Hillary Wins
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 10:20 PM
With what looks like a convincing win for Hillary, there are danger signs that should be making Democrats plenty nervous.

What is the problem that Barack can't win despite having the momentum that a frontrunner enjoys, outspending Hillary 2:1, and enjoying very favorable press?  And what does it portend for November?

No doubt those who voted for Hillary over Barack will be implicitly characterized by some as racist.  Interestingly, on CNN, Bill Schneider was talking about white men "voting for race over gender" (or words to that effect) --  as though identity politics were the only rationale for a ballot.

But the good people of Pennsylvania may have realized, as last week's debate and the "bitter" comments have highlighted, that there is much that the country has yet to learn about Barack Obama -- and they may be reluctant to take a gamble on an aloof candidate about whom so much remains unknown . . . especially when what's coming to light raises some legitimate and troubling questions.

Danger Signs?
Those aren't danger signs. It is the realization of Democratic Party leaders that neither of their candidates are likely to be able to win in November. The train wreck is coming and it has been obvious since February's Super Tuesday.

Pass the popcorn.

Carol, you typical white person you!
Why should Obama have to answer questions about his close friends and associates when he has grand ideas about health care, Iraq, Afghanistan and global warming to discuss? It seems like typical white people need to know too much about Obama's friends and family, without qualification. Seriously, Obama is past claiming race politics. The man is raising the most money, has been endorsed by Caroline Kennedy and has Kennedy's and Oprah campaigning for him. Even Abercrombie and Fitch wearing frat boys are in his corner - how much racism can there be? You are right about one thing, AMERICANS DO NOT TRUST BHO, AND THE MORE AMERICANS KNOW HIM, THE MORE HE LOOSES THEIR TRUST. At best, Obama is the most inexperienced, foreign-influenced man to run for president and his associates prove it.

I believe it will be

Clinton-Obama in the fall. Clinton has the best chance of beating McCain and Obama must be on the ticket to pacify the far left and the black wings of the Dems.

The Dem leadership will eventually come to realize this and before the convention it will all be worked out. They must do this to prevent the splintering of the Dem coalitions.

Obama will go along because he will realize the wisdom of it. Also, as VP he is set up in the Dem party as a leader for the long haul, as well as being part of history.

Clinton-Obama will present McCain the greatest challenge and consequently who McCain picks for VP will be more important than usual. It will be vital that McCain pick a VP that will energize the right wing of the GOP with whom McCain is weak. McCain himself appeals strongly to the left wing of the GOP and the Reagan Democrats. It should be a real donnybrook this fall. The November results will be 50-49, but I cannot predict who will have the 50.
