Blame the Candidates
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 8:04 AM
The idea that John McCain's recent success means the conservative movement is weakened is, I think, a wrong interpretation.  I blame the candidates for failing to lock up our support -- not conservative voters for failing to rally around weak candidates ...

The media, neo-cons and christo-fascists
are to blame.

The media for trying to pick the candidates.

The neo-cons and christo-fascists for trying to perpetuate an unpopular war.

Conservative Problem
As long as Conservatives don't speak to the working class, they will deteriorate as does this economy. People will overlook social values if they'r enot employed, on the verge of being unemployed, or working and can't afford the essentials in life.

Economy trumps social values; what good is being nice iof you don't have anything, especially a job?

What we are really witnessing is the beginning of a break in both parties, where Liberals and Conservatives will contemplate going it alone, creating four parties like England and Israel, and we will have to create "coalitions" in the future to govern with a majority. This is currently happening "within the party," which is why one segment is always dissatisfied.

Huckabee's New Role
I suppose going commercial air, not paying your staff and limiting your campaign to free air time and interviews has a certain bootstrap appeal. But when the presidency is at stake, it only shows you don't belong. It shows you don't have enough appeal to keep going. Huck can't win. Even if he had the nomination.

The nation will not vote for him period. We do not like bigots. Too many people remember what his kind did to black people, what the KKK still does, their hatred for Catholics, Jews, Mormons and the others on their laundry list of unacceptables. The only reason he is still in the race is to spoil Romney's chances and land a job in a McCain administration somewhere and he is willing to sacrifice the Conservative agenda to get it.

Party leaders
I am ticked off at some of the candidates. Those that should have been frontrunners failed to run. I am most ticked off at them the most. Some of the also rans have run longer than they should have.

It is outside the candidates that most of my dissapointment is directed. To many of the party leaders in the Congress and Senate jumped on the McCain bandwagon after Florida in spite of the fact that he his far less than Conservative. Many of our so-called leaders have left us to follow McCain, and like the people of Maine we are not going off that cliff with them. We will vote for Mitt Romney over McCain.

Bad candidates
When I saw this crop of losers last year, I was scared to death we would put up someone that couldn't beat Hillary. Instead, we're trying to put up someone who's almost the same, but actually manages to be even more of an annoying jerk than she is. I really hate that the only candidate left I can vote for is a Massachusetts RINO. I've never like Romney. He's a product of the same state that keeps giving us Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. How good can he be? But, he's smarter than Mike Huckabee (ok, so is my dog) and he's not as much of a democrat wannabe as McCain, and he's not a fruitcake like Ron Paul, so I guess I have to vote for him to feel like I've done my civic duty. As bad as I felt last year, I never would have thought our base would be stupid and misguided enough to nominate McCain. The Republican Party, no matter how low you set your expectations, they stand ready to grab a shovel and tunnel under them.

Evangelicals are not monolithic.
Some evangelicals believe a Mormon will faithfully represent Jesus Christ, even though Mormons teach there is no salvation without the teachings of Joseph Smith. They may say Jesus is the Savior, but they also say he would not have been successful if Joseph Smith had not come along to correct His mistakes.

Most evangelicals used to believe only belief in Jesus Christ was necessary for salvation. Now we see they accept leadership from someone who puts Joseph Smith ahead of Jesus.
eddie writes: Monday, February, 04, 2008 10:17 AM
One thing the evangelicals are not
is monolithic. Some support John McCain who believes the government should fund the killing of innocent human beings for the sake of research. This used to be verboten to evangelicals. Now some evangelicals are supporting John McCain and his desire to spend their money on experimentation on innocent human beings.

The real question in this campaign is, Why does John McCain support killing innocent human beings for the sake of science? Is it ignorance or does he really believe the end justifies the means?
eddie writes: Monday, February, 04, 2008 10:13 AM
Mitt Romney,
please withdraw and show your conversion to the conservative issues is not simply expediency. If you persist in using your vast wealth to split the conservative faction, you will show that your position in the conservative movement is tepid at best and simply expedient at worst.

Why are you trying to destroy conservatism, Romney? Why do you want John McCain to win?
eddie writes: Monday, February, 04, 2008 10:10 AM
Mitt Romney, show your loyalty
to conservativism by withdrawing and letting the authentic conservative leader, Mike Huckabee, unite the right and right center factions of the Republican Party.

