No Conservative host would pull a stunt like that...the ratings would be through the roof. Tv/Radio hosts live an die by ratings. Rush or Hannity or even O'Reilly would give their Eyeteeth to interview Hillary or Obama or even Jesse Jackson. They know the ratings that result will boost their numbers and that's what determines advertising rates....so even that is all about money.
Oprah is no different. She is already hearing from viewers who are about to become former viewers. She must figure she can weather the storm, or else Moveon is pulling her strings too.... |

For Ms. Winfrey to state that she'd welcome Gov. Palin after the election is to for her to overtly acknowledge that she cannot bring herself to even recognize the opponent.
The fear factor resounding from the left and with Ms. Winfrey for Gov. Palin is thunderous.
That Ms. Winfrey respect and supports the Jr. Senator from Illinois is understood. That she trembles over the selection of a powerhouse female in the person of Gov. Palin is also understood.
Essentially, Ms. Winfrey knows that Sen. Obama's candidacy is in free fall and she's falling with him. Subscriptions to "O" magazine are not being renewed by many and her share next year will fall as well.
Time to use acrylic on those eyelashes.

Rush Limbaugh, for all his faults, is a partisan. His show is partisan. Everybody knows it. Oprah Winfrey's program, on the other hand, is not supposed to be partisan. If she wants to become the black female liberal Rush Limbaugh she's welcome to do so. But don't become partisan and wonder why half your audience feels betrayed. |

I have not watched her show since she stood up for OJ Simpson who was so obviously guilty.

Oprah, from the beginning, has made it a point to say that she fights for women's rights. She has now shown that she doesn't. Yes, it's her show and she's free to choose her guests. But we, as viewers, are also free to say, I'm not going to watch (or respect) you any more. |

The novelty of Palin's gender does not automatically make her worthy of ascendance to the White House. Nor does it automatically guarantee her an appearance on Oprah.
As for Michelle Obama appearing on Oprah....Mrs. Obama is not a candidate in this election.

It's not Palin's gender that makes her novel, or worthy. It's her genuine objective to make this country better for all people, both male and female. She will not, as you say, threaten the rights women have fought for, and won. She'll validate them.

She has really shown what she is all about. She backs Obama which is fine but whenever anyone had been a big news item she had to be the first one to have them on her show. And then almost always, they would be her "new best friend." Now here is Palin, the first female VP nominee in 24 years and the first ever Republican VP nominee and Oprah doesn't care to have her on the show. And she has never backed any other candidate openly before. There were never any good ones in her opinion until Obama? Hmmmm. I had already stopped watching her but now I wouldn't watch her show if she had my best friend on. I hope she loses a lot of ratings and viewers. |

Carolyn wanted to revive the memory of the great Kennedy years and Obamas grand rhetoric was akin to their style and chrisma etc,. Carolyn then promoted Biden, the Catholic as she is one! It sounds like my2cents (and believe me her opinion isn't even worth that) is the typical liberal woman. I bet she makes excuses for and rationalizes anything that liberal women do (up to and including seeking abortions when they are 9 monts pregnant).
She uses hateful language--"knocked up?" That term is not even in my vocabulary because it is so disrespectful to women.
She calls Palin a "baby factory." I guess that is because she is actually only entitled to two children in libworld, and she had the gall to have five! Well, Ms-judgmental-holier-than-thou hate-spewer, I have five kids too, and if you don't like it--tough. Maybe you could not afford more than you have, or maybe you don't like kids all that much, or maybe you can only handle a few--well, there are women out there who are better at this motherhood thing than you!

I am a divorced mother with five children, and I teach school. It seems I should be a liberal, but I do not care for high taxes, government intrusion, and I promote personal responsibility. Because of those things, I am a conservative.
My children are turning out quite well, but they are not perfect. Very recently, my 14 year old was with a bunch of friends. For some insane reason, they thought using window paint on picnic tables at the local park was a good idea. They were picked up by the police and hauled to the station.
I spent the evening at the police station with my daughter, her friends and their parents. We were all highly supportive of the officers, and all of our kids have consequences at home. When we met with the police a few days later to tell us how it was going to be handled (they are going easy on them since none of them had ever been in trouble before), they told us the reason they were not going to "throw the book at them" was because they could tell we were caring and concerned parents.
Kids can make mistakes. It is how you handle those mistakes that reveal character. I would have no respect for Palin if she had rushed her daughter off for an abortin when she found out she was pregnant. It is obvious to me that Sarah Palin can handle any situation! She is tough, she is smart, and she is true to her values. What more could we want? |
