Americans Care About Health Care Half As Much As They Care About The Economy
Posted by: Jillian Bandes at 10:36 AM
That's from exit polls in Virginia and New Jersey. Here's Chris Stirewalt at The Examiner:
If a health plan were to pass that was even half as destructive to the job market as the one House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has proposed, an already anxious electorate would turn furious.

every day that passes
will make it harder for Obama/Pelosi/Reid to pass the healthcare monstrosity that they want.

Don't kid yourself. This group does not care what is important to the people. They care about power and nothing more. They will cram this through regardless of what the people think.

Huh?
"an already anxious electorate would turn furious."

Let's just disregard the many polls that show a majority wanting a national health care plan, and rely on EXIT POLLS in two states.

Remind me again, how much weight do you guys put in opinion polling? Don't tell me, I already know: if the polls support your point of view, they are proof of your wisdom. If they don't, they are proof of everybody else's stupidity.
Speedicut writes: Thursday, November, 05, 2009 11:00 AM
actually, vlad
it seems like we should stick with Rasmussen's polls as they are accurate. Frank Luntz does a nice job with his focus groups too.

"it seems like we should stick with Rasmussen's polls as they are accurate."

Oh, now this is REALLY getting good. What are the criteria by which we judge the "accuracy" of a public opinion poll?

Rasmussen nailed
The last two elections.

the folks
did indeed vote for "free" healthcare as well as hopenchange. However, they did not think about the details in all their euphoria. Now they find out the cost, including waiting in line for a strange doctor and they have changed their minds. It happens. PL and yourself are still living in January 2009. The folks don't want this ball of confusion. The dem/libs may cram it down but they're already starting to pay now. Wonder if their bluedoggies will fetch?

you reject polls that say people want us out of Iraq (to which Cheney said 'so?'), and favor gun control, yet you want polls to run everything you agree with?

We're going to have a health care bill whether the GOP likes it or not.

i think you're confusing yourself about Iraq. Half of America wants out period. The other half want out (Afghanistan too) IF we're not going to try and win. If America could get rid of dem/libs then, of course, we could win in a matter of months anywhere in the world.

As to the gun control - I don't believe you at all.

Somewhat off topic . . .
From the Navy Times:

"Ships stationed in Hampton Roads, Va., have become so starved for cash that sailors have taken to buying supplies and equipment with their own money — or they’re just not getting the gear they need to do their jobs — according to a Navy report.

A Navy Investigator General’s report from this spring described one ship, which was not named, with a $1 million supply shortfall.

“Sailors of all ranks, including the supply officer, are buying supplies out of pocket to meet operational and certification requirements,” the report said."

Same thing happened during Carter's administration! (Can't say about Clinton's -- wasn't in the Navy then.)

A banner on Fox News reported last night:

75 percent of those of military age are unqualified for military service due: obese, can't pass entrance exams, not enough education and medical and morale problems,

We're in BIG trouble, Buccaneer!

I'm in the Bay Area and a construction
project supervisor from North Dakota said that he was getting very close to telling his wife who loves San Francisco that she can stay and lose him or leave. He is so furious and sees a civil war coming.

He is not the sole voice saying this. They cannot put gun control or fairness doctrine through fast enough to stem the tide of fury that is starting to come over all citizens in this country...excepting the few who think in the same elitist or entitled way as our Botox salope speaker

New Jersey & Virginia were referendums on The Bamma's first 9-months of rule: Baa-Daa-Bing.

if there were a draft
we would have been out of Iraq years ago.

Yeah, let's send troops for multiple deployments. Take advantage of people who joined because they had no other alternatives. And let's reinstate the draft (my son can't serve, DADT, all that, you know).

And, to the doofus who says a civil war is coming, go to SF, come to LA, go to NYC, see how normal people just go about their days. Days that don't include Rush, Sean or Glenn. Amazing how there is no paranoia there.

Most people hate guns. You would ignore any poll that said so because you love guns and violence.

focus. focus.