Mitt you have no chance of winning. Quit acting the spoiler.
eddie writes: Monday, February, 04, 2008 10:09 AM
Why does not Mitt Romney withdraw
and let Mike Huckabee, the true conservative candidate, unite the right and right center of the Republican Party. Mitt Romney is a johnny-come-lately to the conservative side. Huckabee is a lifelong conservative. He did not have to change most of his positions to run for president as a conservative. Mitt Romney had to repudiate much of his own record until 2006. That is when he experienced his conversion to conservative ideals. It took him over 50 years to figure out his lifelong beliefs were wrong. How long will it take him to go back to his lifelong beliefs?
eddie writes: Monday, February, 04, 2008 10:05 AM
A vote for Romney is a vote for
McCain. Vote for the authentic conservative. Vote for Mike Huckabee. Check out Mike's record and policies at http://www.mikehuckabee.com. Find out for yourself. Do not believe his opponents. They may not be objective when issuing statements about Huckabee.

Huckabee for President.

GOP-RIP?

The Stupid Party

The RNC wants an amnesty candidate.

Don't vote for one.

Another amnesty will result in Democrat majorities for decades, or until they are supplanted by the La Raza Party, why doesn't the RNC know that? How stupid do you have to be to import voters for the opposition at the same time you alienate your own voters? Nominating any of the amnesty supporters is a losing proposition, we will not support them. If the GOP intends to surrender our sovereignty and abandon the rule of law, they will find in November 2008, that they still have their big money/cheap labor donors, but they do not have voters. GOP-RIP

Romney Up In California
...by 8 points. The tide is turning, no matter how many liberal networks want to say McAmnesty is our only choice.

Romney also has a narrow lead in Georgia.
Virginia Patriot writes: Monday, February, 04, 2008 8:51 AM
Amnesty vs Amnesty?

Please do NOT stay home. You must vote. You do not have to vote for Hillybama or McAmnesty. There are always other parties and people on the ballot. You could write in Joe Oliva. The important votes are for House and Senate seats. Conservatives MUST win seats in the House. The House is where things get done. It was the passage of H.R. 4437, an enforcement bill, in Dec.05 that sparked the illegal alien protest marches and moved this issue to the front burner. It was the Senate that tried to jam amnesty down our throats. The D's that won seats in '06 were conservatives running on enforcement platforms. One of them, Heath Shuler D-NC, introduced the SAVE Act. Call, e-mail, or write your Congressman and urge support of this legislation. Enforcement is what Americans want, not amnesty.

Amnesty is a losing proposition.
I don't think Hillary is stupid enough to step in front of this bus.
McCain is.

MY FRIENDS!

Amazing, Republicans believe NY and LA Times are champions of the right... What next, endorsement of the UN.

Juan no friend of POWS. See McCain video, he didn't want to find pow's

Juan not a “straight-talker.” McCain video on McCain

Juan opposes first amendment. Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 (BCRA), popularly known as McCain-Feingold made it a "federal crime for any corporation to broadcast, shortly before an election, any communication that names a federal candidate for elected office and is targeted to the electorate." (Such as Pro-Life) (overturned in McCain v. Wisconsin Right to Life)

Juan opposes traditional marriage.

McCain voted AGAINST the Marriage Amendment 7-14-04 and again on 6-7-6

Juan no friend of the unborn.

McCain Voted AGAINST National Right to Life Issues
25% of the time in 2005-2006
18% of the time in 2003-2004 and
67% of the time in 2001-2002.
He missed the vote on the Brownback Amendment #2707, it would have prohibited funding of organizations that support coercive abortion. 9-6-7.

Juan anti-family.

McCain Voted AGAINST Family Research Council and American Family Association issues
38% of the time in 2006
34% of the time in 2005
33% of the time in 2004
0% of the time in 2003
25% of the time in 2002
33% of the time in 2001

Juan is in this for himself.

John McCain DID NOT VOTE on 56.1% or 249 SENATE votes during this past congressional session.
http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/members/m000303 /votes/missed/

Meet John McCain – His record shows he votes against Conservatives values 56.1% of the time. What will he do with a Democrat house and Senate, move right or left? What do you think? Oh, did I mention McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill or the McCain-Lieberman Energy Tax bill.

A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain.

Bryan writes: Monday, February, 04, 2008 8:21 AM
conservatives should blame themselves
conservatives are still trying to decide between Huckabee and Romney for the conservative movement while McCain takes the nomination as the only moderate in the race. As long as it is a three way race, McCain wins.
