Coulter On Sotomayor: Clarence Thomas & Miguel Estrada's Backgrounds Didn't Impress Democrats. Were They Racists?
Posted by: Greg Hengler at 1:04 PM
I've never seen Carville so weak in a debate. His poor performance wrests more in his shallow Obama Administration talking points than in his skill. Obama and his media foot soldiers have been regurgitating the same rhetoric; putting all focus on Sotomayor's impressive academic and diverse personal background. Coulter points out the obvious: Thomas and Estrada had just as much of an impressive academic and diverse background, but they were vilified. Touche, Ann.

Ever since the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor, media figures like GMA's Diane Sawyer have been trying to pin conservatives in a corner -- oh so subtly -- in order to expose either Latino or female bigotry. The same tactic was used with President Barack Obama. Talking heads would say, "Putting politics aside, aren't you excited about the first black man running for President of the United States?" Well, Ann finally calls out Sawyer's intellectually bankrupt, liberally-based more than identity-based talking points. Let's hope Ann's perspective is contagious.

What she exposes!
My Heavens. Coulter makes James look like an ignorant fool. She is light years ahead of this poor man! She effectively reduces the liberal argument to what they represent. Racism and race baiting the politic for advantage.

Coulter made Carville look bad!
I think Ann can be a bit excessive, but when she puts the screws to Carville... I love it. Carville is Satan in the flesh.

Lonny: your 51 votes could be irrelevant
"51 votes: that's all we need."

Funny, that's all we needed too. How many times was that denied us over the last eight years?

No, what you actually need is at least one Republican on the Judiciary Committee to concur with you. If you do not get any, the nomination does not proceed to the floor -- ever.

Isn't it delicious when the shoe is on the other foot? I'd give good money to see the frustration on your face.

What?? Republicans not allowing an up-or-down vote on a judicial nominee?? Oh, the hypocrisy!

Which hypocrisy? Why, the one that has Democrats demanding an up-or-down vote on a judicial nominee, of course.

Don't expect us to be any more accommodating than you were ever again.

Sotomayor is a racist ding-dong who has contempt for the individual liberty promised to all Americans by the Constitution.

Private property is the foundation of all human rights. And we know what statists think of private property.

This woman is evil.

Carville living the dream.....
Looking like a true liberal....

Espousing about the great compellingness of a Nignog in the WH and a Latina woman.....how grand, it does the heart so good...its a true american dream.....

Estrada should have been confirmed to the Court of Appeals......although the libs and dems had the opportunity to feel good about putting a minority into that position.....they were scared to death of him....and showed it by letting their collective bile run down their legs.

Never let a liberal fool you as a doo gooder who wants rights and equality for all.......
Lonny writes: Wednesday, May, 27, 2009 2:47 PM
51 votes
that's all we need. Do you really think there will not be 51 votes for the first Hispanic female appointee?

"To Bork" was coined by bitter Republicans. Judge Bork had simply made up his mind on too many issues. Judge Sotomayor has not.

Spoils of the victory---Obama gets to pick because he won, bigtime. Next time, don't insist on such a purist ticket, conservatives. Elections do count.
taormina writes: Wednesday, May, 27, 2009 2:37 PM
No contest
This topic about Sotomayor's comment regarding a latina's decision over a white male is moot. Who cares in the end when we are comparing a woman's excellent judicial background? When you consider how much more this nominee brings with her in terms of experience, it reveals just how obviously political the choices of Estrada and Thomas really were - they don't even come close to her experience and background, even when one combines the two men together. This is a losing strategy for Republicans, and honestly, using Ann Coulter to make a point - any point - is a bad move.

Carville
First your white socks look very GQ , getting your fashion tips from the first lady I see. Great come back with the Alberto Gonzales remark. James looked alittle tentative facing ann. not his usual cockness, I guess he left it in his dark socks.
Charles Martel writes: Wednesday, May, 27, 2009 2:20 PM
the Democrats made "bork" a verb
If it's not enough that Obama's rationale for the nomination and Sotomayor's own statements necessarily entail violation of the judicial oath, if it's not enough that she intends to craft policy from the highest bench in the land in defiance of the Constitution, if it's not enough that she is a racist, then yes, this nomination will sail right through.

It is the sworn duty of the Republican minority on the Judiciary Committee to prevent this nomination from getting to the floor of the Senate. They have that power. For the next two years, it might be the only power they have. And right now is only the first of the many occasions on which they will be called upon to use it. As the Democrats repeatedly demonstrated over the previous eight years, there is nothing sacred about a judicial nomination.

To the Republicans on the Judiciaty Committee, I say this: if you're not going to use your power when preservation of the Republic requires it, then what good are you?

Coulter speaks to issues, Carville fails
This video clip demonstrates why Ann Coulter is one of the few conservatives that should allow themselves to book spots on MSM programs in order to present the conservative POV.

She answers the questions. She can marshal her ideas and does not falter.

Mr. Carville comes with his sycophants in tow and looks/listens for their approval as he plays the jester in lieu of being able to marshal and present any salient response to the topic or a specific question.

Ms. Coulter speaks as a lawyer before an appellate court. Mr. Carville was also present but has little presence. His slouch is indicative of his strength of presentation. The Alberto Gonzales and Rush Limbaugh invocations made Mr. Carville appear to be lightweight overwhelmed by Ms. Coulter's responses. He was frightened and overwhelmed by her.

Conservatives take note of Coulter. If you are not able to stay on point and take the argument to the opponent then you should not book time on the airwaves.

Good job Ann!

And you're right, Greg. Carville was particularily weak in his defense. It's like his heart wasn't in it.

Yeah, but Alberto Gonzales wasn't very good.

What a maroon.
vladimir estragon writes: Wednesday, May, 27, 2009 1:14 PM
Nope
"Thomas and Estrada had just as much of an impressive academic and diverse background."

But neither had anywhere near the judicial experience of Sotomayor. That was the key objection to Estrada, and SHOULD have been the main objection to Clarence Thomas.
John (-ny) 3:16 writes: Wednesday, May, 27, 2009 1:08 PM
Possibly
The possibly-human Coulter-geist might as well save her thunder.

Unless the freaks on the Right can find a secret tape of Sotomayor roughing up a Nun, this nominee is going to sail through.
