The Word is Unconventional
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 9:11 AM

A year ago, few would have predicted a Republican ticket that including maverick John McCain AND an attractive female conservative governor who has stood up to the Republicans in her state?

*** Republicans would have the only female and the only governor in the presidential race.

If you had to imagine a ticket that could possibly defeat Obama, you couldn't have scripted it any better than this ...

... TH Intern Adam Brickley is the man today.  He is fielding lots of inquiries about his blog, Draft Sarah Palin

Update:  The downside, says the hand-wringing folks at MSNBC, is ...

1).  The trickery that has been used to keep the media on tenterhooks has also meant that the other possible veep picks have been used or led-on.  Is it wise to risk offending so many of your allies?

2).  If the McCain campaign has truly waited until the last minute to make their pick, do they risk having a candidate who will be unprepared to make a good impression?  Could Palin give a good speech in Dayton today?  And because she hasn't been seriously floated to the media (sure, she's been mentioned -- but not seriously floated), do they risk picking someone who hasn't been vetted by the media (think Dan Quayle)?

You tinpot god SPENT a total of 140 days give or take a day or two actually WORKING in the United State Senate..the job he was PAID to do. He's
been running for POTUS for nearly TWO years..

That dog doesn't hunt sir!!!!!

Sarah Palin is the lib/left/progressive/commie/
thug/baby killers WORST nightmare.
There are a lot of knickers in a twist over in the DemonRat ranks as well as their media stooges. Deal with it!!!! This is going to be fun, the DemonRats are durned if they do and durned if they don't. Saddleback had me leaning, and after watching her speech sans a teleprompter with no er's, arh's, ah's, urks, iks, nose clearing; I was impressed. Only heard her name, nothing more but she pushed me over
into the McC slot. I know he's got a lot of
warts but, with all of them, as Sarah said,
I want someone that make sure my grandson has all the help and support he needs when he deploys next year.

This from someone who would vote for Obama even if Obama had a bloody scalpul and a dead baby in his hands.

Sarah Mom
I usually do not post any comments, but the very idea that Mrs. Palin would neglect her new child has got me steaming. (I know it is another blog)
Anyway it seems like the VP choice my Sen McCain has a lot of blood boiling, especially the MSM and the DNC.
But! Guess what Sarah will probably be the
first lady / female POTUS.
Barry O can always run again in the not to distant future.

Biden, Obama and McPain. Whether she can stand up to the scrunity and falsehoods that will be coming from the leftist media and democracts remains to be seen. At least she's not a retread. It will be interesting to see whether McPain will come around to drilling in Anwar with Palin as V.P.

I like the choice.
She is Conservative, Pro-life, Pro-family, Fiscally conservative, Pro-2nd Amendment. She seems to have backbone.

I am anxious to learn more about what she has done in Alaska.

I wonder is she has any problem beating the envirowackos with a moose antler?

Go, Sarah!
It's not the media's job to vet anyone; they are incapable of even reporting simple news. Palin will be torn to pieces, however, by the liberals. She looks good, unlike the dyke-looking demoRat women. She acts like a real person, instead of a media creation. And, best of all, she didn't get to the top because of her husband or because she went to an Ivy League school. We will find out if she is tough enough... Go Sarah!
geek45 writes: Friday, August, 29, 2008 2:42 PM
Biden v. Palin
Biden has just been de-fanged.

If Biden gets tough with Palin, it will be seen as a thug (which he is) beating up on a beautiful woman (which she is).

I am reminded of the scene from one of the '30s gangster movies where Cagney pushes a grapefruit into a womans face.

BTW: Palin has more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined.

A MIRACLE HAS HAPPENED !!! SARAH PALIN.

Sarah Palin is everything that a V.P. nominee should be and she has everything that a V.P. nominee should have.

She is a member of Assemblies of God church which is the same church my wifes family belongs to in Ohio. I know that if she is a member of this denomination the chances are good that she has her Christian Core beliefs together and I feel that God has sent America a sign that its ok to be a Republican again and that there is Hope afterall. But this Hope unlike Obama's Hope or Bill Clinton's Hope...comes from above.

The base will now rally behind McCain and support the ticket. Sarah Palin brings everything to the Ticket that McCain and even
Obama cannot or will not.

Congratulations Sarah...God be with you!!

Congratulations John McCain on the smartest thing you have ever done for America !!

Palin makes Biden pale
Sarah Palin brings so much to the table that the simple meal of politics has become a feast. She has more real experience than Obama actually running a state and after almost 2 years earning an approval rating over 80%. She also has a record of standing up to power whether it comes in the form of big oil or fellow Republicans. I loved her response to "the bridge to nowhere". I look forward to learning more about her and I am prepared to be amazed.

