Trouble for Obama in the Blagojevich Indictment
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 11:30 AM
The 78-page affadivit against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is a doozy, filled with a bevy of damning quotes and lots of implications for President-elect Barack Obama.

The criminal complaint filed by Illinois Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald contains detailed excerpts of secretly recorded conversations in which the governor discussed how he would make money off of the Senate seat vacated by Obama.

The Governor is being charged on two counts, bribery and mail and wire fraud. He could face a 20-year statutory maximum.

Blagojevich described the seat as a "valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing" to his Chief of Staff John Harris and compared the situation to a professional athlete who operates as a free agent, shopping himself to various teams for the highest salary. In this case, most of the "shop" talk was related to what President-elect Obama could do for Blagojevich.

Blagojevich said he planned to appoint himself to the seat unless "I get something real good" and frequently employed the f-word in reference to Obama. The governor  indicated "something real good" would be an ambassadorship or Cabinet post, two types of positions that are appointed by the president. Blagojevich's preferred Cabinet appointment was Secretary of Health and Human Services, or Energy Secretary because it is "the one where you make the most money" as one unnamed Deputy Governor said.

"I'm going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain," he said according to the complaint. "You hear what I'm saying. And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satisfied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seat myself."

He said he would try to make an appointment that would "be good stuff for the people of Illinois and good for me."

In another conversation with Harris and an unnamed SEIU labor official named a specific salary he was seeking in the range of $250,000-$300,000 and a new "three-way deal." The three of them discussed the prospect of Blagojevich appointing the SEIU's preferred pick to the Senate, Blagojevich being named to a union advocacy organization called "Change to Win" and Obama's support for Change to Win's legislative agenda. Another idea proposed by Blagojevich was the creation of a $10-$15 million Warren Buffett-funded 501(c)4 for the governor to lead.

There was also frank talk of how to land Blagojevich's wife a well-paying position on a private, corporate board.

The complaint is available HERE.

You have this sick mindset of believeing that an "assumed affair" of an official is far greater a crime than that of lying, stealing elections, committing conspiracy, fraud, voting for infanticide, supporting gay marriage, giving driver's licenses for illegal aliens, taxing we Americans to death, coverups of nefarious associations with bombers, felons, the Chigaco Mafia, giving speeches from Muslim nations, consorting with our enemy on several levels, not producing a valid, certified, true and correct, vaulted, original, court registered and sealed birth certificate proving US Citizenship, and God knows what all else we have no idea about.

You need to get off those stupid pills you pop every day and set some priorities here as to what is important to this "Nation as a whole" instead of wallowing in your self satisfactory and imagined accomplishment of voting for a Socialist/commie-minded, Hitler wannabe who spent all of 148 days in his Senate office before deciding he was fit and qualified enough to run for President and was able to win with those pathetic reasons because idiots like you 'settled stupid scores' and put him into office.

The case workers should have looked a little harder at your inability to reason before entrusting you with so many impressionable minds.

I think you are mixing up your parties John. Since it is now pie in your face. Libs are the biggest liars. So much for change and all that Obama promised on the trail. I guess this arrest of the Governor - the one that Obama never spoke to about filling his seat, is just a preview for what we can expect for the next 4 years.

I know your messiah stated that he didn't know anything about what this looser was doing. I think he could just tape record that message and hit play whenever anyone he associates with gets caught or thrown off the bus - compliments of Rahmbooooooooo

In all fairness, the Clinton scandals did start before January 1993. It just that William Jefferson Clinton had an amazing run of "good luck":

1. Vince Foster gets "depressed" and commits "suicide"
2. James McDougal gets "ill" in Federal Prison and ends up dead
3. Susan McDougal gets "scared for her life" and ends up silent locked up for contempt until she is magically "pardoned" by William Jefferson Clinton

Hopefully, Obama will have this same run of "good luck"

I actually agree. Although I live in a house, whose value I choose not to disclose, I have worked for it and paid off my mortgage and I fail to understand why any American, who is acting responsibly, should have to bail anyone out. I say this, especially, in light of what was disclosed today: Those, who were in default and had their mortgages rewritten 6 months ago, are once again in default. Regardless of whether we would have had McCain's program or have Obama's proposed program, those, who took out mortgages and have demonstrated no substantial change in their circumstances indicating their ability to repay their loan, should be forced to leave the home and move into another or an apartment that they can afford.

