Reid Playing Politics with McCain and Bailout

Former president Bill Clinton said he believed John McCain was acting "in good faith" on the bailout plan, but Harry Reid sure doesn't seem to be.
I wrote a blog below about how he's trying to sneak in a ban on shale oil exploration. He's been hustling to distort McCain's position and work on the bailout as well.
Here's how I see it. First, Reid makes a big deal that McCain has to get Republicans on board for this thing.
So McCain makes the decision to go to Washington and do his job as a US Senator, maybe delay the debates a day or whatever it takes. Then Reid, Barack Obama and all his Democratic surrogates get mad that he's suspending his campaign to do the work. They say McCain can't multitask.
Meanwhile, Reid tells the press in no uncertain terms McCain is going to support the bailout. Not true, he's just coming back to work on it. That's not an endorsement for the thing.
Now, we're hearing from Chris Dodd that a deal is done. Republicans say it's not done yet.
Doesn't it seem like Reid's trying pretty hard to get McCain tangled up on this? Am I the only one seeing this?
Update: Ok, now I know I'm not crazy. Via the Politico, we learn Reid will not call ANY votes on Friday because he doesn't want McCain to have any "excuses" not to participate in the debate.
So, Reid says McCain's campaign was wrong to stop in order to advance the work of the Senate. Now, apparently, all the work of the 100-member US Senate must stop in order to advance 2 persons' presidential campaigns.

Obama said call me if you need me, did he forget who he works for? [ the American people ] Obama go do what your payed to do, the peoples business. |
|
Why is ACORN a corrupted organization, who Obama is associated with, getting 20% of the funds in this bailout, is this one of the reasons, why a agreement wasnt reached by the republicans I would like to know more about what the democrats want, and what the republican are looking for is, the best interest of the American people. |

HMMMMMMMMMMMm
Sounds like Bill Clinton is on the warpath against the MSM, the democrats and even the Obama campaign:

From Dumbya's speech, 15 October, 2002.
..."To open up the doors of homeownership there are some barriers, and I want to talk about four that need to be overcome. First, down payments. A lot of folks can’t make a down payment. They may be qualified. They may desire to buy a home, but they don’t have the money to make a down payment. I think if you were to talk to a lot of families that are desirous to have a home, they would tell you that the down payment is the hurdle that they can’t cross. And one way to address that is to have the federal government participate.
And so we’ve called upon Congress to set up what’s called the American Dream Down Payment Fund, which will provide financial grants to local governments to help first-time home buyers who qualify to make the down payment on their home. If a down payment is a problem, there’s a way we can address that. And when Congress funds the program, this should help 200,000 new families over the next five years become first-time home buyers."...

This has to be read to be believed. Where were the Republicans? Passing the American Dream Down Payment Fund on 16 December, 2003. No wonder some of us call them the "Stupid party".

the blame with this clown.
"The problem is we have what we call a homeownership gap in America. Three-quarters of Anglos own their homes, and yet less than 50 percent of African Americans and Hispanics own homes. That ownership gap signals that something might be wrong in the land of plenty. And we need to do something about it."

Bush said this back in June, 2002.
Like it or not, this is a bipartisan mess. There was Phil Gramm pushing the repeal of Glass-Steagall and to the partisans of the Stupid party it is all the fault of the Evil party. I blame both parties and the idiotic "party first" mentality that infests both of them. As long as the party "wins" to hell with everything else and that includes the nation. If any good comes out of this it will be the destruction of these evil and corrupt parties and the people who run them.
BTW, after Gramm left the senate he went right to work for UBS.

Right..... W and the GOP are blameless on this one.... It's all the big, bad Democrats aided by the "Liberal Media," right, Amanda?
Food for thought....
"I have great, great confidence in our capital markets and in our financial institutions. Our financial institutions, banks and investment banks, are strong. Our capital markets are resilient. They're efficient. They're flexible."
-- Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, March 16, 2008
"Our policy in this administration -- laws shouldn't bail out lenders, laws shouldn't help speculators."
-- President Bush, May 19, 2008
"Our economy has continued growing, consumers are spending, business are investing, exports continue increasing and American productivity remains strong. We can have confidence in the long-term foundation of our economy...I think the system basically is sound. I truly do."
-- President Bush, July 15, 2008
W's draft of the buyout deal includes this little gem:
"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."

I just sent an email to Sen. Reids office asking him to allow the vote to go forward. I don't know if it will do any good. Interesting though, there was a message on his site stating that he only responds to those from Nevada. As Senate Majority Leader what he does or does not do effects us all. Senator McCain's office replyed to me last week, and I don't live in Arizona. |

Former president Bill Clinton said he believed John McCain was acting "in good faith" on the bailout plan, but Harry Reid sure doesn't seem to be. Reid is a little RAT, and the others Schumer, Dodd, Barney F. Frank they are all guilty in this and Barry Bobo admitted to knowing about this! Mccain go to debate and let these weasels get out of this themselves. Republicans call your state senators and demand they stop this bailout, if they can't charge these criminals for breaking the law then don't ask the tax payors to pay for this.

Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, Murtha....Get 'em all out of Congress and then we move onto the B-listers. |
|
"Meanwhile, Reid tells the press in no uncertain terms McCain is going to support the bailout. Not true, he's just coming back to work on it. That's not an endorsement for the thing."
Perhaps, but I doubt it. While being a "war hero" and a "former pow", McCain is even more a loyal member of the Council on Foreign Relations and what the CFR wants, they get. He'll support the bill.
"Update: Ok, now I know I'm not crazy. Via the Politico, we learn Reid will not call ANY votes on Friday because he doesn't want McCain to have any "excuses" not to participate in the debate."
Big deal and in any event I would hope they wouldn't rush this thing through even if it is for the wrong reasons. |
|
|
McCain can tell the country the Democrats are holding up economic recovery in order to help Obama with the debate. If Harry Reid wants to play politics that way, he and his party can and should be held accountable. |
|
"Reid will not call ANY votes on Friday because he doesn't want McCain to have any "excuses" not to participate in the debate."
I think that should read..."Reid will not call ANY votes on Friday because he doesn't want McCain to have anything positive to take back to the debate". Pure politics from Reid as usual.
If a deal is worked out and Reid blocks a vote the President should go back on TV and tell the American public EXACTLY what is holding up the resolution to this crisis...and do it before Friday's debate.
