Pelosi's comments are chilling. To advocate the murder of children as an acceptable way to save money is an abomination; that however has been an argument of the abortion lobby since it began. To attempt to make it the policy of our nation is nothing short of evil, and makes a mockery of our freedom and liberty. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

I've been an advocate of that for years; I even talked to Clayborn Pell about it back when he was still senator (found myself sitting next to him on a plane). He was very enthusiastic, but then he was also somewhat of a nut. (He just died a couple of weeks ago.)
Not just a web meeting, though. Set up an office suite in each state capitol for each senator and representative from that state, with lots of high-bandwidth, highly-secure telecom equipment. Let them video-chat and video-conference and facebook or tweet each other until the cows come home.
Never happen; it would KILL the lobbyists. Their targets would no longer be all in the same place, so they'd all have to have field offices all over the country. They'd ALL lobby against it, and they're good at lobbying. |

After all, by doing so, they are taking the history of the Progressive movement as their own, with its incredible growth in racism, three Depressions, Hoovervilles, and Prohibition. Prior to Franklin Roosevelt, Conservatives and Liberals were allies with similar philosophies. It didn't change until FDR ran as a small-government liberal and ruled as a Progressive. Society should not allow anyone to be born into poverty - too much suffering; if they are born into poverty, the state needs to subsidize them. So if they are killed off preemptively, the state will save the money.