But in New York this weekend the big buzz is Caroline Kennedy in the United States Senate, perhaps as the appointment to fill the seat that Hillary Clinton is expected to vacate if she gets confirmed as secretary of state.

PRES.-ELECT OBAMA: And?

MR. BROKAW: Is that a good idea?

PRES.-ELECT OBAMA: Well, let me tell you this. Caroline Kennedy has become one of my dearest friends and is just a, a wonderful American, a wonderful person. But the last thing I want to do is get involved in New York politics. I've got enough trouble in terms of Illinois politics.

More money will not ever induce me to buy any POS newspaper or watch NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, and CNN.

Now, today!!! The Chicago Way is SO entertaining. While I don't necessarily believe that Obama was involved in Blago's behavior relative to his Sentate seat, but David Axlerod said otherwise on Sunday. Needless to say, many, many people will need attorneys in Chicago and, perhaps, those serving Obama in Washington. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that both the Gov.'s impending action on naming a successor to Obama AND the Innauguration played a role in today's arrest and unsealing of the Complaint. Obviously, if Fitz wants to depose/bring before a Grand Jury (just to ask what is known about th Gov.) Obama or any member of his staff, he would want to do so before Executive Privilege attachs.

How many times, do you suppose, can Barack Obama say, "I didn't know anything about it." Of course, THIS TIME he probably didn't. I mean, after all, he sat in a church for 20 years and listened to Rev. Wright through all of those years and never knew his pastor was an America-hating racist. Or maybe since cockroaches are notorious germ factories, I should say infecting.

This nobody from Illinoi goes from 0$ to $millionaire in less than 10 years, knows how to do nothing but spend government money, pals around with Wright, Ayers, Rezko and a host of other "players," develops a Hollywood "slightly creepy cult of personality" to gain the presidency, and you expected ..... WHAT?

That he would go straight and NOT send someone to talk about a three-way deal?

In case you didn't study history, Carter's presidency was a complete and utter failure. He was a failure as a Georgia Governor and as a U.S. President and is a failure now. If you don't think that Obama had any ties whatsoever to Blagojevitch then you need to look a bit more closely.

Corruption
There was a time in my life, when I was young and naive, that I believed good and honorable men and women occupied the halls of government. It is becoming readily apparent far too many of the men and women we elect and whose salary we pay are using their government positions for personal gain, thus betraying and exploiting the taxpayers who work hard every day in order to support these government criminals. Corruption in government will not end until the good citizens of this country decide enough is enough and vote for honest servants of the people. It is no surprise this has come out of the cesspool of Chicago politics. I fear we are going to be living with this type of news for the next eight years, reminiscent of Clinton and his Arkansas days.

Fred - shifting conversation again?
This old tactic of shifting the conversation does not address Hussein's corruption directly. Let's review. Rezko helped the Obama's buy their home (read the details) and Bush was not involved in this deal. Soon when the details of this 'house deal' are made public, you will find yourself defending the messiah AGAIN. Also, the negotiator in this story is making commitments on behalf of 'appointments made by president-elect'. This reminds me of the phone call Hussein promised did not take place between his campaign and Canada promising not to end NAFTA after Hussein had promised to renegotiate NAFTA. Then Canada confirmed that Hussein's campaign representative had called them to say Hussein did not mean it. Also, Hussein promised to raise taxes for the 'wealthy' americans as soon as he took office to make government work for the Main Street American. Also, Hussein promised to bring the troops home 6-18 months after he took office. Hussein has taken back all his promises and his corrupt buddies will soon be circling around him asking for their 'piece of the pie' while you and other obamaciders defend him. He is a LIAR AND FRAUD. Did you ever wonder why all these corrupt people happen to be linked to Hussein? What a coincidence??? LOL!

I wasn't trying to pin anything regarding Blago on Obama, I merely stated that you lefties will continue to blame Bush until 2015.

And may I suggest you read "Dereliction of Duty" by Buzz Patterson on what Clinton was and was not responsible for concerning 9/11.

In case you need a memory jog, Buzz Patterson was the "nuclear football" carrier under Former President Clinton and he drops the ball so to speak many times concerning Osama bin Laden.

