwater. And we had Rove. This is a rite of passage for the Bush White House and the generation of political workers that Rove taught.

And what of the permanent Republican majority Rove was supposed to build? That's on hold, overtaken by events, and specifically Iraq. It will be left to the next generation to build it.

I suspect that's for the best though. As conservatives, we should never rest on our laurels and our work should never be at an end point.

Karl Rove's only failing in my book
is his refusal to get the President to see the ENORMOUS problem of illegal immigration for what it really is.

Here we are, nearly 6 years after 9/11, and we can't control our own borders with "friendly" nations, much less those in Iraq and Afghanistan with Iran, Syria, and Turkey...

house of cards
after bribing lawmakers (maybe blackmailing) them to judge hte winner in a unamous vote (2000), the smut is finally catching up with the most unethical people in hx. some i know was a saint, compared to those at 16th & p now. not to worry, the majority of the voters were so angry at the past administration, that they would have let rattattooie run this country. remember, be careful what you vote for. things are not always greener on the other side of the field. good riddance, how many more rats will be jumping a sinking ship?

The Dems took congress because Rove...
... wanted the Dems to take congress.

First, they HAD to be the majority party for 2 years for all America to see what losers they are--Have y'all SEEN the approval ratings of congress? Ya can't hold the opposition party responsible if THEY AIN'T BEEN IN POWER. 'Course as you can plainly see- they're not really in power now (what with the veto and all). But come serious campaing time the GOP HAS to be able to point to all the damage the Dems did! Lettin' the Dems think they won somethin'for 2 years is a small price to pay to reposition'em.

And, more important- Rove (and Jorge) REALLY wanted to guarantee the continuation of illegal labor via immigration reform- and they needed a Dem majority to do it. They still can't BELIEVE they lost that one! Weren't Karl's fault though-silly conservative grassroots didn't go along with the plan!

Nope, Karl's plans worked out jus' like Karl wanted- except for those dang conservatives!

wo's next?
now that their bogeyman is gone, I wonder who the lefties will demonize next. Rove was the devil incarnate, it seems, so now that he's no longer a factor who will they blame for all the country's ills? I say they'll be back on Cheney within 48 hours. After all, Bush is too stupid to REALLY be in control. Any good liberals of the tinfoil brigade care to comment? Briggsy? Rae? Kimberlyric?

"As conservatives,..
we should never rest on our laurels" and allow the GOP to nominate a liberal for president. Conservative is not a brand to be redefined to suit whoever wants to win the conservative vote. There is an icky consideration called "issues" that comes with it.

Ummm
Pat, you seem to forget the past 2 1/2 years, which have been a disaster for Bush and Rove. The old adage, "What have you done for me, lately?" seems to hold true here. Check out Rove's predictions for the 2006 elections - he's got his finger on the pulse of the electorate lol...Oh, and what about that great immigration bill? That was pure genius !!

Good Riddance!!!
Attention sheeple--Karl Strangelove has left the building!!!! Normally I'd be dancing for joy in the street, but instead I feel depressed knowing that this devil has inflicted so much chaos and ruin on a great, God Fearing nation. His greatest accomplishment is turning a moron into a president!
