Like a Bad Sitcom, Ayers Appearance CANCELLED

Bill Ayers, the terrorist (funny how Wikipedia says "activist" instead), won't be speaking at Naperville (Illinois) North High School after all.

From the Naperville Sun:

"Naperville North High School won't let 1960s radical speak to students after outcry."

"After a weekend of hostile e-mails from area residents, Naperville Community Unit School District 203 rescinded its invitation to the 1960s radical to address students April 8 at Naperville North High School."

“Lots of people have concerns about him,” he said, referring to the community’s reaction. “I have heard from other districts that have had him speak. Some said it was a beneficial experience and some things I heard clearly bothered me.”

Wait, did he say that some thought "it was a beneficial experience?" EXCUSE ME, what? On teaching people how to bomb the Pentagon or how not to regret doing enough?

The paper added...

"District 203 Director of Communications Melea Smith said the district had received more than 125 e-mails over the weekend and the sentiment ran against Ayers’ coming to visit. “It’s a mixed bag,” Smith said. “The majority of people are angry.”

Let me get this straight, a majority is a "mixed bag?" If it were just a mixed bag, the school district wouldn't have pulled the plug -- this is just the AP's can try to justify the stupidity of allowing a terrorist to pal around with high school students.

Utterly Amazing
That we live in an era that a domestic terrorist is invited to speak at a public high school (though considering the politics of the slothful majority of public school teachers, it is not a suprize)is pathetic. I wonder if Tim McVey had been acquitted on a technicality that he too might be invited to speak...I think not! This is nearly as rich as a Catholic University (Notre Dame) inviting that Godless president of ours to speak! If you are the last one out of the U.S., please turn out the lights.

The voice of liberty
How is it that when a conservative is invited to speak at a school and there are protests, conservative tell us that liberals are all trying to trample free speech?

But when President Obama is invited to Notre Dame, or Bill Ayers to a high school, conservatives lead the charge against them. So when it comes to free speech, I guess conservatives think it depends on what the definition of "is" is.
Simon writes: Tuesday, March, 31, 2009 6:30 PM
What this "is" is
This is simply parents taking control of their children's education. There needs to be far more parents as concerned as these, preventing the careless demoralization of our children in our country. A big thanks to the parents of Naperville North High School for setting such a great example!
Don't Tread On Me writes: Tuesday, March, 31, 2009 6:30 PM
Ayers tried to KILL PEOPLE
and doesn't feel bad about it, which is why he shouldn't be walking the streets much less talking to school kids.

Compare his record to members of the Minute Men or Michelle Malkin. None of these people have ever tried to harm anyone. They wanted to voice what was unpopular opinion at public universities and were harassed by thugs.

Keep on speaking up for evil, Vlad!

Mugshot
I like how the nutbags bring up this guy's mugshot from like 30 years ago every time he's in the news.

Maybe HuffPost should put up Shrub's DUI mugshot every time he's in the news?

Ayers' mugshot
Is it just me or does this guy look like Timberlake's character in "The Love Guru?"

My favorite mugshot of all time has to be Tom DeLay's... that smile just says "Bite me, Earle."

what picture they post of the POS, are you libtards that stupid to defend an anarchist. we do need to take out the trash in this country.

"This is simply parents taking control of their children's education."

The graduating class at Notre Dame? They're 21 or 22 years old; isn't it time to allow them to have an independent thought?

I'd say the same thing about high school students, but this seems to be the era of "helicopter parents" meddling in their children's lives. We had Edward Teller as a speaker when I was in high school; there was an evil person.
Raelei writes: Tuesday, March, 31, 2009 7:43 PM
Hypocrisy on the Right
Of course, you can bet G. Gordon Liddy doesn't get such a reception. It is DIFFERENT if you are a wingnut and claim that the radical and criminal behavior was done for a 'good' cause, like helping Richard "I am not a crook" Nixon.

