Hi kids! Welcome to politics in the real world. |
|
Sounds to me as if some college kids are getting an education at home during summer break. I've always suspected that the student movement consists of (1) flaky male students who grow up to be Alan Colmes, Keith Olbermann, and Lanny Davis; (2) the flaky feminists in training; and (3) the conservative males who go along for the ride just because their flaky feminist-in-training girlfriends insist that they go along.
You can't do much about groups 1 and 2 to the extent they're zealots. The third group and a handful of the first and second groups will be wising up in the next few months--especially after watching the national news a few times with mom and dad.
For my immediate family's part, we have four young person voters--all four in the McCain column (three in VA, one in OH)--and none of the adults had to "have the conversation" with them.
How's everyone else doing? |
|
We are seven for seven hardcore conservative kids in our family despite attending very public schools in SoCal.
Two in Texas, four in CA, one in NV.
Nope. No one had to talk to them. They were born smart.

Make that: very liberal public schools.
(And one a very liberal college: NYU Law School) |

It is you who is lying to the poor kids. The war may be nearly over. Mack's now got Obama parroting the same thing Mack's been saying all along: Stay as long as it takes. Withdraw when it's safe.
Whatever you think about the Iraq war, America needs a standing military. Currently we have a volunteers. But with the Left's disdain for the military, it just might be that people will feel stupid and quit volunteering. We are more likely to need a draft under Obama than McCain.
Smart kids know that Obama's tax plan will cripple an already fragile economy--just when smart kids are trying to get their careers going and buy houses.
Smart kids know that open borders cost more than the Iraq War. Smart kids know that open borders + free national health care will equal disaster, both for the budget and the quality of heath care. This comes just as they are in the midst of child-bearing and need good health care.
Smart kids know that floods of illegal alien children engulf the school systems and compromise education for their own children.
Smart kids know that Obama has no energy plan and refusing to drill will end in disaster. Viable alternatives to drilling are years away and pie in the sky.
Smart kids know that growing the dysfunctional nanny state can only hurt smart kids as they are forced to support
Smart kids know it's immoral for the government to tax the estates that they've seen their parents work (and pay taxes on) all their lives.
How stupid do you have to be to vote for Obama who will weaken the military, weaken the economy, weaken the health care delivery system, weaken border security and take half their inheritance?
Smart American kids looking for a bright future need to avoid Obama like the plague. |

As someone who actually knows what a hyperlink is, I can say that without a doubt that author is FAR, FAR left-wing. He's a disillusioned liberal who's upset that Obama has already abandoned the sort of "change" that he thought he would deliver. I do give him credit for actually paying attention to what Obama is saying and thinking critically, something Kimberly seems absolutely incapable of. |

Just Go Head And Say Everyone On This Blog Don't Like Or Care Mr.BO Is Because He's Not Light Enough Is That True? |

As one of the few liberals who post on this blog I would like to respond to your question. My not liking Obama has absolutely nothing to do with his race. Zilch, na da, nil. I couldn't give a toss if Mr. Obama was purple. What I do care about is his lack of experience both in the civilian world and in the world of government. I am also very suspicious of anyone who claims that they can single-handedly change Washington. I think it shows a bit of naiveté ( or maybe just saying it is politically smart, depends on your point of view I guess.) You know what they say about the person who protests the most? Usually they have something their hiding. This is how Obama makes me feel when I hear him go on about how he is a different kind of politician. At the pit of my stomach, I honestly do not believe him when he makes his promises. Why? Because he has nothing to back it up. Nothing that shows me that he has stuck his neck out and stood for something and actually made an accomplishment. I need more than just hope to rely on, I need action and evidence of tangible results. In my view the last week or two has proven what I've always suspected: Obama lacks a core, a moral compass by which he operates, at least in the political world. I'm wondering now if there is any issue that he stands firm on and will fight tooth and nail to support no matter the changing tide of opinion? Does he possess a political backbone? Or is it win at all costs? I think McCain trumps Obama in this area. I can find proof that Sen. McCain has stood resolute for what he believed in and took action on it. He has the record of tangible results that Obama lacks. I may not agree with his politics but I have immense respect for his character. So Willie, this is what matters to me and it is why I don't support Obama. Some voters are willing to throw caution to the wind, roll the dice as they say, that's fine for them but I don't have the stomach for it. |