Glad I'm not him
The center of the Universe just shifted to Chicago and for several generations to come the state of Illinois will be stained by this (gov B..) egomaniac's existance. Everything that he has touched is now under suspicion. Every one is dirty until proven clean. What a shame and disgrace.
No purpose is served to "predict" shame on Obama. Obama, often tagged as ambitious, is no competition for gov B... But it does point to a serious problem in American politics and for politically active people. The tone and rhetoric and ambition gov B employs in the taped conversations is so widely accepted within politi-speak. gov B... is a child of the University of Politics and repeats what he has learned. Attack, overstate, grasp, lust, put down, grand stand, denigrate, lie for yourself and against your opponent as #1 is the only true worthwhile recipient of reward. He is a creature of the system. Dark, disappointing, self centered. He is a person who believed that everything that he could grab was his, and that he was owed. His ambition knew no bounds until today. The world has a way of dealing with people like him. His downfall sends a message to others who aspire to the sun. Very soon we will see many others disappear from public view to appear later in court. Obama wont be one of them.

How right you are, everyone on the left blames everything on Bush, but they all seem to forget how our government works, i.e. Bush can't do anything without the approval of 535 other people, A.K.A. Congress/Senate.

They will still be blaming Bush in 2015 for everything that Obama will screw up over the next 4 years.
Theophilus writes: Tuesday, December, 09, 2008 1:08 PM
Fred-the dots are already connected
You may have missed the whole story. But Obama is definitely involved.

On the very recording that the Attorney General is basing the indictment on, it has Gov. Blagojevich responding to the fact that the Obama adviser was telling him that he would have to wait for two-years before his wife could be appointed to the board of a corporation. The wiretap records him cursing Obama for not giving anything for himself.

Notice, he was not cursing Obama for being a reformer who was appalled by even the notion of providing favors for the governor in exchange for appointing his personal pick to his Senate seat.

Here's the ABC News link to provide you with a second source:
http://www.abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=6424985&page=1

You should really read Fredosso's book if you think Obama is a reformer who does not engage in this type of Chicago politics.
Kathy writes: Tuesday, December, 09, 2008 1:05 PM
If anyone is interested
There is a link for the entire indictment against Blagojevich on Foxnews.com. By the way, it is a 78 page indictment, not 21 pages as indictated by Amanda.

And Fred.....S.T.F.U. You are clueless, and I urge you to read the indictment, it is very damaging.

Fred - Obama's negotiator?
Do you not see a connection between the person who is negotiating what the governor will get on behalf of Hussein? Oh I know, it's Bush's fault that Hussein had a negotiator willing to trade senatorial appointment for governor's new position in his cabinet. OR the Clinton's made Hussein do it. Obamaciders can't face up to the fact that the man is corrupt and bad news on all levels. Maybe when he finally admits to his 'issues' and unamerican agenda - you can blame the media and others who did not tell you the 'facts' about him. Please defend him all you want because in 8 years, you and others won't have Amanda or anyone else to insult. You will only have your messiah to blame and of course 'racism' the last hope for all liberals.
samson writes: Tuesday, December, 09, 2008 12:57 PM
Question About Hussein's Presidency
If the governor of IL is able to 'bully' him into this kind of negotiation for himself and his wife, what will the foreign donors to his campaign ask him to give? His mediator seems willing to negotiate and talk about it, so what will Comrade in Chief give Russians, Chinese, Iranians, and other foreigners who donated to his campaign?

The other troubling issue is the vault copy of his birth certificate. If SCOTUS decides to ignore Berg's evidence - that means we will have a president who can be black mailed by others who know his real place of birth. This spells worse trouble than Wright sermons, Ayers' parties and his socialist agenda. It means a group of foreigners will own our president. I hope SCOTUS has the guts to ask Hussein for his vault birth certificate with doctors' signatures to prove he was born in HI. Apparently, that copy is not available because it can't be 'changed' so easily. Hussein is such bad news and americans will pay a very high price for electing a foreign american president.

Nothing Sticks to Teflon

Obama should not loose any sleep over this--nothing ever sticks to him.

Anyone who has read David Fredosso's book, "The Case Against Barack Obama" should not be surprised. This is the type of murky water of Illinois politics that Obama swam in for years with no problems.

For example, Obama endorsed Giannoulias, a member of a family with known connections to the mob.

Blagojevich will simply be the first name on Obama's list of Presidential pardons.
