Thomas Nelson has just released a paperback edition of my book, Christian Ambition: Using Career, Politics, and Culture to Influence The World.
It is, at this hour, #358,200 in Books at Amazon.com, only 357,145 places behind Mark Steyn's America Alone.
If Mark's vision is clear --and there are many compelling reasons to believe it is-- my paperback won't be of much use in Europe, 2040.

Neat--I'll have to get that as I approach tenure as a Professor in English Literature.
It's always important to use your Christian walk as a way to better your vocation, and to make the lives you touch that much better.
God bless you Hugh :) |

Is this book a re-release of the original title "In, But Not Of"?
Used that one in a Bible college course on American Federal Government. Prompted some good discussion.

At this late hour, 10:30 PM PST on December 7, 2006, Hugh's book has achieved an Amazon Sales Rank of 29,833, just 29,788 slots behind Mark Steyn!
By my quick calculations (search "Political Calculations" and "Converting Amazon Ranks to Book Sales"), while Mark's book is selling at a rate of 595 copies per day, Hugh's is selling 14 per day, but, er, ummm, with a rocket! |

Haven't read Nelson's...but reading America Alone now...good book..very interesting take. |

The influence of a christian in a fallen world can only be obtained by Christ's working within you as revealed by the Holy Spirit. It is more important to share the gospel as that will change the heart than trying to change another's political affiliation. It is also important that "no consensus" is allowed in the truth of the gospel and all of God's WOrd. We recognize the sham of consensus thinking in the real world yet in the truth of God's Word we rarely take a strong stand. Hugh seems to think Mormons are christians when they're clearly not...and lauds the accomplished works of RIck Warren when they have absolutely no basis in true christianity. Hugh, you can't turn christianity into politics but certainly Christ has the power to change the heart and in so doing, one individual at a time recognizes the best candidate who may atleast support the values that reflect a Godly Nation.
PS. Did you hear about the letter Romney wrote in support of the homosexual agenda? Romney said he would be a stronger advocate for homosexuals than Kennedy? Again, if one can't trust ROmney in basis agendas that will serve only to destroy the family, the basis for western civilization, how could anyone trust him with any other issue. He is all about political expediency. |
