Bush Tries the Bring the Pain on Cranky Press Corps Via John Deere
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 2:54 PM

All right, it was actually a Caterpillar D-10. Anyway, this sounds like quite the incident. Maybe it'll show up on YouTube:

"I would suggest moving back," Bush said as he climbed into the cab of a massive D-10 tractor. "I'm about to crank this sucker up." As the engine roared to life, White House staffers tried to steer the press corps to safety, but when the tractor lurched forward, they too were forced to scramble for safety."Get out of the way!" a news photographer yelled. "I think he might run us over!" said another. White House aides tried to herd the reporters the right way without getting run over themselves. Even the Secret Service got involved, as one agent began yelling at reporters to get clear of the tractor. Watching the chaos below, Bush looked out the tractor's window and laughed, steering the massive machine into the spot where most of the press corps had been positioned. The episode lasted about a minute, and Bush was still laughing when he pulled to a stop. He gave reporters a thumbs-up.

I know I should be tsk-tsking the president right now for unseemly, uncivilized behavior, but the idea of White House press corps members scurrying around with a front-end-loader on their heels is preventing me from doing so.

Also, I'd imagine the incident was somewhat less dramatic than the write-up suggests. Bush seems like the kinda guy who can keep a tractor under control, and we all know how he likes to mess with the press kids. (Via IMAO)

North Carolina Governor Mike Easley, on the other hand? Total threat behind the wheel. An N.C. governor that can't handle a stock car? A state disgrace, I tell you.

If members of WH Press Corps want to...
...join the Rachel Corrie Club, let 'em. It'll be no great loss to journalism, in most cases.

A state disgrace, I tell you,
The bigger disgrace comes from a "reporter" in NC that would print this line;

"Like all stock cars, the racecar had no reverse gear"

Umm... since when? Most race cars with transmissions have a reverse gear. Sprint Cars and other race vehicles that have a direct drive don't. But
certainly MOST stock cars do.

I will admit, it might not be easy to find reverse in one, but it is nearly always there.

press corp morons
this reminds me of the movie, "THE HELLFIGHTERS". john wayne gets crushed by bulldozers because a stupid repoter runs out in front of the moving equuipment.

the press corp are all a bunch of city slicker pencil necks, that don't have the common sense to MOVE BACK from very large moving equipment. they're all morons.

"Press Corps, reporters and other idiots
You know what is wrong with today's world more than anything else, lack of common sense. It's everywhere, but most prevalent in the MSM. I don't mean all, just a large majority.

What is common sense? I think its the ability to see something and understand what you are seeing.

Where does it come from? It arrives free of charge through life experience. The more life experience, the more opportunity to be infected with common sense.

What does it look like? It takes various forms but great leaders to include industrialists, military leaders, philosophers, etc. have been known to have it. Average Joe and Josephine also have been known to have displayed it.

Does intelligence play a part in it? Yes, this is a limiting factor, i.e. usually the dumber the person, the less common sense they exhibit.

Is there a segment of society that is immune to being infected with common sense? Refer to the "Subject" line above.

As Agent 86 would say
"Miss them by that much"

And that was too bad.