Are you SURE they don't tell the men and women who join the military that they may get shot at one day? I'm pretty sure the recruits are aware of that possibility.

As for civil war, it did happen once and it does seem more and more like we all don't live in the same country if you listen to descriptions on each side. I've modestly proposed that you anti-American dem/libs can have the Left side of the country and we normal people will take the right side. We'll trade you Ohio for Texas. Win-win all the way around, no? Our posterity will be secure even though our interior designing will suffer.

Simply show me a legitimate poll that backs up your opinion on gun control and I'll believe you.

You've been told many times of the high quality of folks in the military, so it is evident that you have a serious problem.

Your son can't serve? GOOD!

Iraq Was a Huge Victory...
No wonder The One ignores it as if it's a discomforting embarrassment. The men who helped bring a victory to that country, now breathing free and not filling mass death pits and rape rooms, are kept cooling their heels whilst The Bamma fiddles and procrastinates deciding on another big win in Afghanistan.

What a Man. NOT.

Antecdotately, from what I read so far I will most likely not hire back laid off employees? It'll be getting too expensive. Piecemeal 1099ers at best (if the economy ever gets to that).

So what is the incentive? Killing the spirit of the ambitous to spread the wealth to the lazy is no way to run a country...unless you're going for Banana Republic.
Speedicut writes: Thursday, November, 05, 2009 1:00 PM
Vlad, I'll be more specific
Rasmussen was almost EXACTLY ON THE NUMBERS, goof. I don't mean "Well Ah think Obama's a gonna win". I guess Bob the Niggler is busy today so you took his place?

Like you would let your son serve. Kadoom, you and hubby were Vietnam protestors. Why would you let your kids, even if they turned out to be straight. He has been programmed since birth not to. Seen it in other lib families, military is a four letter word at home.

"Rasmussen was almost EXACTLY ON THE NUMBERS, goof."

In what, the 2008 election? Yep, they were. So what? Are you saying they were exactly on the numbers in Virginia, New Jersey, and NY-23? I read the polls when they come out, but don't make a point of seeking out specific ones.

More to the point, do you believe that exit polls in two states indicate that people will be "furious" if health care plan is passed (as it will be)?

"Killing the spirit of the ambitous to spread the wealth to the lazy is no way to run a country."

Sounds good, but why are you telling me that in a thread about exit polls in the 200 elections?

"Kadoom, you and hubby were Vietnam protestors. Why would you let your kids, even if they turned out to be straight. He has been programmed since birth not to. Seen it in other lib families, military is a four letter word at home."

I was a Vietnam protestor, and my son is serving in the Marines right now. Was in Afghanistan last year.

Does that give me blanket permission to insult all conservatives?

Exit Polls about economy and jobs vs Health reform. The dots are connected. My story is one of thousands. The Dem plan will kill jobs. Is that a little more clear.

And unles you're an LA Liberal, Kadooms comments don't apply to you. As FLW once said, Its as if the country was turned on its side, and everything loose fell into California.

Enough said.
Speedicut writes: Thursday, November, 05, 2009 1:43 PM
don't lose credibility, Vlad
Your argument, and PL's, is that since Obama won, the American people DEMAND the healthcare package that the Dem/libs are cramming down on. I say, "nay" (since everyone woke up and smelled the strange, unqualified physicians).

Rasmussen is the most accurate poll and you claimed we should nae believe any polls. You are wrong again.

And since I pointed out that Rasmussen was right about Obama AND the Gov races etc, you have no where else to go.

Admit that you're wrong about at least one pollster. Admit that you're wrong about the American people demanding THIS healthcare change.

sceptyczny writes: Thursday, November, 05, 2009 2:26 PM
because they think corporate
profit is more important than their country? Very shortsighted, and very selfish.

Don't start in on unions and all that rot. People who are not working or who don't earn living wages cannot afford to buy the products these companies make.

This has been going on for some time. We need protective tariffs and high taxes on companies that manufacture goods for US consumption outside the USA.
