Sotomayor: I'm an "affirmative action baby."
Posted by: Jillian Bandes at 3:01 PM
In videotaped remarks from 25 years ago, Sotomayor says that her acceptance to Princeton University and Yale Law School was contingent on affirmative action policies.
If we had gone through the traditional numbers route of those institutions, it would have been highly questionable if I would have been accepted.
Her test scores have not been released.

No you don't You sadden me. Racism is a serious issue. Your "boy who cried wolf" approach to it has no positive use to anyone. Other, of course, than someone hell-bent on perpetuating the issue for political gain.

More lies.
"I mention Carol's time at harvard with Obama whenever she brings it up and WHENEVER I REMEMBER TO BRING IT UP."

As the two links above clearly show this is another flat out lie. You bring it up when she makes no mention of it at all. You just bring it up whether the thread is about Gitmo or the economy. As I said. Nothing to say but say it over and over again regardless of the subject.

"Certainly however to say I have stopped is utter garbage."
"gotta remember it irritates you so. sure hope it irritates her."

Again, proving just how juvenile you are. You don't irritate me. It's a pretty sad way to spend your every waking day. Do you do anything constructive or positive in your life? I hired an additional employee for my business today. Gave someone a job. An additional employee, not a replacement. The look of joy on the face of someone can make your day. No amount of your idiocy, lies and BS can take that away today. Try it sometime. Try doing something vaguley positive with your miserable little existence. See if you can get through just ONE DAY without calling anyone an idiot or a racist.
Don't Tread On Me writes: Thursday, June, 11, 2009 8:00 PM
A REAL answer? Anyone?
Question:
Why is Sonia Sotomajor MORE QUALIFIED to sit on the Supreme Court than Miguel Estrada?
Paul. writes: Thursday, June, 11, 2009 7:49 PM
Ah, the race card
"this is utter crap; if I peg you as a racist-like paddy or ronna-chances 99.99% you are."

Ah, we got there at last. When all else fails pull out the good ole race card.

Thanks for proving my point, Everyone that points out your strange behavioral traits, proves you are a liar or disagrres with you in any way must therefore be a racist. Why? Just because you are an African-American? What if I am too? Then what? Am I still a racist? Or do you then look like a complete fool? I bet at least I can name the town in Afica I am from. Can you?
I think this debate is now over. As you are so fond of saying. "Case closed".

Oh, I'll respond alright
The whole point, which you know only too well, but try desparately to deflect, is that it is YOU who can't let things go...until it's pointed out to you how childish and silly your behavior is.

You couldn't "let go" of your juvenile posts to Carol about Harvard that you made on EVERY single thread of hers until it was pointed out what a child you were. You stopped the same day.

You mentioned Rush Limbaugh in every single post until it was pointed out to you how childish your behavior was. You stopped the same day.

You made illegitimate race accusations in almost every single post until it was pointed out to you how childish your behavior was. You stopped the same day...well almost. Just can't seem to wean yourself off that one can you?

Even the dumbest dog can be "trained" not to poop on the carpet. Well, almost. And boy, have you been "trained". Over & over again.

"after all who would post his same tired old post over and over again(oh yeah, an Encore-snort)?"

Just a reminder -
32 mentions of Rush Limbaugh in one day.

Over 15 accusations of racism in the same day.

Something like 40 or 50 mentions of Carol's time on the Harvard Law Review with Obama. He used to mention that on EVERY single blog post of Carol's. EVERY SINGLE ONE. And note how she NEVER responded to his childish behavior once.

And he has the nerve to criticize anyone for repeat posting. What a joke. At least we got him "trained" off all those little obsessions, didn't we, huh?

"So she was unqualifeid for Princeton and came n first in her class."

I doubt that she was unqualified; the Ivys get 8-12 QUALIFIED application for every position. She may, for example, have had lower SAT scores than some of the others, possibly due to being too poor to hire an SAT tutor. Are SAT scores a precise measure of how qualified you are? No.

"What does that say for all those poor "more qualified students" whom she outperformed?"

That we don't have any measure that is guaranteed to predict success. A lot of it is up to the individual.

"because TH thinks the middle word in the phrase is obscene. (whack jobs got dirty minds)"

Conservatives rarely have the level of education or achievement that causes them to encounter that phrase.

That position ceased to exist before WWII; the equivalent is now called "managing editor" and is the person doing the day-to-day management work on a particular volume. Platt-Liebou was managing editor; Obama was President. Susan Estrich was the first female President.

"Sonia Sotomayor demonstrates just what is wrong with affirmative action"

In the days when Sotomayor was admitted to Princeton and Yale, both institutions were notorious, even in the Ivy League, for admitting the idiot offspring of rich and famous alumni. Both schools actually had rich-kid remedial courses to bring them up to the level of dressing themselves in the morning and finding their classrooms. Of course, this was described as a way of maximizing alumni contributions, but it was most definitely wealthy white person affirmative action.

"unqualified people reaching positions for which they have no aptitude"

She graduated summa cumlaude and was editor of the Law Review, so it seems that that wasn't the case here.

Affirmative Action is no substitute for merit-based promotions/admissions/awards. Affirmative action is just the "liberal" way of focusing on race.

Affirmative action says to minorities "you're not REALLY qualified, but since you're (anything but white)we'll take you anyway". It encourages mediocrity.

As Reagan said, it's "the soft bigotry of low expectations".

Don't tell me you're all for soft bigotry.

Affirmative Action
When I was an undergraduate, our admissions department let it be known that for several years they'd been trying a "Huck Finn" program in which they'd admit a small number of people almost at random from the pool of qualified applicants. They typically had 12-15,000 applicants for 1000 positions, of which 85-90% were thought to be capable of doing the work and getting the degree. Of course, we all immediately assumed that we were a Huck Finn; they never told anyone who they were.

A few decades later, after tracking everybody, they announced that the Huck Finns, whoever they were, got slightly better grades, were slightly more likely to get advanced degrees, and contributed slightly more to the University. No conclusion was reached.

A liberal I once knew was appalled to learn that the tank full of live lobsters at the seafood restaurant we entered would soon be killed and consumed.

She skulked out to her car and retrieved a large trash bag. Then, when nobody was looking, she put all the lobsters into the bag and ran out the door.

I saw her the next day and asked what became of the lobsters.

"Silly," she replied. "I set them free in the woods, of course.....!"

A rare plug for Affirmative Action
Great stuff! I advocated Affirmative Action 25 years ago. Groups long underrepresented in the professions was a national disgrace. Nowadays we have moved past racially and gender based A.A. and we should, as President Obama advocates, broaden the concept to include economically disadvantaged individuals. There are lots of poor whites who would qualify, richer blacks who wouldn't. Dig?

To remind us that Sonia is an A.A. baby shows one of the many successes this idea has had over the years, and I thank TH for the plug, as unintended as it no doubt was.