ABSOLUTELY THRILLING!!
After last night, expecting boring, safe Tim Pawlenty to be named VP, I woke up to see the rumors here on TH and Redstate and Michelle Malkin's site, and got really excited that it was true...AND IT WAS!! If you've read my comments for the last 3-4 weeks or so, I've been pushing for Sarah Palin, and I'm thrilled to say that she's the choice. FANTASTIC!!

vetted by media 2
she'll get vetted and it'll be nasty...it's already started. The msm gave Hillary no respect and treated Geraldine Ferraro as persona non grata. Condaliza Rice, clearly an intellectual giant was treated by the left like no women should ever be treated so my guess is they'll go after Sarah Palin with a blood lust. The left cares about one thing absolute power....not women not blacks....unless a vote is at stake. They are tools for the lefts power brokers and Obama is their biggest tool...really no pun was intended.

Maybe we can finally stop the truly largest transfer of wealth in the history of the world....next to the Europeans raping and pillaging all the Americas way back when. No lawyers, and no mindless bloviators. I'm betting the union boys are going to show their true colors and really screw with her husband...looks like he can handle them beer gut boys easily though....I going to pay stupid amounts in taxes regardless of which party is in office, at least I won't want to hurl every time I send a check to my local IRS drop box like when Clinton and the other worst president Carter occupied D.C.

Cross your fingers
Gov. Pahlin seems like a great woman with the right stances to make us conservatives happy. My only concern is a lack of experience. How can Sen. McCain harp on Sen. Obama's lack of experience when he chooses as his running mate a two year governor? Also, Is she ready to be President? I don't know. I really hope for. If she'd been governor for a couple terms or at least a full one she'd be a no brainer choice. Lack of experience is the only drawback I can see.

Obama's been in the senate for more than 140 days - where on earth do you get that one? She represented 670,000 people, Obama 13 million. The town she was the mayor of, in turn, had 8,000 people, Obama's state senate district was far larger.

Is she attractive and fresh? Absolutely. But don't think that trying to convince people of he "experience" will persuade them. McCain is 72, she's 44. If McCain has problem's, then she will be your next president - whether she's ready for it or not - and that will be debated.

Not vetted by the media?
My biggest complaint this election cycle, is that our candidates are selected by the media not by the party members. So having a candidate not "vetted by the media", seems like a great choice to me.

Plus, I was rooting for her since March.

Even if she was wrong, and 'abused her power', do you really think a majority of Americans give a hoot about some bureaucrat getting canned?lol I think they will cheer her for this. Also, this is Amercia we like our political scandals BIG. This is nothing in the scheme of things. Only a hard core lefty could see this amounting to anything.

Hey Libs----
The choice is in! the attractive, active and pro-life Mrs. Sarah Palin (GOVERNOR for you idiots) is Big Mac's choice. This ought to scare the living HELL out of you! She is EVERYTHING that the glowering mrs. obama is not.
This woman will bury biden. That old buffoon doesn't have the stones to go 'attack dog' on her. She beat up up Ted Stevens for crying out loud.

Hey Soccer Moms & Security Moms!
Here's your candidate!

Obama
let's look at experience this way - she was a mayor vs state senator - she is a governor having worked at it daily for over 2 years vs Obama's 140 days or so in the US Senate. The people of her state give her a 90% approval rating - not bad. She has gone after corruption even within her own party vs hanging around some questionable characters. Here is the part that means a great deal - she is a mother of 5 kids - now that's experience for you. She can handle anything. As far as the other qualified Republicans - they will have their place in a McCain administration.

Then we'll see what happens. In the meantime, you sound like you are very concerned about the pick and are just throwing out some negatives to try rain on the Rep parade. BTW, I am not a McCain supporter, but I certainly can appreciate Mac's tactical brilliance at first stealing Barry's MO and now that it's officially Palin, stealing Barry's MOJO. Palin has star power. Speaking of abuse of power, it will be interesting to see where the Obama/Ayers investigation leads. Looks like both sides have corruption/power abuse issues. That's no surprise to me, that's politics American style.

Super choice - if true
Think racism. What have Libs consistently cried when Obama has been attacked? How about Hillary? Those hypocrites on the left are going to look like sexists for attacking Palin. McCain will be one-term. This is perfect for giving Republicans the wake up call they need. Wait for the energy to be released. How much energy would there have been for a Lieberman pick? How about some other old white guy? Yawn!

Awesome. Now I can look past John at the future.
Doug writes: Friday, August, 29, 2008 11:00 AM

SCREW THE MEDIA
If it's Palin, I am confident the McCain team will have vetted her to the point that there will be nothing the media can dig up on her. The way they have been running their campaign of late, combined with this brilliant tactical manuever to take Barry's MO away, makes me think that if it is Palin, Mac's team will have done their vetting homework and then some. This is really fun to watch. lol

How does hair plug Joe attack her? Has 5 children, one unfortuately with Downe's syndrome, could have had an abortion couldn't she?
Try that for pro-life, they'll never go near that issue.
They might try the experience thing, but they'll lose that as well, she's running a state and getting great marks for it, bambi has never run so much as a hotdog stand and neither has biden.