Ayers has atoned for his past actions, and shown remorse for them. He is a well respected scholar and community servant, and the rightwing took this man's private life and turned it into a sideshow for the sake of fearmongering. Liddy, on the other hand, still swaggers around with the knowledge that in his circle, his radical, violent past is applauded and awarded. Double standard? YOU BET. And as sickening as it can get.
Raelei writes: Tuesday, March, 31, 2009 7:45 PM
Don't tread on me
Liddy plotted to kill people. Does this make him an equal in your ire? I'm guessing not, because, after all IOKIYAR.
Don't Tread On Me writes: Tuesday, March, 31, 2009 7:57 PM
IOKIYAR?
Is that..? Are you choking? Did you have an aneurysm? Is it a seizure of some kind?

Do you know what ire means? Did you mean "eyes"? You know, those globes in your head that are constantly dilated from all the acid you drop?

You. Are. Priceless!
The most entertaining FemiNazi ever!!

Don't Tread On Me...
LOL! Doesn't Raelei bring out the absolute best in us? Raelei, honey, please show us exactly how Ayers has "atoned for his past actions". Was it how he admitted, under oath, that he organized and directed the Weathermen to bomb various federal buildings? Nope. Was it when he apologized, under oath, for the murder of innocent people and was influential in the death of his cohorts? Nope.

Cry me a river about taking a person's "private life and turning it into a sideshow". Can you spell "Sarah Palin"? Or any other prominent conservative, for that matter.

No response on the Right to invited liberal speakers to campuses compares with the disturbance and threats that virtually any conservative guest endures.

Insights of a blind man
I would agree with vlad completely except for the fact this is high school not college. The huge difference is filling young skulls full of mush that have already been indoctrinated obscenely with revised history, phonic spelling and "close enough for government work" math. It gives me hope there are enough parents that remember what their job is. It is no different than keeping your kids off porn sites and sexting lessons. Your not there to be their friends.
susan writes: Tuesday, March, 31, 2009 8:35 PM
Scum...
Not sure and dont feel like looking it up, but wasn't Ayers photographed stepping on a burning US flag after 9/11? He put NAILS in those bombs....intending to hurt people. HES SCUM. I wouldn't want him teaching my kids.

DocInsight re Raelei
She used to go by "Kimber" once, then her psyche fractured again and "Raelei" sprung out.

She is something!
The most bizarre and unhinged things come off her keyboard. I think Kos directed her here cause she was too nuts for them.

THANK, KOS, for making the Right take care of the Left's mess AGAIN!!!
John writes: Wednesday, April, 01, 2009 12:10 AM
Should be lecturing inmates
Ayers should in jail for life for what he did. What is the difference between his offenses and Clarles Mansons? Ayers and co.killed many more people than Squeaky Fromm and the rest of acid heads. This is a simple case of a radical movement in the sixties that I enjoyed though fog and silly putty faced 30 year olds you can't trust. It was the stereotypical well intentioned generation of youth who faced a crew cut skinny tie grandfatherly government that was just so passe. David Horiwitz puts it best. A lot like today, the movement was hijacked by anarchists with an avarice driven self annointed vision of life. The ego it takes to think you are smarter than all rulers in history before you is something to fear.
Raelei writes: Wednesday, April, 01, 2009 12:43 AM

I'm hoping you're kidding in the lame Republipuke manner, tread. "Ire", not "eye". It means "rage" - figure it out.

Ayers atoned by straightened himself up, became a honest member of society working quietly and serving his community in a meaningful way. He atoned with his legitimate remorse and making something purposeful of his life. Liddy, on the other hand, has done virtually nada in terms of atoning. He is a typical unaccountable Republican wingnut, who used his radio mic to continue to spew hatred and promote lies, toxic rightwing rhetoric and back Senators who have had legal issues of their own (McCain) for which they were never properly held to account.

Your mockery speaks volumes Doc - about your ignorance, and about you unwillingness to even begin to step outside the koolaid bubble you've imprisoned yourself in.

Munck
Edward Teller went around the country tellig about his nightmares and the atrocities of war. Ayers still brags about his exploits. He would look like James Dean in his convertable pickin up chicks to these high school kids. And I do emphsize Kids. There are light years difference a 21 year old and a 17 year old. Maybe when you get to be 21 you will understand. No Bobby, you can't stick your head in the blender. AWW MOM.
