Obama and Fox News: Together Again?

As Meredith Jessup wrote last night, President Obama is planning to do an interview with Fox News' Major Garrett. Although this seems like a direct break in the administration's feud with the Fox News network, it is not a surprising development. It fits in perfectly with the private White House strategy reported in a Washington Post article that I blogged about last month.
The White House strategy, according to the Post, was to have Dunn (who was supposed to be at the White House short-term) directly attack Fox and then her departure "potentially gave the administration the opportunity to distance itself from the flap with the Roger Ailes-led news channel..." It was only a few days ago that it was announced that Dunn would be leaving the White House at the end of November. Now that Dunn is definitely out, the White House is more than eager to do an interview with Fox News, which could help end the feud and the discussion about it in the media.
The interview with Major Garrett will definitely be an interesing one. With major health care reform in the Congress and the American people still waiting on a decision about Afghanistan from the Commander in Chief, there are a lot of topics that Garrett should ask about in his alloted time.
Garrett should also make sure to ask President Obama about the White House's strategy to attack the news network so directly while so many other pressing issues (including the high unemployment numbers) across this country did not garner the sort of attention they deserved.

Now that would be funny. First he could ask about health care and show the video where Obama said he would like single payer government health care. Then he could ask him about Afghanistan and show a video about Afghanistan where Obama claimed it was the "right war" and he was going to get right on that one. Next he could show Obama pledging to uphold the constitution and play the clip where Obama claims the constitution is a flawed document. He could end with the clip of Obama just today claiming that his stimulus saved or created 1 million jobs and then show all the jobs that actually have not been created like the figures coming out of Massachusetts that are so erroneous. By the end of the show it would not be Beck that would be crying this time but I can see Obama crying like a baby. |

Glen Beck is the only guy for the job. Not trying to short Major Garrett but Major does have to deal with Obama's version of Howdy Dudy, i.e. Robert Gibbs. Also, Glen doesn't consider himself a journalist which is perfect, he's an american like us not bound by journalistic protocols, if any exist anymore. I would love to hear him ask about his socialist background accompanied by videos he plays on his show. |

You actually said the words obama and" alpha male boxing gloves just like Axelrod said he would.
If obama is an alpha male, Val you were homecoming queen twice, snicker. isn't it great to see Rachel the Rash back on site? I look forward to her demented azzz getting tossed again. |

rhetorical. The WH's strategy was to distract from the healthcost bill. Always keep that in mind. Watch for distractions.
Like NY changing its constitution to allow prisoners furlough to work for ACORN in the last election. |
|
A lot of us share your sentiments, but have heart, 'the one' is guaranteed to open mouth and insert foot. Off telepromter, he's more bidenesque than biden himself.
I plan on watching the interview with a counter so I can click off every time bozo says "ahhh". |

That would be great but won't happen. It is funny that Obama now wants to be interviewed by a network that he claimed was not news. Well we all know who looks like a fool in the end here and it is not Fox. |
|

you all make comments about questions and who should deliver them, I say how about FOX SAYS NO THANKS MR PRESIDENT, WE ARENT INTERESTED IN GIVING YOU A PLATFORM FOR MORE LIES, and since we arent a REAL NEWS NETWORK, you dont need us , you merely want to use us, so , NO THANKS SELL IT TO MSNBC, they will buy you garbage!!!!!! |
|
man for the job. He has the cajones to ask Obamao the tough questions most others are afraid to ask; he is the only one who isn't afraid to call a spade a spade (his words) and no pun intended. He lays his cards on the table and doesn't take lip service from anyone. I am so grateful that Glen isn't just another a-s-s kisser who doesn't want to make waves with a liberal guest because he's afraid he might lose ratings, such as the smug, arrogant know it all, Bill O'reilly.
Glen would do the best job of anyone else because he would be fair with his questions, but he would not molly coddle Obama or anyone else and wold ask the toughest questions Obamao has ever been asked. He is the real deal. |

help FoxNews lose even more credibility by following the advice of the minions. Yes, Mr. President - draw attention to the cable network that works 24/7 to undermine your leadership and then whines about being called out for what is obviously true. We will enjoy watching as this network dissembles and wheedles its way towards complete self-implosion.
By the way, it'll be interesting to see if the birther network spends any time haranguing Obama about his birth certificate, while the network maven who runs the hysterically 'patriotic' vessel is openly not a citizen of the US. |
|
I'm surprised the WH didn't insist on Shepard Smith doing the interview. In any case, Obama will get mainly softball questions and they have so much time to prepare for the interview it will be more a social piece than anything substantive.
Obama wants an interview on FOX because it by far has the largest audience and this fits right into a narcissist's agenda - on television during prime time lying to a large audience pushing Obama/Pelosi health care. Maybe after this very important interview he will find time to make a decision regarding Afghanistan. |

Nice to see you hear in the AM. No Obama now knows that his dissing Fox did nothing but raise their ratings. The clown in chief some how thought he was so adored that bad mouthing Fox would make them lose some of their audience. A little wake up call for the clown. He ain't so popular any more. In fact I bet his ratings are slipping as we post. |

"The White House strategy, according to the Post, was to have Dunn (who was supposed to be at the White House short-term) directly attack Fox and then her departure "potentially gave the administration the opportunity to distance itself from the flap..."
I don't see the point. Why have an underling pick a childish fight with a major news outlet, then sack her and make peace? What was gained?
It really sounds like Obama spazzed out because Fox isn't cheerleading for him, it backfired, and now he's using this opportunity to kiss and make up. But I can't see why he would plan it this way. |
|
"This transformation of America thing, how's it coming along? Any bumps in the road? Tea Party people can be a real pain, right? Us pesky FOX News folks, too, right? And how 'bout the American people? They have repeatedly told you to stick your socialist, dopey health care plan where the sun don't shine. But you don't seem to care.
How come?" |
|
Oblahblah is all but vanquished. He just wants to be seen on a NEWS channel that actually has some viewers. He's so narcissistic that he'll venture into "Injun Country" just to get his smug mug in front of a camera.
I'll bet he gets a more fair shake than Sarah Palin did.

First as Michele Malkin has pointed out Ms. Dunn is leaving right on schedule and not under some bus.
Second this is no peace offering-Wallace was snubbed again and Obama will go on with his alpha male boxing gloves just like Axelrod said he would.
And lastly when you throw in the the Pplitioc report that says the white house denies any secret meeting with fox and fox won't comment?
Hmmmmmm.
It would seem Obama will not be going onfox to appologize but rather to continue to call them out on their own turf.
Count on it. |
